REPORT: Here Are The Names Being Floated to Trump for Director of National Intelligence

President Trump is currently interviewing a few different people to replace Tulsi Gabbard as the Director of National Intelligence.

Bill Pulte, the federal housing regulator, is currently serving as the Acting DNI, however, President Trump said Pulte will not be in the role permanently.

According to Semafor, GOP Rep. Elise Stefanik, Deputy Director of the CIA Michael Ellis and others are in the running to replace Pulte.

One name in the mix is Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., who almost served as Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations before he pulled the nomination, arguing that her departure from Congress would jeopardize Republicans’ slim majority. That became a less urgent task on Tuesday after passage of the GOP’s $70 billion immigration enforcement bill.

Others inside and close to the administration have floated names like Michael Ellis, the deputy director of the CIA, and House Intelligence Chair Rep. Rick Crawford, R-Ark., as contenders for the permanent director of national intelligence role.

Crawford declined to comment on any of the speculation he or Stefanik could be named: “I’m just doing my job,” he said.

The White House referred Semafor to Trump’s Truth Social post late Tuesday, which said that Pulte will take over as acting director on June 19. A Stefanik spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.

Another possible candidate floated by some inside the Trump administration is Cliff Sims, who serves as one of Vice President JD Vance’s national security advisers. One person close to the White House even suggested that former Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz, who is currently a Fox News contributor, is interested in the post.

The UK has accused Elon Musk of stoking tensions over his reaction to a knife attack which triggered anti-immigrant riots in Belfast.

Violence erupted in the Northern Irish capital on Tuesday night after a Sudanese asylum seeker allegedly carried out a stabbing attack which left a man blind in his left eye.

Masked gangs attacked homes, torched vehicles, and clashed with police, prompting authorities to urge calm.

A 30-year-old Sudanese man appeared in court on Wednesday charged with attempted murder. The incident comes amid an increasingly heated debate over immigration in Britain, fueled by a series of high-profile crimes involving foreign nationals.

Musk, a longtime critic of the UK government, posted on X ahead of the unrest: “Only by protesting REPEATEDLY and LOUDLY will there be any change!!”

He also shared a post from right-wing activist Tommy Robinson listing dozens of protest locations across the UK.

Labour Party Chair Anna Turley condemned Musk on Wednesday, claiming the billionaire was helping inflame tensions during the unrest.

“It’s appalling. Anyone that is seeking to drive and exploit a situation like this to drive their own political agenda is grievously wrong and doing damage,” she told LBC.

Turley said the tech mogul, commenting from “thousands of miles away,” did not have to live with the consequences of the unrest in Northern Ireland.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer joined the criticism, warning that those inciting or carrying out the “unacceptable” violence – online or on the streets – would face the full force of the law.

Last week, Starmer said Musk was trying to “whip up division” after the fatal stabbing of 18-year-old Henry Nowak.

Musk has made several posts about the case, which has triggered public outrage and protests in Britain, as well as a public apology from the prime minister.

Nowak was fatally stabbed in December by Vickrum Singh Digwa, a 23-year-old Sikh man, who falsely claimed to police that he had been the victim of a racist attack.

Footage released after Digwa’s sentencing showed officers handcuffing and dragging Nowak despite his repeated pleas that he had been stabbed and could not breathe. He later lost consciousness and died.

Musk was among those to allege that British police had treated Nowak differently because of his ethnicity.

India summons US diplomat after missile attack on oil tanker off Oman

New Delhi has condemned the strike on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz which left three Indian sailors missing

The Indian Foreign Ministry has condemned an attack on an oil tanker off the coast of Oman and called for an “immediate de-escalation of tensions” in the Strait of Hormuz.

New Delhi also summoned US Chargé d’Affaires Jason Meeks to protest the assault on the ship.

Three Indian crew members are missing following the attack on the vessel, which had 24 on board, New Delhi said.

The Palau-flagged products tanker MT Settebello issued a distress call on Wednesday, reporting a missile attack on its engine room, 20 nautical miles northeast of Sohar in the Gulf of Oman.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a post on X that "U.S. aircraft fired precision munitions into the ship’s engine room after the crew repeatedly failed to comply with directions from American forces."

“We condemn the attack on the commercial vessel Settebello off the coast of Oman, earlier today,” the Indian Foreign Ministry said. “Of the 24 Indian crew onboard, 21 Indians have been rescued thus far and three Indians are reportedly missing.”

“The continuing incidents of attacks on shipping in the region are deeply worrisome and a direct result of the ongoing conflict in the region,” the ministry said.

