Missiles Rain Down On Northern Israel In Large Hezbollah 'Revenge' Operation
Northern Israel has come under heavy attack from Hezbollah on Saturday, after this past week a full-scale war has resumed in southern Lebanon, which even saw the resumption of Israeli airstrikes on Beirut's southern suburbs, much further to the north.
Even while Tel Aviv maintains the illusion of a ceasefire with Lebanon (as in, its government and national army), there is no ceasefire with Iran-linked Hezbollah, following weeks of sporadic drones being sent on northern Israel, as well as troop positions of invading IDF forces.
The Saturday drone and missile waves hit multiple locations in and around the Galilee area, with regional media reporting that at least eight missiles were launched at Israeli positions in the initial salvo, one of which struck a site in Kiryat Shmona city.
Hezbollah subsequently announced it had carried out 22 military operations against Israeli army positions and equipment within the prior 24 hours. It framed this as a revenge operation for Israeli attacks on civilian centers in Lebanon.
Times of Israel has cited IDF statements saying Israel is bracing for more attacks out of Lebanon. "Hezbollah launched several rockets from Lebanon at the Western Galilee a short while ago," it said in a late in the day Saturday (local time) update. "The IDF says some of the rockets were intercepted and others struck open areas, causing no injuries."
Sirens across several towns and cities were activated, and there were scenes of coastal locales being impacted, with throngs of people scrambling for bomb shelters.
Starting early last week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that he instructed his military to "press the pedal even harder" against Hezbollah, reportedly upon a greenlight being given by Washington, following increased drone attacks from the Shia paramilitary group backed by Iran on northern Israel.

Ebola in DRC – The Reality and the Media Hype
We are to believe, according to some public health voices and media, that the Ebola outbreak in Ituri in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is a threat to us all. This is a bit of a pattern, and it is a story full of obvious flaws.
So, when really good public health analysis is published – once common but now rare – it is worth highlighting. Every journalist interested in understanding the current Ebola outbreak should read this contextual note on the French HAP Open Science website. It is what public health looks like when truth and good outcomes are the sole criteria.
The Polycrisis Narrative
Hot on the heels of COVID-19, in which humans may have fiddled with a virus and then used the Nature Medicine journal to pretend otherwise, we have endured one existential threat after another. Mpox, avian flu, Marburg virus and Hantavirus between them have not totalled 1,000 deaths together over the entire period. Mpox is perhaps the worst, with about 500 deaths across two separate “public health emergencies of international concern”, mostly due to malnutrition in, once again, DRC. But DRC loses 70,000 children to malaria every year, so Mpox was really our problem rather than theirs.
The narrative of polycrisis foisted on an ever-more sceptical public has wrecked the integrity of international public health. Under its current model, global health priorities are largely determined by a few very wealthy individuals with limited public health understanding, or corporations with direct vested interests in certain outcomes. Public health journals are financially beholden to these, as are mainstream media, and can only reflect the hype.
The story is all about the necessity for more money to enable experts to rescue both ourselves and the people of affected regions. Highly paid consultants and pharmaceuticals from Western corporations become essential to save populations apparently helpless without our urgent largesse. This is historically ridiculous, it is ignorant, it is stupid and the note by Villa and co-authors of the Ituri Collective explains why in very clear and coherent terms.
What is Ebola?
Ebola virus was first identified 50 years ago in DRC, and since then has caused intermittent outbreaks, mostly small. It has presumably done this throughout human history, which means hundreds of thousands of years in this area. The largest, in 2014, was in West Africa and killed about 11,000 people over a year. Spread by close and direct contact with body fluids from a sick person, it kills about 30% of presenting cases with a severe febrile illness and systemic bleeding (‘haemorrhagic fever’). Illness is therefore relatively obvious, as commonly is the path of transmission.
Ebola virus presence has been detected at low frequency in many animal species in Central and West Africa. Its main animal host, if it has one, is not clear, but evidence is found in bats, rodents, non-human primates, pigs and species such as the small duiker antelope. And, of course, occasionally in humans. Transmission from animals to humans is called a ‘spillover’ of a pathogen or disease, and it happens a lot. Influenza is a common example, as are brucellosis and Hantavirus. What matters is whether it then establishes transmission between humans, and that depends on many factors.

