Former CNN anchor Jim Acosta has called for the network to fire conservative commentator Scott Jennings following his expletive-filled showdown with a fellow panelist.

“It’s appalling and it’s a fireable offense. I think he should be fired. I’ve been saying for some time he should be fired,” the long-time journalist said on Friday’s (May 1) edition of The Jim Acosta Show, per Fox News Digital.

Acosta was referring to Thursday’s (April 30) episode of CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip, during which Jennings clashed with MeidasTouch commentator Adam Mockler over President Donald Trump‘s war with Iran. The debate became heated as Mockler pressed Jennings to name “one political concession” the U.S. had received from Iran.

“We all know that Scott Jennings is more than happy to defend a war with a country that starts with letters ‘I-r-a’ that we are currently failing, that is going to put us trillions and trillions of dollars more in debt,” Mockler said. “I was only a few years old while you were in the administration defending prior endless wars. Now this war is failing.”

“Eight weeks is endless to you?” Jennings fired back. “You have the attention span of a gnat?”

Mockler retorted, saying, “Now you’re making condescending remarks because you can’t defend the fact that this war is not going your way.”

As the 23-year-old progressive commentator continued to press for an answer, gesturing with his hands to emphasize his point, Jennings snapped, telling Mockler, “Get your f** hand out of my face!”

Mockler later shared a video of the debate on X, writing, “Scott Jennings claimed I got in his face. Watch what actually happened in the full CNN segment. He throws a personal jab… then folds the second he gets pressed. Scott loves to dish it but can’t take it.”

Acosta, who worked at CNN alongside Jennings for eight years before exiting the network in 2025, praised Phillip for helping calm tensions in the studio. He also reiterated that Jennings’ behavior should result in immediate termination.

“He’s been getting away with this crap for so long,” Acosta stated. “I mean, they should just hand him his boxes today and tell him to get the hell out.” (Oh Costa, just like happened to you that has to make a podcast to fund your family?)

A Biden-era program that prevented distressed borrowers from losing their homes has been rolled back==

A generous Biden-era subsidy that helped people who fell behind on their mortgage stay in their homes was recently scaled back. A jump in foreclosures is an early sign of the fallout.

The number of U.S. homes with foreclosure filings rose 28% in March compared with a year ago, data from Attom shows. Foreclosures are still below 2019 levels, but probably not for long.

Homeowners with a Federal Housing Administration mortgage who get into financial difficulty can apply for a subsidy, known as a partial claim, to clear any arrears on their mortgage. Some borrowers can also get a loan modification to make their monthly payments more manageable.

During the pandemic, the Department of Housing and Urban Development lifted limits on how many times borrowers could receive these partial claims. The only restriction was that the total claims couldn’t exceed 30% of the outstanding balance on the mortgage.

Many people who used the program were in genuine distress, but others were gaming it. Mark McDonough, a managing partner of consultancy Assume Loans, found instances in publicly available documents of homeowners who repeatedly claimed the subsidy.

One buyer who purchased a $430,000 home in Woburn, Mass., in 2019 has received five partial claims totalling $96,000 since 2021. The arrears will eventually have to be settled—they are added to the mortgage balance in a junior lien that is repaid once the loan matures, is refinanced or the home is sold.

However, as the arrears accrue no interest, the home owner effectively got a $96,000 interest-free loan for the lifetime of the mortgage.

This can’t happen anymore after the Trump Administration tightened the rules. Since last October, borrowers can only apply for one partial claim or loan modification every two years. They also have to make three consecutive mortgage payments before they qualify for government help to settle any arrears. This is to make sure they are able to pay the loan longer term. Borrowers who can’t meet this bar will start to show up in foreclosure numbers.

Is a coming wave of forced sales bad news for U.S. home prices? It depends. Distress is high in FHA mortgages, where a lot of first-time buyers and lower-income Americans get their home financing. But these riskier loans make up only around 1/10th of all outstanding mortgages in the U.S.

As of March, 11.6% of borrowers were delinquent, according to John Comiskey, founder of Reverse Engineering Finance, who tracks the performance of seven million out of the eight million outstanding FHA loans captured in Ginnie Mae’s mortgage-backed securities data. The real number is higher, as some of the most troubled mortgages are taken out of the MBS pool of loans.

Comiskey believes up to half of seriously delinquent FHA borrowers could fail to make the three consecutive mortgage payments needed to qualify for help under the new rules, based on conversations he has had with professionals that service the loans. If that happens, he expects around 250,000 people to lose their homes over the next 12 to 18 months, either through a voluntary sale, a foreclosure or a short sale…

NEW: Police airlift a crocodile with the body of a 59-year-old businessman insider.

Local police in South Africa say they suspected the crocodile ate the man after observing it from drones. They then shot it and airlifted it off.

When they landed back on the ground, the crocodile was sliced open, and human remains were found.

The remains are believed to be those of 59-year-old Gabriel Batista, who had previously been swept away in raging floodwaters.

His ring was found inside the animal along with six other pairs of shoes, which authorities fear may belong to other victims.

On Monday, Batista reportedly tried to drive over a flooded bridge to reach his hotel and bar, but he and his truck were swept into the water.

He was then swept down the river, where crocodiles were waiting for prey. It is unclear if Batista was already deceased when he was eaten,but authorities believe some of his other remains may have been eaten by other crocodiles.