The Indian Embassy in Oman said it is monitoring the situation and “proactively coordinating with the Omani authorities in the ongoing search and rescue operation.” The ship tracking website Marine Traffic has listed the ship’s destination as Fujairah, UAE.

The Ukraine conflict appears to be an “ethnic cleansing” project aimed at removing the Russian-speaking population from the country’s eastern border regions, US conservative commentator Candace Owens has said.

Owens made the remarks in an interview with Russian filmmaker and TV host Nikita Mikhalkov during a discussion about the roots of the conflict and the West’s attitude toward Russia.

“I think what’s happening in Ukraine is an ethnic cleansing,” Owens said, arguing that it was “obvious” that large numbers of fighting-age men were being killed, and suggested that “the ultimate goal” of those behind the conflict was to move in “other people” to Ukraine’s border regions.

Moscow has long maintained that the conflict stems from the Western-backed 2014 coup in Kiev, which overthrew then-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, and the subsequent military campaign launched by the new authorities against Donbass, where much of the population is Russian-speaking and historically close to Russia.

Mikhalkov stressed that Russia was not fighting Ukrainians but “Satan,” arguing that Kiev had turned against Russia, the Orthodox faith and the shared history of the two peoples. Since 2014, Ukraine has effectively banned the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and barred the use of the Russian language in virtually all aspects of life.

Owens agreed with the broader religious framing of the conflict, suggesting that “satanic” forces have established a foothold in the West. She pointed to modern France and the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, which included a parody of Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper with drag performers and LGBT imagery, as an example of Satanism and a mockery of Christianity.

She also noted that “satanic” forces in the West fear Russia because its emphasis on history gives people a different understanding of the world.

Owens linked that idea to several major revolutions, including the French Revolution of 1789 and the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, which she described as “satanic.” After taking power, the Bolsheviks launched a violent anti-religious campaign against the Russian Orthodox Church, seizing church property, persecuting clergy and promoting state atheism.

Immigration Officers Warned That English Flag is ‘Intimidating’ for Migrants.

An official report warned immigration detention officers in England that displaying the English flag intimidates detained migrants.

Last year, during the summer, officers working at an immigration detention facility in the United Kingdom were told that wearing England flag badges on their uniforms “risked perceptions of bias or even intimidation among detained people, especially in the light of recent anti-immigration protests in which flag displays were prominent.” The officers were wearing the badges to show support for the England women’s soccer team following their victory at the European Championship. Under British law, migrants with no legal standing to remain in the country must be held for the short-term in government-approved facilities before they are sent back to their country of origin or released. Among others, the display of the national flag was listed as a potential cause for “emotional distress.” The report was published on Wednesday by the Independent Monitoring Boards (IMB), public oversight bodies inside prisons, removal facilities, and similar facilities. The IMB’s annual report is based on 127 annual reports from relevant facilities.

“At a minimum, the Board concluded that this raised concerns about professional standards and workplace culture at the facility,” read the report from the IMB.

This story underscores the extent to which England’s national flag has come to be regarded as a divisive political symbol by the country’s own authorities. In early April, Oxfordshire County Council in England threatened the ‘Raise the Colours’ campaign, which has been raising English and British flags on lampposts and other public infrastructure across the country, with legal action. The leader of the council said: “The widespread installation of flags by Raise the Colours is not a sign of patriotism. It is an act of intimidation and division.” The month prior, a leaked government report described the British, English, and Scottish flags as “tools of hate.”

Federal Court Overturns Historic Fluoride Ruling as Trump Admin Fights to Keep Fluoride in the Water

A federal appeals court has overturned a historic federal ruling that found that fluoride poses an “unreasonable risk,” sending the case back to a district court and directing the court to ignore evidence presented after 2020.

On May 21, a federal appeals court overturned a September 2024 federal ruling that concluded that water fluoridation “poses an unreasonable risk of reduced IQ in children.” The appeals court ruled in favor of arguments put forth by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), namely that the district court had “abused its discretion when it refused to rule on the first trial record” in summer 2020.

The new ruling comes nearly a decade after plaintiffs first filed a citizen petition under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) in November 2016. The EPA denied the petition, and the groups sued, leading to a decade-long legal saga between the EPA, parents of children impacted by water fluoridation, the Fluoride Action Network (FAN), and Food & Water Watch (FWW).

The lawsuit eventually made its way to a San Francisco courtroom in June 2020. At the conclusion of two weeks of testimony, Judge Edward Chen delayed ruling on the lawsuit. By August 2020, he placed the case in abeyance pending a review of the literature on fluoride from the US National Toxicology Program (NTP). The wait for the NTP review took nearly four years.

