Ireland is finally safe.

Clive Johnston has been convicted and can no longer menace the public.

Johnson, 78, is a retired pastor who committed the heinous offense of preaching near the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine.

That was considered within the “safe access zone” under Northern Ireland’s Abortion Services (Safe Access Zones) Act.

The Act prohibits “influencing,” “preventing or impeding access,” or “causing harassment, alarm or distress” to a protected person within 100 meters (about 328 feet) of facilities where abortions are performed.

So Johnson was found guilty of “influencing” inside the protected zone and fined 450 pounds (about $614).

Northern Ireland’s Public Prosecution Service told Fox News Digital, “The defendant was found guilty and convicted by the court of doing an act in a safe access zone with the intent of or being reckless as to whether it had the effect of influencing a protected person attending the premises; and failing to comply with a direction to leave a safe access zone.”

The language of the law is absurdly vague and abusively broad. What constitutes an “influence” is undefined and could include any religious, political, or social exchange. Would it include encouragements to have abortions?

It is equally perverse to treat praying or preaching the same as blocking or impeding access to a clinic. Finally, a hospital engages in a wide array of activities that raise religious or political issues that can be the subject of free speech.

We previously saw several cases in the United Kingdom where people were arrested for silently praying near abortion clinics.

For its part, Ireland has been a leader in censorship and the criminalization of speech. As the leader of the Irish Green Party proclaimed, “We are restricting freedom for the public good.”

By the way, his offense was reading John 3:16, including “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

What could perish in Ireland and the United Kingdom is free expression as speech regulators target bad influences under time, place, and manner laws.

The project calls for a consultant to:

• assess Canada’s electricity supply chains,

• quantify trade opportunities,

• and produce a final strategic report for policymakers.

In other words: a consultant-funded think tank wants consultants to write reports for government officials already drowning in consultant reports.

A North Carolina gay couple with five sons has been arrested on criminal charges following an investigation into alleged child sexual abuse material.

Cyber tips from the Crimes Against Children database led investigators to believe that 39-year-old Joshua Lee Gilliam and 39-year-old Ronald Wayne Lynch Jr. were in possession of child sexual abuse material. Investigators later searched the pair’s house, where multiple electronic devices were seized.

The two are being charged with first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. Gilliam faces additional charges of first-degree statutory sexual offense and indecent liberties with a minor, and received no bond. Lynch also faces a charge of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and received a $360,000 secured bond.

“The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office continues to work closely with the NCSBI and partner agencies to investigate crimes involving the exploitation of children and to ensure the safety and protection of victims and citizens of Harnett County,” the sheriff’s office said, according to CBS 17.

Katy Faust, founder of the children’s rights nonprofit Them Before Us, commented on the case in a post on X, saying that the couple acquired their last child via surrogacy.

“BREAKING: Josh and Wayne Gilliam have been arrested on child sex abuse charges. Per X bio, they have five sons and were ‘married" in 2020. The last child at least was acquired at the hospital,” Faust wrote. “Note: sexual predators can procure surrogate babies with no background checks.”

It is unclear at this time if the couple’s adopted children were involved in the crimes.

Court documents filed during the trial of former RCMP officer William Majcher reveal the Canadian residents were targeted by Chinese police through the regime’s “Operation Fox Hunt” and “Operation Sky Net” campaigns, according to a report by CTV News.

The documents indicate the Chinese nationals may have been forced to return to China against their will to face punishment for Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-alleged financial crimes, with some potentially facing life imprisonment or a death sentence.

Majcher, 63, has pleaded not guilty to allegations that he was preparing to use “threat, accusation, menace or violence” to target B.C.-based real estate mogul Hongwei “Kevin” Sun “at the direction of, for the benefit of or in association with the People’s Republic of China.” Majcher’s trial began on April 20 and the judge’s verdict is expected to be delivered on May 13. The RCMP began investigating Majcher in 2021, according to court documents.

Sun is allegedly wanted in China for committing financial fraud against the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, yielding hundreds of millions of dollars, and would likely face a death sentence if he were repatriated, the court heard.