Teenage Rapists Fined Just £26 Each and Spared Jail After Attacking Girls as Young as 14
Rape campaigners have reacted with fury after three teenage rapists who attacked girls as young as 14 were spared jail and handed youth rehabilitation orders, along with fines of just £26 each – “less than a parking fine”. The Mail has the story:
Harriet Wistrich, head of the Centre for Women’s Justice, has called for a review to establish whether lenient sentences are becoming the norm.
It comes after an outcry over a case in Fordingbridge, Hampshire, last week when three teenage boys were given youth rehabilitation orders, and not jailed, following attacks on girls aged 14 and 15.
In the latest cases to emerge, teenage boys convicted of rape and serious sexual assault were given fines of £26, as well as rehabilitation orders. The three separate prosecutions took place over the past year in youth courts in the North-East.
In one case, a 14 year-old boy raped a girl aged 16 or over in August 2023, and was also convicted of the sexual assault of a girl aged 15 in February 2023.
Sentenced at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on December 4th, 2025, he was given a youth rehabilitation order, ordered to pay court costs of £26 and placed on the sex offenders’ register for 30 months.
In another prosecution, a boy aged 15 was convicted of a serious sexual assault by penetration of a 14 year-old girl in April 2024.
When he was sentenced in July 2025, he was given a youth rehabilitation order, fined £26 and given a restraining order preventing him from approaching the victim.
He was placed on the sex offenders’ register for 42 months.
In a third instance, a 17 year-old male sentenced in September 2025 for the rape of a girl aged 15 was given a youth rehabilitation order, a £26 fine and put on the sex offenders’ register for 30 months. …
Ms Wistrich, of the Centre for Women’s Justice, said: “These cases are shocking. It is less than a parking fine.” …
The cases only came to light when victim advocates from the Rape and Sexual Abuse Counselling Centre (RSACC), covering Darlington and County Durham, raised concerns.

In August 2025, Burkina Faso suspended and terminated the Target Malaria project, a research initiative funded by the Gates Foundation and Open Philanthropy, which began in the country in 2012 as part of a broader international effort to use gene-based technology in disease control.
The military-led government, headed by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, ordered the immediate halt of all activities involving genetically modified mosquitoes aimed at eradicating malaria, citing biosafety risks, low impact and scientific sovereignty.
The government cited the need to prioritise public health and environmental safety over the controversial biotechnology, stating that all remaining mosquito samples would be destroyed.

Target Malaria is an international research consortium dedicated to developing and distributing novel genetic technologies to control malaria in Africa. It receives its core funding primarily from the Gates Foundation (formerly the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) and Coefficient Giving (formerly the Open Philanthropy Project Fund).
Gates is obsessed with mosquitoes. “He’s been pushing for the idea of using genetically modified mosquitoes to eliminate the disease since 2016. That’s just one year after Oxitec finished its first mass mosquito release in Brazil,” Futurism, which is a Gates fan, said.
The Gates Foundation funds genetically modified mosquito research primarily in sub-Saharan Africa, the Americas and South Asia.
In 2023, the Foundation invested US$15 million in the Transmission Zero programme, led by Imperial College London and the Ifakara Health Institute in Tanzania (“IHI”), in partnership with the Tanzanian National Institute of Medical Research, aiming to conduct field trials by 2027.
“The group has already successfully created and tested such a mosquito strain in Imperial’s labs, and recently announced the first transgenic (genetically modified) mosquito strain ever to be made in Africa by IHI researchers,” Imperial College boasted.
Adding, “The new funding will be used to substantially expand the operations of Transmission Zero both in the UK and in Tanzania, building increased research and supporting activities as the programme scales up.”
Past grants also supported the Target Malaria project in Mali, Burkina Faso and Uganda. In 2016, the Foundation awarded US$35 million to Target Malaria.
“With its latest award of $35 million, the Foundation has now invested a total of $75 million in the Target Malaria project, which is based at Imperial College, London. Using CRISPR gene-editing technology, the Target Malaria team has succeeded in installing a ‘gene drive’ in a malaria-transmitting species of mosquito that renders females of the species sterile,” Philanthropy News Digest said. “The Gates Foundation funding will enable Target Malaria to prepare laboratories in Mali, Burkina Faso and Uganda … Interest in gene drives has increased with the spread of the Zika virus.”
The Foundation has also funded Oxitec to develop a self-limiting strain of Anopheles albimanus for use in the Americas, eastern Africa and South Asia, it was reported in 2018. “Oxitec previously developed a self-limiting strain of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes … These mosquitoes have been previously released in Brazil.”
The Anopheles mosquito carries malaria. The Oxitec-Gates partnership is targeting Aedes aegypti because it is the species of mosquito that is a vector for dengue fever, chikungunya, Zika fever and yellow fever.

