The Junkers Ju-52 that went down is old school. Built and used 1930's-1940's in Germany and Spain. My (American) high school in Spain had one right out front.
This is an image of the plane from my school. Looks to have been damaged and scavenged after my school closed down because it was in excellent condition being maintained by our AFJRROTC detachment. It was rumored to have once carried Hitler to visit the Spanish firm manufacturing them under contract to Germany.
