Israel Intensifies the Killing in Gaza as the World Looks Away

“They have taken everything from us. They have taken away the possibility for life.”

Eight-year-old Jad Suleiman was walking home from school in the Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza on Monday when the Israeli airstrike hit. A piece of shrapnel lodged in his neck, killing him instantly. Outside Shifa hospital, his body lay on a stretcher wrapped in a loose white sheet. Dressed in jeans and a blue and red checkered shirt, the smallness of his body was accentuated by his oversized backpack, still on his limp shoulders.

Jad’s father, Youssef Suleiman, was beyond grief. He wept uncontrollably as he bent over his son’s lifeless body, caressing and kissing his face. “I am not able to speak,” Suleiman told Drop Site News. He was breathing heavily, almost gasping for air. He had removed his son’s backpack and was clutching it to his chest. “My son is 8 years old. What was his crime? He was coming home from school. This is his bag, there is blood on it. This is the bag. This is the bag,” he repeated, unable to continue.

Three Palestinians were killed in the attack, including eight-year-old Jad and a 70-year-old man. Several others were wounded in the strike and brought into Shifa on stretchers, bloodied and wincing in pain.

“You leave your house, not knowing whether you are going to return or whether you are going to die,” Jad’s aunt, Warda Muhaysin, told Drop Site. “There is blood in the streets. It’s enough. Enough…where is the ceasefire people are talking about?”

As the world has turned its attention to the wars on Iran and Lebanon, and with a “ceasefire” in Gaza entering its ninth month, the ongoing genocide is steadily becoming more acute.

May was the deadliest month in 2026 for Palestinians in Gaza, with at least 119 killed, including 19 children, according to a report last week by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights citing Gaza Health Ministry figures, which noted an “escalation in mass killings and assassinations that the Israeli occupation forces continue to perpetrate against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.”

And the killing is ramping up. At least 46 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in the first nine days of June alone, according to a daily tally of Health Ministry figures, including several children.

A total of eight Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks on Monday across the enclave. In another attack, this time in Gaza City, an Israeli helicopter gunship flew menacingly low before firing a missile into a residential building in the neighborhood of Tel al-Hawa, wounding another Palestinian child.

“We were baking something in the oven, and our children were playing near this corner of the building,” an eyewitness told Drop Site. “All of a sudden, we saw the helicopter flying. We kept looking at it and asking, ‘Where is it going to bomb?’ It turned out that it was bombing us, not anyone else. We absolutely did not expect it to strike us because they were only little kids playing.”

Israel has killed nearly a thousand Palestinians since it signed a ceasefire agreement with Hamas on October 10, 2025, with more than 1,400 airstrikes and shelling attacks, and over 1,200 shooting incidents, according to a report shared by the Palestinian side with mediators and obtained by Drop Site. Over 3,000 have been wounded.

“The war has returned. Every day there are tens of martyrs and tens of wounded. It has returned, but without being announced. There is no coverage of Gaza,” Azmi Abu Sharby, a Palestinian who lives in Shujaiyeh, a neighborhood east of Gaza City, told Drop Site. “It is all about Iran and all about Lebanon, and Gaza is bombed every day and slaughtered every day.”

Armed conflicts worldwide hit record since WWII – report

Sixty-five state-based conflicts were recorded worldwide in 2025, according to the Peace Research Institute Oslo

The number of armed conflicts worldwide reached its highest level since World War II in 2025, according to a study published on Tuesday by the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO).

Researchers found there were 65 state-based conflicts – involving at least one government actor – the highest number since systematic records began in 1946. The report estimates that about 245,000 people were killed in battle-related violence last year, making it one of the deadliest years in recent decades.

“The world today is … far more fragmented,” the researchers said, describing an “unprecedented” number of simultaneous wars fueled by both long-running crises and new outbreaks of large-scale fighting. They cited the escalation of the Ukraine conflict, Israel’s war in Gaza and the civil war in Sudan.

The number of interstate conflicts doubled from the previous year to a record eight in 2025, including clashes involving India and Pakistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan, and Cambodia and Thailand.

PRIO said the 65 conflicts recorded were spread across 35 countries, with several states involved in multiple wars simultaneously. Israel, for example, has been a party to conflicts linked to Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, and Yemen, while Myanmar, Pakistan, and Nigeria also faced more than one armed conflict.

Africa was the region most affected by state-based violence, followed by Asia, the Middle East, the Americas, and Europe. According to PRIO, more than 930,000 people have been killed in state-based conflicts since 2021 – roughly matching the total recorded during the previous two decades.

SNAP Benefits Go To 186,000 Dead People… And Stopping Them Might Be Difficult

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) released a report last month stating that 185,986 deceased people in 29 states were receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits as of July 1, 2025, at an annual cost of $419.6 million. It also reported an additional $3 billion in potential fraud, waste, and abuse.

