First of all NYS and Federal law allows people to own and ride them on public streets. They do this because that is their mentality, rob citizens $700 in because their DMWs and cabal controlled gas stations are losing money as a form of punishment, and for the county's enrichment that goes into their books to never be scrutinized again. This is a crime, period. We need to make sensible laws, because in reality, because e-bikes are so light, they mainly put the riders in jeopardy and rarely anyone else, which is why motorcycles are 1/10 the insurance of a car. Many other states, like CA, have been doing these illegal activities as a form of money for the Democrats who control the accounting systems; wake up. Even class 2 and 3 bikes are being confiscated, not just overpowered. Regardless, if people can fly experimental aircraft at their own risk, which has been the norm for the last 5 decades, then it should also apply to e-bike riders. As some bikes can go in excess of 60 mph, now a days, we need sensible laws, because the only threat, is wreckless endangerment, and that can be done at any speed on any vehicle or non vehicle.
