The Justice Department launched a criminal investigation into Trump rape accuser E. Jean Carroll.

In 2019, E. Jean Carroll alleged that Donald Trump raped her in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in the 1990s but she could not name the date or even the year this allegedly took place.

Carroll previously said ‘rape is sexy’ and a ‘fantasy’ – CNN’s Anderson Cooper was so disturbed he cut to a commercial break.

The jury sided with Carroll anyway, with no evidence.

Trump has denied the allegations and called E. Jean Carroll a “whack job” who’s “not my type.”

The jury decided that E. Jean Carroll did not prove that Trump raped her.

However, the jury said E. Jean Carroll proved Trump sexually abused her when he ‘inserted fingers into her vagina.’

A Manhattan jury reached a verdict in the E. Jean Carroll rape/defamation case in May 2023 and ordered Trump to pay her $5 million.

In a separate defamation case brought by E. Jean Carroll, in January 2024, Trump was ordered to pay $83.3 million in damages to Carroll.

Federal investigators are probing whether Carroll perjured herself when she said under oath that no outside source was paying her legal fees.

E. Jean Carroll told then-Trump attorney Alina Habba under oath that no one was helping her pay her legal fees.

However, it was later revealed that billionaire Reid Hoffman was bankrolling Carroll’s legal fees.

The legal letter argues Saskatchewan’s Human Rights Code allows schools to maintain sex-segregated washrooms on the basis of “public decency,” and claims the school division has a legal obligation to protect the privacy, dignity, and security of female students.

The Justice Centre says multiple students submitted written impact statements. One 13-year-old girl allegedly wrote that she felt “scared” using the washroom, while another student said girls should not have to fear being “watched or threatened” in shared spaces.

According to political donation records highlighted by the National Post, Guilbeault donated money to the Parti Québécois in 2003.

On CBC’s Power & Politics, Quebec correspondent Martin Patriquin reportedly described Alberta separatists this way:

“It’s immigration/deportation. These are people that are very interested in an independent Alberta for the same reason they’re pissed off it’s not a white kid serving their coffee at Tim Hortons.”

That is an extraordinary claim to level at hundreds of thousands of Albertans concerned about federal policy, equalization, energy development, economic autonomy, immigration pressures, and foreign labour programs.

Nobody on the CBC panel challenged it.

Meanwhile, in Quebec political discourse, CBC itself has previously framed the use of the N-word in political and academic debate as a matter of “academic and journalistic freedoms,” even running explainers discussing the controversy surrounding the slur’s use during Quebec leaders’ debates.

So here’s the obvious question: Why is Quebec political culture treated as nuanced and intellectually complicated, while Alberta political frustration is casually reduced to racial resentment?

Albertans raising concerns about temporary foreign worker policies, mass immigration levels, housing pressures, or youth unemployment are not automatically racist.

Those debates are happening across the Western world, including in Europe, the United States, and even within Liberal and NDP circles when it comes to labour suppression and wage stagnation.

And there are legitimate economic concerns behind it.

Statistics Canada has repeatedly reported elevated youth unemployment in parts of Canada while temporary foreign worker usage has surged in sectors traditionally filled by younger Canadians, including foodservice and retail.

Critics across the political spectrum have argued the Temporary Foreign Worker Program can suppress wages and reduce entry-level opportunities for domestic workers.

You can disagree with Alberta separatism. You can disagree with immigration skepticism. But dismissing an entire political movement as angry people upset about “white kids serving coffee” is not analysis. It’s class contempt mixed with regional prejudice.

The irony is hard to miss: Quebec nationalism is routinely analyzed with sensitivity, historical context, and academic caution. Alberta nationalism is too often treated as something to sneer at from Toronto or Ottawa panel desks.

B.C. blogger Markham Hislop has taken on berating concerned Albertans as his personal mission. Nary a day goes by without him offering disparagement to Albertans on social media channels. They tend to focus on being insulting rather than offering counterpoints to legitimate concerns.

In his most recent tirade, Hislop says Albertans are not oppressed but that they are “misled.” He is implying Albertans just don’t understand what’s going on and are being blithely led down the garden path of pursuing sovereignty through a generalized ignorance of how politics work.

Hislop claims “Most of Alberta's so-called grievances are not really grievances at all.”

Telling a province that’s shipped hundreds of billions of hard-earned dollars to the rest of Canada without it being returned in transfers or services that it’s not being exploited is a peak “let them eat cake” moment. It’s not "misled.” It’s math.

Hislop’s video closes with a caption saying, “Alberta’s biggest political problem may be the politics of permanent grievance.” He implies that the issues Alberta has endured have been brought about by poor provincial management and bad negotiating tactics. Continue…

Former president of the Trudeau Foundation George Anderson, who also served as a federal deputy minister of intergovernmental affairs under the Chretien government, has leapt into the Alberta independence debate.

He penned a column in the Globe and Mail warning against allowing Alberta or Quebec to hold referenda on secession. Like other commentators, Anderson is more focused on taking away the ability to vote upon the issue of independence than on trying to win the hearts and minds of independence supporters to the unity side.

Anderson cited a Norwegian scholar who called referenda destructive to families and communities. It was an odd choice of references to choose considering Norway and Sweden peacefully ended their union in 1905 through a referendum.

