Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson to wed over Memorial Day weekend: source

Published May 18, 2026, 9:01 p.m. ET

Less pomp, more private island.

Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson will tie the knot over Memorial Day weekend, a source tells Page Six.

We hear the couple will say “I do” in front of a small group of family and friends at an intimate ceremony on a private island in the Bahamas

Page Six previously reported that Trump Jr. and Anderson were in a hurry to get hitched, with a source telling us in mid-April the pair were set to wed within the next few months.

However, we also heard that, by the end of April, the pair — who were initially eyeing a wedding at the White House — were mulling over slowing things down due to the war in Iran.

“They’re very aware that a lavish wedding at the White House while people are dying wouldn’t be well-received,” an insider previously told Page Six.

Now we’re told that instead of putting off the nuptials as the war drags on, they are simply opting for a much smaller wedding.

Anderson held an Enchanted Garden-themed bridal shower at Mar-a-Lago in April attended by Ivanka Trump, Lara Trump, Tiffany Trump and Marla Maples.

Trump Jr.’s daughter with ex-wife Vanessa Trump, Kai Trump, also stopped by, according to a spy.

The fête was hosted by Palm Beach socialites Yaz Hernandez, Amy Phelan and Audrey Gruss. Other guests included Daphne Oz, Dina Powell McCormick, Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger, Andrea Wynn and Bret Baier’s wife, Amy Baier.

Trump Jr. even gave a toast at the shower.

“I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with Bettina,” he said, according to one guest. “She is smart, loving and caring.”

Page Six exclusively revealed in December that Trump Jr., 48, and Anderson, 39 — whose parents are philanthropists Harry Loy Anderson Jr. and Inger Anderson — were engaged.

We also exclusively reported the businessman popped the question at Camp David on Dec.13when the pair were celebrating Anderson’s birthday.

Trump Jr. and Anderson started dating in 2024, just as his engagement to former Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle came to an end.

Guilfoyle was named Ambassador to Greece the day Anderson and Trump’s relationship went public.

Trump Jr. was previously wed to Vanessa Trump from 2005 to 2018. They share five children.

Trump demands power to veto Greenland deals with China

Connor Stringer

Mon, May 18, 2026 at 11:19 AM

Donald Trump has demanded a clause that would amount to a “veto” over any future Chinese or Russian investments in Greenland, The Telegraph can report.

Diplomatic sources have revealed that preventing Beijing from accessing the substantial mineral reserves buried deep beneath the ice has become a key objective for the Trump administration in talks over the island.

Officials from the United States, Greenland and Denmark have been locked in secret negotiations over a deal that satisfies the US president’s desire to control the territory.

The talks were designed to provide Mr Trump with an off-ramp to his threats of a military takeover of the Arctic island, an autonomous part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

It is understood that the US sees the minerals buried deep under the island’s ice sheetsas a strategic reserve in case of a war with China.

Beijing has a stranglehold over the materials crucial for the hi-tech production of everything from electric cars to missiles, radar systems and fighter jets.

Chinese mines account for around 70 per cent of the global supply of rare earths, but more crucially, the Asian superpower controls 90 per cent of the world’s processing capacity.

It is feared that Xi Jinping, China’s president, could use the bottleneck to his advantage should Beijing and Washington find themselves at war over Taiwan.

One source close to the negotiations over Greenland said theTrump administration was using these concerns over China as an excuse to gain a greater foothold in Greenland.

Another said theUS would only attempt to extract much of the oil, uranium, rare earths and other critical minerals beneath the icein the event that Beijing puts a squeeze on global supplies.

The US, while largely unaffected by the Iranian chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz, has become more aware of the impact a single country can have on international trade.

In the past decade,Chinese firms have invested in a series of mining projects in Greenland, but none has ever been considered a major success.

The veto powers demanded by Washington would stop firms linked to Beijing from brokering infrastructure or resource deals on the island’s territory.

Sources have suggested the US’s demand is being hotly contested because it infringes on the Greenlandic government’s sovereignty.