On May 21, a federal jury convicted a man who stole the identity of Carlos Ramon Obregon, who was killed in a 1977 Los Angeles drive-by shooting. Decades after the 14-year-old’s death, the defendant used the dead teen’s identity to collect about $283,000 in government benefits, including SNAP benefits, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income, and COVID-19 payments.

That’s just one example that the administration has outlined to highlight the issue. Here’s what to know about the problem of dead recipients, which has been lingering for decades.

Renewed Focus by Trump Admin

Trump directed federal agencies via executive order in March 2025 to ensure “unfettered access” to data from federally funded state programs such as SNAP, also known as food stamps.

In response, the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service told state agencies on May 6, 2025, that all records associated with SNAP must be made available to the federal government.

“For years, this program has been on autopilot, with no USDA insight into real-time data,” Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins wrote in a letter to states.

Following the USDA’s demand for detailed information on food stamp recipients to review for fraud, a coalition of 21 states and the District of Columbia filed a federal lawsuit against the USDA, accusing the agency of unlawfully demanding massive amounts of sensitive SNAP recipient data.

Iranian armed forces to leave no attack unanswered, FM warns after fresh US aggression

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned the United States that its most recent spate of attacks on southern Iranian areas "will not go unanswered."

The top Iranian diplomat made the remarks in a post on X early on Wednesday after the US struck multiple locations across the Hormozgan Province.

"Despite its defeats on the battlefield, the U.S. opted to test our determination," he wrote, warning that the Iranian armed forces "will leave no attack or threat unanswered."

"Leave our region if you want to be safe," he stated, adding that "the history of the Persian Gulf has many chapters on dire fates of intruding outsiders."

Earlier, the Islamic Republic's national broadcaster reported that several locations in the southern Iranian province had been hit by US projectiles.

It named the Qeshm Island and the Jask and Sirik Counties as the targets.

Right before the attacks, in a statement posted to social media, US Central Command had said it had begun strikes against Iran following the crash of a US Army Apache helicopter off the coast of Oman.

A day earlier, US President Donald Trump had acknowledged that one such helicopter had gone down near the Strait of Hormuz, confirming a report by The New York Times. Trump had vowed that the United States "must" respond, accusing Iran of downing it.

Iranian officials and military forces have denied any role in the incident, warning that any act of aggression against the country will certainly warrant reprisal.

Disgraced mayor sentenced to 90 days in jail for sexually abusing son’s teenage friend

A disgraced Louisiana ex-mayor has been sentenced to jail time after being convicted of sexually abusing her son’s 16-year-old friend.

Disgraced former mayor Misty Roberts was torched by her teenage victim’s mother as she was sentenced to 90 days in jail for sexually assaulting her son’s friend at a party in 2024.

“Danger doesn’t always look like danger. Danger doesn’t always look like a man with candy or a puppy in a van or strangers we tell our kids to beware of,” the mother told the court at the 43-year-old’s sentencing hearing on Tuesday.

“This predator has hair extensions, high heels, Botox and other augmentations,” she added, choking back tears.

Roberts, a mother-oftwo from Louisiana, said she will serve the time instead of posting the AUD $213,705.60 bond ordered by the judge, but she also dodged a huge prison sentence, according to The New York Post.

Prosecutors asked the judge to give her the maximum time, 17 years, after she was convicted in March of sexually assaulting the woman’s 16-year-old son in July 2024.

The age of consent in Louisiana is 17-years-old.

“In your statement today I didn’t feel totally comfortable with that. I was not particularly swayed by that,” Judge D. Kent Savoie said, explaining he didn’t buy her misty-eyed apology.

“I was substantially touched by what I heard about how this affected the victim’s family.”

Savoie also meted out two 5-year suspended sentences and mandated that Roberts undergo therapy and pass regular drug and alcohol tests.

AI technology boss, 54, found dead at £2.5m family home with 'stab wound in his chest' as woman arrested on suspicion of murder

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the boss of a leading technology firm died at his £2.5million country home.

Neil Muller, 54, suffered stab wounds to his chest early on Sunday morning.

A woman, 55, was arrested an hour later, police said. She has since been released on bail.

Mr Muller was found injured at his gated, five-bedroom property in the upmarket village of Claverdon, Warwickshire.

Paramedics were called at 6.15am but he was declared dead at the scene at 6.37am.

Warwickshire police said a woman from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of murder at 7.33am.

Mystery Car Bombing Near Moscow May Have Taken Out A Top General

In what appears the latest targeted killing in a string of high profile assassinations of top Russian military brass since the Ukraine war began, an unidentified man - possibly a high-ranking military officer, was reportedly blown up Tuesday morning after a bomb detonated in his car.

The incident happened very early in the morning Tuesday in a suburb called Balashikha, just outside the Russian capital. While Russian authorities have yet to release the identity of the deceased man, it happened very near an area known to host residences of military and government officials.

