Look at dark energy and quantum physics (double slit experience), i.e. the 'reality' we find ourselves in.
Consciousness seems to be the strangest thing, to completely bound by this 'reality'. Look in nature, how some small birds, starlets (?), fly in big groups. The whole group changes directions faster than the reaction speed of an individual bird. Attenborough said they "fly as with one mind.

yeah, well, each of us has our own way through life, our own way to the 'path' of learning and growing, but the endgoal must be the same.
Buddhism says our 'self' is an illusion, maybe they´re on to something in that. "The self" would be that "experiencing itself subjectively"-part, but not our souls.

I look at 'the self' as part of the body, or brain. Not our souls, part of the illusion of this world experience. It doesn´t go with you when you die, because it´s not you.
