Yes, there is a real connection between County Cork and John F. Kennedy, both through his family ancestry and his 1963 visit.
Family roots in County Cork
One of JFK’s paternal great‑grandmothers, Margaret M. Field, was from West Cork, specifically the townland of Coorleigh North, a few kilometers northwest of Clonakilty.