In September 2024, after reviewing the NTP’s historic report on water fluoridation, Judge Chen ruled in the plaintiffs’ favor and ordered the EPA to take regulatory action and implement a rule to reduce the harm posed by water fluoridation.

That decision has now been overturned by the federal appeals court, and the case has been sent back to Chen. The judge must now rule exclusively on the data presented in the 2020 phase of the convoluted legal process.

In its brief, the appellate court stated:

“The district court’s ‘radical transformation’ of the case by holding the case in abeyance for a year and a half and declining to rule on the first trial record as requested by both parties went ‘well beyond the pale.’ We accordingly vacate and remand to the district court to rule based solely on the first trial record.”

Michael Connett, the lead attorney representing the plaintiffs, said, “The court has to forget everything it has learned since then (2020) and has to make a ruling based on whether fluoridation poses a risk to human health based on an outdated, stale factual record.”

Connett also said he was surprised by how quickly the appellate court ruled on the matter.

“The second thing that surprised me is how brief the opinion was. I mean, it was less than seven pages of text,” Connett stated in an exclusive interview with The Last American Vagabond.

“There was very little reasoning and analysis in the opinion. It basically just accepted the EPA’s argument that the district court violated this doctrine called the party presentation principle. It’s a relatively obscure legal doctrine,” Connett said. “But the court found that the district court violated that doctrine by considering additional evidence after the close of the first trial.”

The party presentation principle says that courts must act as “neutral arbiters” of the facts presented by the parties. The appellate court found that Judge Chen went outside the scope of his role as a neutral arbiter by holding the case in abeyance and allowing further evidence to be presented in the second phase of the trial.

In the southern Lebanese village of Habboush, the sound that cut through the stillness of the night was not an air strike. It was the sound of a child screaming for help.

Hashem, a paramedic in the village, heard the cries coming from an Israeli quadcopter hovering overhead.

Speaking to Middle East Eye, he said this was not an isolated incident, but part of a pattern that has become increasingly familiar to residents who remain in southern villages.

“This is not the first time these drones have flown over us and broadcast different sounds,” Hashem said.

“Yesterday, it was the sound of children screaming and pleading for help. Before that, they broadcast the sound of an ambulance. Another time it was the Quran. Another time, it was the voice of a woman calling for help. We are living through this almost every day.”

For people who have decided to stay in their homes in south Lebanon despite Israeli occupation and daily bombardment, Israeli quadcopters have become a constant presence in the sky.

They surveil, issue warnings, broadcast messages and sounds, and turn the night into a psychological battlefield.

Residents and first responders say that beyond intimidation, Israeli forces use the distress sounds to lure people out of their homes or shelters, whether through fear, curiosity or the instinct to help.

Hashem said the first reaction to hearing such sounds is almost automatic.

“When you hear these voices in the silence of the night, your first instinct is to go outside and see what is happening,” he said. “That is what happened to me yesterday. But I quickly realised that it had to be coming from the drone, because it was impossible for there to be children in the village at that time, especially around midnight.”

He believes the aim is partly to spread fear among those who remain in the villages and push them to leave after exhausting them psychologically. But he also sees another, more immediate, purpose.

“Given that many villages are now empty of civilians, with only resistance fighters remaining in some areas, I think the goal may also be to lure someone out and identify them,” Hashem said.

A team led by Rebecca Katz, director of Georgetown University’s Center for Global Health Science and Security in Washington, has transformed a university laboratory into an epidemiological command center. The facility pools resources from academic institutions, nonprofit groups, and private companies to support government agencies.

The group already publishes daily status reports that flag emerging risks for hospital emergency managers and public health authorities at local, state, federal, and international levels, as well as for FIFA, soccer’s governing body.

In advanced wastewater analysis, researchers use DNA and RNA sequencing to identify genetic strands from microbes in sewage, without first requiring the growing of cultures in a laboratory setting.

“It’s incredibly powerful,” Katz said.

Collection sites in the United States and Canada, together with additional monitoring across the three host countries, already supply data to the team, with the potential to catch an outbreak in its early stages, giving clinicians time to watch for specific symptoms that might otherwise go unrecognized and allowing public health officials to issue timely precautions.

The operation also incorporates social listening tools.

Staff members analyze anonymized electronic health record data and scan open social media platforms for signs of illness clusters.

Katz noted one earlier case in which officials flagged a gastrointestinal outbreak after noticing a sudden increase in online conversations about toilet paper purchases.