The two countries had been undergoing tensions and were coming close to breaking out in open warfare. The referendum ended the hostilities and now both nations enjoy their sovereignty while maintaining a close, peaceful relationship with each other. The referendum surely saved families and communities.

In 1995, Quebec held a referendum on independence. It did not tear the country apart as Anderson implied such things do. It somewhat settled the issue as over 30 years have passed without Quebec holding another vote on sovereignty.

Another vote may be pending in Quebec soon, though.

Anderson states that a referendum could lead to what he calls “brutal” negotiation chaos. The Clarity Act lays out the negotiation process for a province, and it will only be brutal if the federal government refuses to negotiate in good faith after a positive referendum vote from a province.

Is Anderson hinting at an implicit threat that the government won’t abide by the act?

Anderson’s haughty tone and message is typical of Laurentian elites. He is dismissive of provincial rights and offers contempt through calling their efforts folly.

He is attacking the process of achieving independence rather than addressing the underlying issues leading to independence movements blossoming in multiple provinces within Canada.

The ability to hold a referendum is an integral democratic right. It isn’t tragic. It offers a peaceful, fair path to the resolution of national unity challenges.

Canadians became more aware of the negative side effects of vaccines after COVID mandates forced many to take the dangerous, abortion-tainted shots.

Recent data shows that almost 25 percent of Canadians reported having declined getting vaccines of all kinds, citing the main reason for not getting them being concerns over negative outcomes as well as bad side effects.

According to data from a recent survey of over 1,500 Canadians, done by the firm Proof Strategies, 24 percent of people polled directly declined getting a doctor-recommended shot.

The outcomes from the report show that getting more people to take government-recommended jabs is getting harder, as more people become more informed about potential side effects.

“Vaccine adoption is a highly complex challenge, influenced by variables such as region, religion, education, affordability, age and more,” wrote the survey. “There will be no one-size-fits-all solution to education.”

Broken down, people born between 1981 and 1996, or Millennials, showed the highest level of vaccine reluctance, at 29 percent.

A total of 23 percent of Gen Z refused jabs, as did 23 percent of boomers. The most vaccine-compliant age group was Gen X, or those born between 1965 and 1980.

Overall, the survey showed that women were more vaccine-hesitant than men, due to concerns over side effects.

People in the province of Alberta were the most hesitant to get vaccines, with 35 percent of people saying that they have declined a jab. A total of 26 percent of those living in Saskatchewan and Manitoba refused a jab, as did 25 percent in Ontario and 21 percent in British Columbia.

Quebecers were the most vaccine compliant, with a 19-percent refusal rate.

Of those surveyed, 16 percent were reluctant to vaccinate their kids, with Alberta parents showing a 32-percent refusal rate to jab their children. Continue…

Former NHL forward Claude Lemieux died at the age of 60 by suicide, according to a report by TMZ.

The NHL Alumni Association announced the news of his passing on Thursday. Lemieux, a multi-time Stanley Cup champion, had a career that spanned more than two decades in the league.

He spent 21 seasons in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens, New Jersey Devils, Colorado Avalanche, Phoenix Coyotes, Dallas Stars, and San Jose Sharks.

He won the Stanley Cup four times, first with Montreal in 1986, then with New Jersey in 1995 and 2000, and with Colorado in 1996. In 1995, he also won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP after a standout postseason run.

Just recently, Lemieux had been in Montreal and took part in a ceremonial appearance at the Bell Centre prior to a Canadiens playoff loss, a moment that got big attention from fans in the building.

The Canadiens org released a statement on Thursday, stating: The entire Canadiens organization is saddened to learn of the passing of Claude Lemieux, who passed away Thursday at the age of 60.

“Today is a dark day for the Canadiens family and the entire hockey community. I wish to express my most sincere and deepest condolences to Claude’s family and loved ones,” said Geoff Molson, owner and CEO of Groupe CH.

Canada’s fall from the top five this year can be attributed primarily to the new methodology employed by the company, rather than a major change in Canada’s performance, however.

In previous years, U.S. News surveyed more than 17,000 people from 36 nations, ranking the countries based on perception-driven attributes categorized into 10 themes, including quality of life, cultural influence, and adventure. Canada always scored well under this system.

The 2026 rankings are based on 100 data indicators collected from more than 30 organizations, including the United Nations, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the International Labour Organization, and the World Bank, to name a few.

That data allowed each country to be scored on eight metrics: governance, health, infrastructure, natural environment, opportunity, civic health, culture and tourism, and economic development. Continue…

Missing Toronto Jewish girl has been found and is safe: police

Toronto police say they have located Esther, a 14-year-old Jewish girl who has been missing for almost two weeks. Police said she was found in a home in Etobicoke at about 1 p.m. Thursday.

“She has been taken to hospital to be examined both physically as well as for medical staff to assess what emotional toll the situation may have caused her,” Superintendent Don Belanger said at a press conference near the command centre that had been set up to aid in the search.

“Our investigation will now turn to whether or not there is any evidence of criminality associated to her prolonged disappearance. It is for this reason, along with Esther’s and her family’s obvious right to privacy, that I will not be able to comment further at this time.” Continue…