US negotiators insisted on a similar clause in a trade deal with Britain, which allows Washington to flag concerns about potential Chinese takeovers.

In the past four months, negotiators have met around five times to discuss an expansion of America’s military presence on the island, which MrTrump says is crucial to national security.

Zelensky aide’s jailing was a warning from Washington – ex-Ukrainian diplomat(VIDEO)

Andrey Yermak has been charged with money launderingamid an intensifying power struggle in Kiev

Published 19 May, 2026 12:

The brief detention of a former chief of staff for Vladimir Zelensy last week was asign of mounting pressure from Kiev’s Western backers, former diplomat and ex-Prosecutor General’s adviser Andrey Telizhenko has told RT.

According to him, the developmentreflects a possible redistribution of political influence inside Ukraine

Andrey Yermak, a longtime confidant of Zelensky, was placed in pre-trial detention in connection with a money laundering investigation conducted by Western-backed anti-corruption agencies. He was releasedon Monday after posting bail set at $3.2 million.

Telizhenko said he never expected Yermak to remain in custody for long, arguing thatthe case was primarily political in nature.

“The guy is filthy rich. He has billions of dollars, the same as Zelenskyy, stacked up in his pocket around the globe,” he alleged. “So this was just a show for the public.”

According to the former diplomat, the prosecutionreflects efforts by Washington to eliminate Yermak’s political influenceand shift and clear the way for other figures, particularly former military intelligence chiefKirill Budanov, whom he described as having close ties to US intelligence agencies.

Although Yermak formally resigned from his post last November amid corruption allegations, Telizhenkoargued that his real influence stemmed from his close relationship with Zelensky rather than his official title. On paper the head of the presidential administration is “a pencil pusher job” focused on bureaucratic duties, Telizhenko explained

Ukraine’s anti-corruption institutions lack genuine independence and are influenced by competing foreign interests.

The problem is Ukraine is divided between the British, Brussels, Washington, DC – it’s different groups,” Telizhenko told RT, arguing thatWestern cliques are competing for control over Ukraine’s future.

UK job losses hit five-year high amid Iran war

Soaring energy prices and disrupted trade are forcing firms to scale back hiring, according to the British Office for National Statistics

Published 19 May, 2026 12:04

UK employers axed 100,000 jobs in April, the steepest monthly drop in five years andthe latest sign that a weakening labor market is being dragged down by the prolonged conflict in Iran.

Data released by the UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS) on Tuesday showedemployers strugglingwith soaring energy costs after oil and gas prices jumped following the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz during the US-Israeli military campaign against Iran.

Tax data showed the number ofpayrolled employees in Britain fell by 100,000 in April, after a revised decline of 28,000 in March, a drop far steeper than economists’ forecasts for a fall of 10,000.

The ONS said the decline was the biggest since May 2020 at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly at the beginning of the tax year in April.

The figures added toevidence of a weakening labor market since the end of 2025,with the ONS revising down its estimates for the previous four months. The agency’s director of economic statistics, !Liz McKeown, saidretail accounted for much of the fall, adding to signs businesses are scaling back hiringas economic uncertainty deepens.

Separate ONS data showed the unemployment rate in the UK rose to 5% in the three months to March from 4.9% previously, defying expectations for it to remain unchanged, while wage growth slowed.

Suren Thiru, chief economist at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, told The Guardian the figuressignaled “growing distress” in UK’s labor market as rising costs. and the fallout from theIran war pushed businesses to “reduce recruitment and limit pay awards.”

Earlier this year, theInternational Monetary Fund warned the UK is “especially exposed”to the Middle East conflict because of its reliance on gas-fired power.

According to a recent Reuters estimate, the US-Israeli war on Iran has already cost global businesses at least $25 billion. European firms accounted for the largest share of downgraded forecasts as soaring energy prices and supply chain disruptions hit companies across the region. Many are based in theEU and Britain, where energy costs were already elevated after the bloc reduced Russian oil and gas importsfollowing the escalation of the Ukraine conflict.
