I dont care if they are paid well tbh, its historically the norm. You should have to put all your assets in a blind trust during your service though. Also, term limits 12 years for Senate, 12 for house would help. If any legislation directly benefits you, you should be prohibited from that vote or forced to sell at market rate beforehand. IMO lobbying is the more severe problem, its legalized bribery. Outlaw lobbying, Ive never seen a good counterargument for this. If you are in government you are representing the will of the people, not your pocketbook, thats what working private is for.
