Muslims were, for the most part, hated for generations and generations because they turned a blind eye to the constant attacks of the Saracens (who were muslims) and would run pirating operations, and would raid coastal areas and take over towns, killing the men and raping the women and selling the children into slavery. They did this for hundreds and hundreds of years.
