DeltaFag here with a funny little story.
I love dogs because I've had them for decades, since the mid-1960s.
I have never been without a dog since then.
The only thing I dislike about owning dogs is losing them, so I always try to keep a steady flow of needy animals around me because it softens the blow when one passes away.
Over the last few months I've lost several dogs due to old age, cancer, and chronic health conditions, so I made arrangements to have a "new" (to me) dog delivered next week.
I found out it's an adult dog whose family cannot care for him any more.
He looks like the perfect one for me at this time.
I already chose a new name for the incoming dog because I've changed dogs' names in the past without any problem.
But then the people surrendering the new dog to me told me his name, and that made me realize that I cannot change it.
It also made me realize that God has an awesome sense of humor, because NOBODY in my real life has any clue that I come here to post, or that I've been here since the beginning.
The "new" dog's name?
Delta!
That's been his name for years, since he was a puppy, owned by people I've never met, and he'll be delivered to me soon.
Message received, loud and clear.
Obviously, I'm not changing his name.
