A British man named Craig Barratt was jailed in Qatar for a Tripadvisor comment on his stay at the Ritz-Carlton in Doha
His wife was sexually harassed at the hotel pool & threatened with rape by 2 local men while Craig was away on a work trip to Riyadh.
After notifying the management about what happened, Craig was told that the men had checked out and weren’t a threat anymore.
It turned out to be a lie and his wife spotted the men staying at the hotel again. She and Craig immediately checked out and Craig then wrote a Tripadvisor comment warning that hotel staff were covering for sexual predators:
Instead of reviewers their security protocols, the Ritz-Carlton filed a criminal complaint of defamation against Craig to the Qatari police.
The British man soon found himself in a dirty jail cell.
