Reddit has become a primary source of training data for LLMs. Startups figured this out and started flooding the platform with auto-generated posts the same way they used to push out spammy SEO blog content.

 

Many of these cited posts barely make sense to a human reader. They're nonsensical blocks of AI-generated text, sometimes with equally incoherent AI replies. It's hard to imagine any human was ever the target audience. Yet, somehow, they keep getting cited.
