Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

Thank you to our great Secret Service and Law Enforcement for the swift and professional action taken this evening against a gunman near the White House, who had a violent history and possible obsession with our Country’s most cherished structure. The gunman is dead after an exchange of gunfire with Secret Service Agents near the White House gates. This event is one month removed from the White House Correspondent’Dinner shooting, and goes to show how important it is, for all future Presidents, to get, what will be, the most safe and secure space of its kind ever built in Washington, D.C. The National Security of our Country demands it!

today is pentecost sunday

Pentecost Sunday is a Christian feast day celebrated 50 days after Easter, commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus in Jerusalem. This event, described in the Acts of the Apostles, is considered the birthday of the Christian Church, marking the beginning of its public mission.

In 2026, Western Christian denominations observe Pentecost Sunday on May 24. The Eastern Orthodox Church, which follows the Julian calendar for Easter, observes it on May 31. The holiday is also known as Whitsunday in the United Kingdom and other regions, a name derived from the white garments worn by those traditionally baptized during the vigil.

Key aspects of the celebration include:

Symbolism: The event is associated with wind (representing the breath of God) and fire (symbolizing the Holy Spirit's power), as described in Acts 2.

Liturgical Color: Red vestments are commonly worn in Western churches to symbolize the tongues of fire, while green is used in Eastern Orthodox traditions.

Duration: The feast often extends into a three-day period known as the Triduum of Pentecost, including Trinity Sunday, Spirit Monday, and the Third Day of the Trinity.
