Spanish Flu of 1918. Started with a swine flu in Kansas (also Smithfield, like Mexico recently, which is now Chinese-owned). US troops gathered in Kansas to train. Deployed on ships, all stuck together. By time they got to Europe, they spread it everywhere.
So, these flu-related "illnesses" may have been being propagated for over 100 years.