The woman's cousins, Nichole Allen and Sharee Castagna, wrap their arms around each other as they stare at the laptop. It's the first time they've seen the footage.
They had to fight to have it released.
They want the public to see what was done to their loved one, and to know her name: Jodi Knott.
Jodi died of cancer 18 months after the callous 2023 attack. Her relatives want her legacy to be better police training in responding to acute mental illness.
Nichole quietly sobs as the video plays on.
"You can't physically beat me. F*** off," Jodi, who lived with schizophrenia, yells in the video.
"You're not going anywhere," Black says.
Jodi turns and runs onto the road. Black chases her and they tumble to the ground.
What happens over the next hour was later described as "gratuitous cruelty" by a District Court judge.
Black and his partner Constable Timothy Trautsch stomp on Jodi as she lays on the road. Black kicks her in the head, and at one point drags her by the hair along the bitumen, leaving her back red and raw. He later points his can of pepper spray directly at grazes on her body and sprays them.
Jodi is also sprayed at close range in the face, something that is forbidden because of the risk of eye injuries.
"Get it in her eyes, get it in her eyes," one officer can be heard saying in footage, recorded by Black's police-issued body-worn camera.
By the end, both men have emptied their pepper spray canisters.
"We need a taser," Black tells his partner.
"God, please. I'm strong God, but not without you," Jodi yells in fear.
Trautsch can be heard laughing.
"Oi, is there a long baton in the car?" Black later asks.
"Yeah, that'll settle her down," Trautsch replies.
Jodi's cousins stop the video. They walk outside to get some air.

Push to protect family homes of MPs amid uptick in threats of political violence
As threats against elected officials grow, so too does a question in the minds of many politicians — should taxpayers foot the bill for security for our elected representatives?
In February, a man was charged with allegedly planning a terrorist attack on the WA Parliament, as well as police headquarters and mosques.
In separate incidents over the past few years, people have also pleaded guilty to threatening to kill the prime minister and then-WA police minister Paul Papalia, the latter over changes to the state's gun laws.
The Australian Federal Police has reported a 63 per cent increase in "threatening, harassing, nuisance and offensive communications" directed at federal politicians over the past four years.
While no similar figures are available for WA, the issue is weighing on the minds of members of parliament.
"We live in an increasingly complex community, and I suspect these things will become more and more prevalent as time goes on, sadly so, but that is the nature of it," Premier Roger Cook said during budget estimates earlier this month.
Last year, Queensland MPs were granted up to $6,500 in each term of parliament for home security upgrades.
In offering the funding, the clerk of Queensland's parliament cited the murder of a British MP in 2021 as evidence of the need for greater protections.
It is understood no scheme exists in WA for politicians to get state funding for security upgrades, but under questioning from the opposition earlier this month, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly revealed it was something he was pushing for.

Bondi Claims DOJ Produced 'Everything Required' In Epstein Files Release
“To the best of my knowledge, the Department produced everything required under the Epstein Files Transparency Act,” Bondi said in a statement ahead of a closed-door interview with the House Oversight Committee.
She added that “justice and transparency in this matter have been delivered at the direction of President [Donald] Trump and his administration,” according to a written copy of her opening statement on Friday.
Bondi told lawmakers in her opening statement that then-Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, who is now the acting attorney general, had overseen the process to release the Epstein case files as mandated by a law passed by Congress and signed by Trump last year.
The former attorney general said it was “an enormously complicated and labor-intensive process” and added that the DOJ had made redaction errors during the process. However, she mostly defended the DOJ’s work and said that it had complied with the law and demonstrated “an unprecedented commitment to transparency.”
Democratic lawmakers said that Bondi’s interview should have been televised, with Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) saying on Friday on Capitol Hill that Democrats are “incredibly disappointed of the decision” not to have Bondi’s interview recorded and “released to the American public.”
Another, Rep. James Walkinshaw (D-Calif.), alleged that Bondi was “instrumental in the Epstein files cover-up,” without elaborating. “She must explain who ordered the delays [and] who approved the redactions,” he said.
But Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), the head of the House Oversight Committee, told reporters that the interview with Bondi on Friday will be released to the public as quickly as possible.
“You’ll know everything that’s been asked” if there are questions, he told reporters at the Capitol before the hearing started. “We'll release all the transcripts, and if anyone is lying to Congress, that’s a felony,” he also said.
Earlier this week, Bondi confirmed to CNN and other media outlets that she was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer and received treatment, including surgery, for the disease.
Bondi was replaced by Trump in early April with Blanche, who was the president’s former personal attorney before he was tapped to join the administration. At the time, Trump and Bondi said that she would be working in the private sector.
Officials with the New York City medical examiner’s office ruled that Epstein killed himself in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019 while he was on trial on sex trafficking charges. Maxwell, a British socialite, was convicted in 2021 of luring teenage girls to be sexually abused by Epstein and is now serving a 20-year term in a federal prison.
The DOJ was tasked with releasing files related to Epstein and Maxwell under a measure, the Epstein Files Transparency Act, that was passed in Congress and signed into law by Trump. Previously, some lawmakers had accused the department of not releasing all the files or slow-walking the process.
Blanche, who was involved with overseeing the release of the files, said earlier this year that more than 3 million pages were released, noting that a significant amount of work was required to issue redactions of witness names, among other procedures, before the files were disseminated to the public.

