Guys I think I know how we can make the space laser tank cutter. Call it "High Power Fiber Laser (HPFL)"

WE MILITECH NOW

All we need is to store 200MJ of energy in space and have a 100MW output at source

The spot size on ground will be <50cm in diameter

How does it actually cut?

Ionization: The beam hits the tank's armor, instantly ionizing the surface layer into plasma.

Ablation: The laser energy vaporizes the steel, blowing a jet of superheated metal outward (like a reverse rocket).

Thermal Shock: Because we are cutting so fast (under 2s), the heat doesn't have time to conduct through the armor plate. It creates a localized "melt zone" that expands explosively.

Severance: The structural integrity fails instantly. The top half of the tank drops away from the bottom, separated by a glowing seam of molten slag.
