Iran’s Supreme Leader warns against public frustration, urges unity

Updated: 11:44 GMT+1
Iran’s Supreme Leader MojtabaKhamenei said the United States and what he called the global imperialism is opposed to Iran’s “distinct and unyielding identity,” casting the conflict with Washington a confrontation over thenature of the Iranian nation rather than only military or diplomatic disputes.
“The system of domination, led by America, has a problem with this nation and its distinct and unyielding identity,” said a message read out on Khamenei’s behalf marking the anniversary of the death of Islamic Republic founder Ruhollah Khomeini.
He said the United States and Israel could not accept the existence of a strong andindependent Iran near what he described as the eastern edge of the “false geography” of Greater Israel.
Khamenei said the enemy had suffered defeat against Iran’s armed forcesand had alsoexperienced what he called a “meaningful and deep humiliation” in the streets. KEK
He said theenemy was now focusing its “hybrid war” on two goals: undermining public belief and creating miscalculation among officials.
(Iran’s greatest strength is their paranoia about everything)
The Supreme Leader said themain tools of that effort were planting “doubt, despair, fear, suspicion and division,” and urged officials and the public to respond with unity, clarity and mutual trust.
He also warned officials that any action causing public frustration or distrust would amount to helping the enemy.
“Any action that causes pessimism and disillusionment among the people is a form of assistance to the enemy of this country and its people,” he said. (Now they think they can control the public’s opinions on Iran, can manage their emotions or thoughts.)
He described the current moment as a new opportunity to promote what he called the school of Ruhollah Khomeini andhis slain father, whom he portrayed as “martyred” but victorious.

US Representative Tim Burchett said on Wednesday he was not concerned about a House-passed measure seeking to limit President Donald Trump’s war powers regarding Iran, saying it was unlikely to advance in the Senate.
Burchett said Democrats brought the measure to a vote when several Republican lawmakers were absent. “It won’t go anywhere in the Senate, I am not really worried about it,” he posted on X.
Burchett also said the United States should ensure Iran’s uranium stockpile is secured, adding, “We better get that uranium out of the ground or they will be using it on us over there, so we will see what happens.”

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz faces backlash for running in a district long represented by Black Democrats
Black Democrats running in the South Florida district are considering coalescing to force a one-on-one matchup against the well-funded congresswoman.
WASHINGTON —Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz faces significant pushback from Black Democrats after she decided to run in a newly redrawn district in South Florida that has a plurality of Black voters and a crowded primary field.
The Florida political landscape was scrambled after Gov. Ron DeSantis signed legislation last month creating new congressional maps. Instead of running in the 22nd Congressional District, where she lives, Wasserman Schultz opted to run in the more Democratic-leaning 20th District, which has long been represented by a Black Democrat.
The move has angered Black leaders and candidates in the district, especially when Republicans have tried to wipe out districts long held by Black Democrats after a recent Supreme Court decision that limits the consideration of race in drawing congressional maps.
Four Black candidates running in the primary have even discussed coalescing around one or two candidates to take on Wasserman Schultz rather than split the Black vote, according to one of the participants in the meeting.
Wasserman Schultz, an 11-term incumbent and former chair of the Democratic National Committee, announced her decision last month, saying she wanted to ensure her seniority would not be lost.
She argued that if Democrats take control of the House, she would be in line to chair a key committee, which would be good for the district.
“You have always been able to count on me to deliver results for our community,” she said in a video announcing her decision to run, which emphasized her “seniority” and “clout.”
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., who would be in line to become the first Black speaker if Democrats take control of the House in November, told reporters Tuesday that he has not yet decided whether he is endorsing in the race.
“Haven’t made a decision as it relates to that particular race,” said Jeffries, who normally, as caucus leader, would be expected to support an incumbent.
Asked by NBC News on Wednesday about Jeffries’ declining to endorse, Wasserman Schultz said, “He didn’t say that,” before she quickly walked into the Democratic cloakroom and onto the House floor.
She later told NBC News in a statement that she is “thankful” for the support she is receiving.
“I’m thankful for the strong broad support I’ve received all over CD20,” she said. “I’ll continue to talk with Broward voters and make my case that I’ll be the most effective representative for this whole community, and as always, I’m not taking any support for granted.”
Black Democratic members of Congress have been critical of her decision.
“If I were in her shoes, I can’t say. … Actually, I do know what I would do,” Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, said Wednesday. “I wouldn’t do it if I was her, but I’m not her. Because everybody has their reasons for why it is that they want to do what they want to do.”
“But I think that there are people that are very concerned, especially with the Black Caucus continuously being under attack,” she added.
Black Democrats in Florida have also greeted Wasserman Schultz’s decision with almost universal scorn.

SECRETARY RUBIO: Cuba is actually not controlled by the government. Cuba is controlled by a military holding company named GAESA. GAESA owns virtually everything, and not a penny of that money translates over to the public treasury.