A senior lawmaker from Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s CDU has proposed requiring Germans to use their homes to pay for elderly care, triggering a political row over social welfare amid the country’s mounting fiscal pressures.
The proposal by Albert Stegemann, deputy chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag, would tighten eligibility rules for public assistance with nursing-home costs, potentially requiring homeowners to draw on property wealth before receiving state support.
“Those who own assets must first use their own assets, including their home, before the community pays,” Stegemann told Bild on Thursday.
Germany’s long-term care system works in three stages. Mandatory insurance covers part of nursing-home costs, with patients expected to pay the remainder from their pension, savings or other assets. If those funds are exhausted, state social welfare assistance covers the gap.
Stegemann argues that homeowners should be required to draw on housing wealth before gaining access to that final layer of taxpayer-funded support.
The proposal comes as Berlin prepares a major overhaul of long-term care financing. Health Minister Nina Warken has warned that Germany’s statutory care insurance system could face deficits of more than €22 billion over the next two years unless reforms are adopted.
The debate is unfolding against the backdrop of mounting strain on Germany’s welfare model. Europe’s largest economy has endured years of stagnation following the energy shock caused by the Ukraine conflict. Although Germany officially emerged from recession in 2025, growth is forecast at just 0.5% in 2026 after a new Middle East-driven energy crisis dealt another blow to its industrial sector.
Nevertheless, Germany is spending heavily on both Ukraine and its own military buildup. It has committed more than €96 billion in military and civilian aid for Kiev since 2022, while announcing a domestic €100 billion rearmament drive.

Rats, raw sewage, skin diseases: Israel’s siege is ravaging Gaza’s displaced
As Israel continues to restrict aid, Gaza’s shattered health system is struggling to treat and contain illnesses spreading through overcrowded tent camps.
Eman Abu Jame had counted her family among the lucky ones. Israel bombed their home in the southern Gaza Strip at the beginning of the war, forcing them to move from one shelter to another. But throughout the first two years of the genocide, neither she, her husband, nor her children suffered any serious health problems.
That all changed in October 2025, when they took refuge in a crowded tent camp in Khan Younis.
By the time they arrived, the lack of hygiene, spread of insects, and severe overcrowding had turned the camp into a breeding ground for disease. Two months later, Abu Jame’s 8-year-old son, Mousa, and her 47-year-old husband, Abdul Majeed, began showing symptoms: Their bodies started to swell, accompanied by severe diarrhea and high fevers.
Due to the difficult economic conditions and skyrocketing prices of meat, fish, and other protein-rich foods, their protein levels dropped rapidly, worsening their ability to retain fluids.
“We were completely unable to buy food and water,” Abu Jame told +972 Magazine. Everything was so expensive back then, and we simply did not have the money. My husband couldn’t afford anything — even bread was unavailable.”
Doctors struggled to diagnose both father and son. At first, they suspected a gluten allergy, but tests ruled it out. Travelling abroad for treatment was also impossible due to the closure of crossings. The only effective treatment was medical albumin, a protein solution that helped stabilize their condition.
“When [Mousa] took the medication, he would get better,” Abu Jame explained. “But whenever he missed it, his body would start swelling up all over again.”
Yet the treatment was extremely difficult to acquire. Since October 7, 2023, Israel has heavily restricted the entry of medicines and blocked international NGOs from delivering medical supplies to the Strip. Even after the announcement of a ceasefire last October, Israel continued to block aid; as of this month, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, 47 percent of essential medicines, 59 percent of medical supplies, and 87 percent of laboratory testing materials are out of stock.
As the medication ran out, Mousa’s body swelled further with fluid, and he died in January. Three months later, Abdul Majeed also succumbed to the same mysterious illness that doctors had failed to diagnose.
While the disease remained unidentified, it was clearly linked to conditions in the camp — potentially transmitted by a rodent bite or an ectoparasitic infestation. “Our forces crossed the Litani, and they’ve advanced to the dominating terrain,” Netanyahu said on a visit to troops on the northern border. “We’re also operating in Beirut, and in the Beqaa, across the entire front, and hitting Hezbollah hard.”
The comments came as Lebanese state media reported at least six people killed in Israeli strikes on south Lebanon on Friday, including a local police officer in the town of Ebba, north of the Litani River.
Meanwhile, the military said twice Friday morning that it intercepted suspected Hezbollah drones over areas where troops were operating in southern Lebanon. The suspected drones triggered sirens in the Israeli border communities of Shtula, Misgav Am and Margaliot.