"The location of Tuesday’s explosion is not far from where Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik — the deputy head of the General Staff’s main operational directorate — was killed in a car bombing last year," the Amsterdam-based Moscow Times writes.

Investigators said an "explosive device was detonated while a BMW X3 car was driving near a residential apartment building."

In this newest case, the speculation on Telegram is that the fatality was a 62-year-old lieutenant general. A formal investigation is underway:

Security camera footage circulated by pro-Kremlin media showed the vehicle bursting into flames from the trunk and back seats before rolling into a parked vehicle. According to the Telegram channel Mash, bystanders rushed to pull the driver out of the burning wreckage, but he died shortly after.

Russia's internal security service, the FSB, previously said it is making great efforts to tighten around high-ranking military officers of late.

This possibly adds, pending the details, to a growing list of high profile assassinations related to the Ukraine war. To review:

—Darya Dugina was killed in a car bombing in 2022 which was likely meant for her father, prominent political thinker and often dubbed "Putin ally" Aleksandr Dugin.

—Gen Igor Kirillov died in December 2024 outside of his residence when a bomb planted in a nearby scooter detonated.

—Gen Yaroslav Moskalik, who served as deputy head of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, was killed in a car bomb attack last April. A "homemade" explosive device detonated under his Volkswagen Golf in a residential neighborhood.

Throughout the course of the war there's been a string of these high profile assassinations on Russian soil involving car and even cafe bombs.

Viral Influencer: How Bill Gates’ Billions Shape US Medical Research

Bill Gates has long been one of the most admired people in the world, especially since he stepped down from his role running Microsoft to devote himself and much of his fortune to philanthropy. That reputation has been tarnished recently, however, by revelations of the billionaire’s close relation with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and exposés on his own fraught relationships with women.

On the eve of Gates’ private testimony with Congress scheduled for tomorrow, a trove of federal whistleblower documents provided to RealClearInvestigations is renewing questions about how Gates money has bought what critics complain is an untoward influence on government health policy. For almost a quarter of a century, his main vehicle of power, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, has donated hundreds of millions of dollars to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), allowing Gates to shape the direction of the country’s health strategy in ways that have benefitted his own priorities and pet causes while polishing his image as a benevolent global do-gooder.

At a time of growing concern about the power of billionaires such as Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Sam Altman, Gates’ efforts stand out. Instead of lobbying federal agencies for specific policies, Gates leveraged his wealth to work inside the government, partnering with high-ranking NIH officials to steer taxpayer research funding and design scientific policies for several federal programs.

The cache of several dozen emails and documents, made public for the first time by an NIH whistleblower, reinforces previous reports detailing Gates’s extensive influence over U.S. biomedical research. During the height of the COVID pandemic, Kate Elder, a senior vaccines policy adviser for Doctors Without Borders, complained to Politico, “What makes Bill Gates qualified to be giving advice and advising the U.S. government on where they should be putting the tremendous resources?”

Emails and internal plans, for example, show that the NIH – the world’s largest funder of biomedical research – gave the Gates Foundation first billing for the joint workshops and meeting held on federal property.

Like most philanthropies, the Gates Foundation tries to grow its endowment through investments. Some of these efforts, especially its stake in vaccine companies, blur the lines between profit-seeking and the foundation’s mission to develop and deliver vaccines around the world. This symbiotic relationship between capitalism and charity also benefits Gates, whose power and position hinge in large part on the size of his foundation’s assets. Before the pandemic, The Nation magazine reported that the Gates Foundation had a $40 million stake in CureVac – this was not a grant but an investment. CureVac was one of many companies the nonprofit bought stock in that were working on COVID vaccines and therapeutics.

Around that same period, the Gates Foundation announced that it had begun to “leverage a portion of its $2.5 billion Strategic Investment Fund” to advance the nonprofit’s COVID work. The Gates Foundation also turned a $55 million investment in Pfizer’s COVID vaccine partner, BioNTech, into over $550 million when it sold stock a couple of years later after the vaccine hit the market.

Vance Reacts After Israel Reportedly Caught Spying On Pentagon

“Well look, obviously the Israelis and I – excuse me, the Israelis and the United States have a lot of shared interests, but we also have some situations where our interests diverge,” Vance told Waters.

“The president has been very clear that while Israel obviously has some objectives that it has, the United States’ main objective in Iran does not have a nuclear weapon, and we’ve actually created the space necessary where the president believes that we can get the long-term settlement to Iran’s nuclear deal.”

The Israeli embassy in Washingtons has slammed the reports as 'completely false': "This entire story is false and sourced to someone who doesn’t have any knowledge of what’s going on," it said in a statement.

But the major US media reports highlight American intel officials who don't try and tone down or couch their words. Instead they speak of "unhinged" Israeli spying on US government officials.

Vance also said in the fresh Tuesday comments that a pending peace deal between Washington and Tehran was a “home run for the American people,” whether or not Israel liked it.