The systems include new layers of aerial and ground monitoring over fans and public spaces for the duration of the event.

Former Anson, Texas City Manager Convicted of Attempted Enticement of a Minor

An Abilene federal jury convicted the former Anson, Texas City Manager of attempted enticement of a minor, announced United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Ryan Raybould.

Following a one-day trial, the jury convicted Ervin Joe Campbell, 64, on Monday, June 8, 2026, of one count of attempted enticement of a minor.

“This defendant elected to go to trial, which is his constitutional right. But we were ready, and the jury convicted him of attempted enticement of a minor after only 30 minutes of deliberation. The unfortunate and sad reality is that predators lurk in every facet of life, including those in positions of trust, like this defendant,” said U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould. “Under my watch, we will prioritize rooting out predators no matter where they lurk.”

“Protecting children from sexual predators is a top priority for Homeland Security Investigations,” said Special Agent in Charge Travis Pickard. “This conviction demonstrates the commitment of HSI and our law enforcement partners to aggressively pursue those who seek to exploit minors and to ensure they are held accountable.”

According to evidence presented at trial, several federal, state and local law enforcement agencies worked together to conduct an undercover chat operation in Abilene, Texas, targeting the solicitation of prostitution and child predators. During the operation, a sergeant with the Texas Attorney General’s Office posed as minors, aged fifteen and sixteen, via an undercover online account. The advertisement posted on Facebook Marketplace was listed as “Massage and Fun.”

The jury also heard evidence that Campbell responded to the advertisement and agreed to meet the two minors for sex even after the undercover agent informed him that she and her friend were 15 and 16 years old, respectively. Geolocation data from Campbell’s cell phone, and cell phone call detail records confirmed that Campbell left his home in Anson after the conversation on Facebook and drove approximately 30 minutes to a hotel in Abilene, Texas where he had agreed to meet the minors. He arrived with two condoms and more than $500 in cash and he had agreed to give the girls $500 in exchange for sex. Agents further discovered that Campbell had saved a contact in his cell phone for the person he believed to be a 15-year-old minor and the contact’s name was listed as “15.”

Former Virgin Islands Police Commissioner Sentenced to 10 Years In Federal Prison for Public Corruption Scheme

St. Thomas, VI –United States Attorney Adam F. Sleeper announced today that Ray Martinez, former Commissioner of the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD), was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Mark A. Kearney to 120 months in federal prison for his role in a public corruption scheme involving bribery, honest services wire fraud, money laundering, and obstruction of justice.

In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Kearney ordered Martinez to serve three years of supervised release. The Court also entered a forfeiture money judgment in the amount of $127,870.34; ordered restitution totaling $77,257.39; imposed a $5,000 fine; and ordered the payment of $900 in special assessments.

Following a jury trial, Martinez was convicted of five counts of Honest Services Wire Fraud, one count of Bribery Concerning Programs Receiving Federal Funds, one count of Money Laundering Conspiracy, and two counts of Obstruction of Justice. Evidence presented at trial established that Martinez abused his position as VIPD Commissioner by accepting numerous bribes from government contractor David Whitaker in exchange for official actions benefiting Whitaker and his business. The bribes included luxury travel, hotel accommodations, school tuition payments, rent payments, restaurant-related expenses, and other personal benefits.

The evidence further established that Martinez approved and facilitated government payments to Whitaker’s company, Mon Ethos, including inflated invoices funded through the American Rescue Plan Act. The scheme generated more than $1 million in government payments to Mon Ethos and resulted in substantial personal benefits to Martinez. The jury also found that Martinez obstructed the federal investigation by attempting to conceal the bribery scheme, directing efforts to destroy or transfer evidence, and creating a false promissory note that was later produced in response to a federal grand jury subpoena.

“Corruption is inexcusable,” said United States Attorney Adam Sleeper. “Public officials—especially law enforcement—have a duty to protect the people they serve. This sentence provides accountability and serves as a warning for those who would betray the public trust.”

Church leaders have warned these escalating attacks threaten to end the ancient Christian presence.

Holy Land bishops (Patriarchs and Heads of Churches in Jerusalem) condemned the “climate of impunity,” charged Israeli authorities with facilitating repeated Israeli settler terrorist attacks upon Christians and other Palestinians, and demanded international action and accountability from Israeli authorities.

Following advocacy by Jason Jones, U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee visited Taybeh on July 19, 2025, denouncing the attacks as “terror” and demanding prosecution of perpetrators, yet attacks persisted unimpeded by Israeli authorities.
