Trafficking in Women Could Threaten U.S. Aid
If the Israeli government does not take significant steps to halt trafficking in women, it will face U.S. sanctions. "Israel does not yet meet the minimum standards for combating trafficking in persons, and has not yet made significant efforts to combat the problem," the State Department said in a scalding report on human trafficking in 2001 issued last night.

Prior to Operation Barbarossa, both Stepan Bandera and Andriy Melnyk, who led rival branches of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists actively cooperated with Nazi Germany.
Battalion 201 numbered 650 persons, most of whom belonged to Stepan Bandera’s wing of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists.
Many of its members, especially the commanding officers, would later be recruited into the Ukrainian Insurgent Army.

The OUN intended to take advantage of the retreat of Soviet forces from Ukraine during the German invasion of the Soviet Union that began on June 22. Their leaders thought that their movement had found a new powerful ally in Nazi Germany to aid them in their struggle against the Soviet Union. The Ukrainian nationalists began a series of pogroms against Jews, with many murdered and assaulted. Days after the German invasion and occupation of Lviv, however, the leadership of the newly formed government was arrested and sent to concentration camps in Germany.
The term "die Neuordnung Europas" (the New Order of Europe) was used by the Nazi establishment to denote a planned reorganization of the geopolitical landscape. The Nazi government claimed Neuordnung aimed to rearrange territory for the benefit of an economically integrated Europe, deliberately excluding the Soviet Union. Nazi ideology characterized the "Judeo-Bolshevist" Soviet state as a criminal, so called "Asiatic" institution slated for destruction, viewing it as culturally devoid of Germanic-European character and intolerable to the Third Reich.