Super PAC Network Backing Connie Chan Received Hundreds of Thousands from AIPAC
AIPAC’s United Democracy Project, along with its offshoot DMFI, has funneled money to a network of Super PACs now backing the San Francisco supervisor.
San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan has pledged not to accept support from “AIPAC or its lobbyists and representatives” in her bid for California’s 11th congressional district, but federal campaign records show that the pro-Israel organization is working behind the scenes to funnel money to support her candidacy.
The money from AIPAC and its offshoot Democratic Majority for Israel (DMFI), which is approaching $500,000, has taken a circuitous route to San Francisco. Following the money trail requires sifting through several layers of complexity, but the picture that emerges at the end is clear.
On April 13, DMFI sent $22,500 to a super PAC called EDW Action Fund, which has been used in previous campaigns as a front for AIPAC spending. Ten days later, on April 23, it gave another $15,250, bringing the total month’s transfer $37,750.
AIPAC sponsors its own super PAC, called United Democracy Project, and UDP got into the game too, dropping $250,000 into EDW Action on April 14, a day after DMFI’s initial dump. EDW Action thus received $287,750 from AIPAC-aligned super PACs that month.
But EDW Action had previously been exposed by Drop Site and others as a known AIPAC pass-through. On May 1, a new PAC was formed, called Pro-Choice Majority Action. That PAC is legally affiliated directly with EDW Action.
Given that Pro-Choice Majority Action registered with the FEC on the first of the month, its first disclosure date falls on June 20, allowing the organization to evade filing requirements until more than two weeks after the California primaries conclude on June 2. Such vehicles are known as “pop-up PACs,” since they can pop up right before an election, spend huge sums of money, and avoid disclosing donor records until it’s too late to matter to voters.
Pro-Choice Majority Action has already spent a total of $475,000 supporting Chan, with much more likely to come through Election Day on Tuesday. Because the new PAC is formally affiliated with EDW Action, the two can transfer unlimited sums of money between themselves. As of April 30, EDW Action’s largest contribution had come from the “Kimbark Foundation,” a nonprofit that itself popped up just before moving money to EDW, which has raised only $1.25 million for the cycle. Kimbark’s only other contribution, also for $500,000, was to 314 Action Fund, another known AIPAC vehicle, which spent heavily to support Ala Stanford in her failed bid against Chris Rabb in Philadelphia. AIPAC has consistently denied it played a role in that race.
Though AIPAC’s Twitter account spent much of Saturday complaining about Drop Site News, the organization did not respond to a request for comment on its newly discovered spending. On Twitter, AIPAC argued that scrutiny of its shell PACs was “[p]art of an orchestrated campaign to single out and demonize individual pro-Israel Americans for supporting candidates of their choice,” representing a “level of scrutiny not applied to any other group of citizens.”
EDW Action Fund previously spent just over $500,000 supporting Laura Fine in a Chicago-area congressional race. Fine had the backing of AIPAC but lost. EDW Action used Symmetry Media LLC to make its ad buy in that race; the documents show that Symmetry Media was also used to make the new expenditures on behalf of Connie Chan.
Chan, who has the endorsement of outgoing Rep. Nancy Pelosi, faces state Sen. Scott Wiener and Saikat Chakrabarti, a co-founder of Justice Democrats and the former chief of staff to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Chaos erupts in Paris after PSG wins Champions League (VIDEOS)
More than 400 people were detained in the French capital, police said
Fans torched scooters and clashed with police in Paris on Saturday after local football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) won the Champions League, defeating Arsenal.
According to AFP, some 20,000 people gathered on the Champs-Elysees to watch a broadcast of the match, which was played in Budapest, Hungary. The crowd erupted in celebration after the French club beat its English rival in a dramatic 4-3 penalty shootout.
Violence soon broke out as some fans set scooters on fire and launched fireworks at police.
