Then-National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Dr. Francis Collins, around the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, acknowledged that he secretly assisted with a paper stating the virus that causes COVID-19 "is not a laboratory construct or a purposefully manipulated virus," according to a newly released missive.
"This is work that Tony, Jeremy, Larry, and I helped with, but are appropriately not mentioned explicitly in the paper," Collins said in the March 6, 2020, email to NIH officials, which was released by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on June 11.
Tony refers to Dr. Anthony Fauci, the longtime head of the NIH's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases through late 2022. Jeremy refers to Jeremy Farrar, at the time the director of the Wellcome Trust. Larry refers to Dr. Lawrence Tabak, an NIH official.
Collins noted the conclusion that stated, "The analysis of public genome sequence data from SARS-CoV-2 and related viruses found no evidence that the virus was made in a laboratory or otherwise engineered." SARS-CoV-2 is the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
The first COVID-19 cases appeared in Wuhan, China, in 2019, near a laboratory that was conducting enhanced experiments on coronaviruses funded by the NIH.
Collins was responding to an email from Kristian Andersen, one of the authors of the paper, which was titled "The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2." Andersen and other scientists said in the paper, published on March 17, 2020, in Nature Medicine, that they analyzed data and concluded that it came from nature.
To date, no natural source has been identified for the virus. The Trump administration maintains the virus came from the Wuhan lab.
The paper did not mention any contributions from Collins, Fauci, Tabak, or Farrar, who made at least one critical change to the document, according to emails released by lawmakers in 2023. It thanked American virologist Michael Farzan "for discussions" and the Wellcome Trust "for support." Nature did not return a request for comment by the time of publication. Collins did not respond to a request for comment.
Collins told lawmakers in 2024 that his role "was for information, not for me to edit," that he never edited or suggested edits to the paper, and that, to his knowledge, neither did Fauci or Farrar. He also said he is not a virology expert.

69 Arrested In 'Operation Hands Down' Targeting Central California Gangs
Authorities announced dozens of arrests, drug and firearm seizures, and thousands of dollars in cash confiscated in a large-scale operation targeting gangs in California's Central Valley.
The multi-agency effort, dubbed Operation Hands Down, served 43 search warrants at various locations throughout the San Joaquin Valley, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) stated in a June 10 press release.
More than 500 law enforcement members joined the operation, leading to 69 arrests and the confiscation of 73 guns, 55 pounds of methamphetamine, 3 pounds of cocaine, a small amount of powdered fentanyl, and nearly $165,000.
"This marked the culmination of a two-month undercover operation focusing on Mexican Mafia and Sureño gang members committing various crimes," the CDCR stated.
The arrests are expected to lower the amount of gang violence seen across the Central Valley, the department added.
Among those arrested was Stefan Coronado from Stockton, California, who was identified as a secretary for the Mexican Mafia, Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni said during a press conference.
Coronado allegedly oversaw criminal street gang activity within the Fresno County Jail from around 2023 to early 2026, including collecting taxes from inmates, facilitating communications between gang members, and acting as a Mexican mafia representative to influence the Sureño gang.
Police also arrested Eduardo Roberto Garcia, a suspect believed to be a high-ranking and influential Sureño gang member associated with the Mexican Mafia, who is now facing murder charges, Zanoni said.
Zanoni said Garcia is also being charged with assault in a previous case in which he allegedly attacked a female bartender in the city of Sanger and rendered her unconscious. The incident was captured on surveillance camera, according to Zanoni.
"It highlights the violent nature of Garcia and his gang activities," said Zanoni. "The investigation significantly disrupted organized Sureño criminal street gang activity throughout Central California while exposing the continued influence of the Mexican Mafia over both street-level criminal operations and violence occurring within our custodial facilities."
Additionally, eight Sureño gang members currently being held in the Fresno County Jail have been charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and gang enhancements for their alleged involvement in two separate stabbing attacks inside the facility, he said.

The expert warned that the leadership in West Jerusalem had placed the Jewish state on an increasingly perilous course.
Israel is widely believed to possess an undeclared nuclear arsenal, although authorities in West Jerusalem have consistently refused to either confirm or deny the allegations. The issue of Iran’s nuclear program has served as the justification for launching strikes against Iran earlier this year.
“Do not think Iran is the big nuclear threat, is the big nuclear instability in the Middle East, Israel is,” the prominent MIT physicist said during an interview with Going Underground host Afshin Rattansi, which aired on Friday.
Postol noted that Israel’s leadership pushed the country into a situation where even its own military commanders are warning that their forces are “on the ropes” and have reached the limits of what they can do.

Postol said he found Trump’s apparent fear of nuclear weapons somewhat reassuring, describing it as a positive trait. Fake “MAGA” Candidate for Governor in Georgia Linked to Adult Sex Sites Where Users Troll for Extramarital Affairs
An email address allegedly owned by Rick Jackson, a billionaire Stacey Abrams donor who has come to represent the definition of “FAKE MAGA,” turned up after a data breach at Fling.com.
An email account linked to Rick Jackson’s own web domain indicates the candidate was trolling for “fetish” and “group sex”, allegedly.
That email address, rick@richardjackson.com, resides at the web domain at the healthcare company owned by Jackson, Jackson Healthcare, which was given around one billion dollars in state contracts.
The media has reported extensively on the Fling dot com breach. Jackson is certainly not the first person to be implicated with the breach, and he is unlikely to be the last.
The account associated with Jackson’s email address evidently checked the boxes to indicate interest in ‘Man’, ‘Woman’, and ‘Fetish,Groupsex’, allegedly.

The domain for Jackson Healthcare residing at RichardJackson.com was registered by way of DirectNic, formally known as DNC Holdings, Inc., in 1998, and has been regularly renewed for nearly thirty years.
DNC Holdings is an internet services company and domain registrar that competes in the space with companies like GoDaddy and NameCheap.
Prior to publication of this article, Brian Robinson told this reporter if i published an article about Rick Jackson, it would "probably be the last one that y'all have."
National File recorded the audio of that exchange with the permission of Mr. Robinson, so his brazenness in communicating a threat over a phone line was honestly shocking.
It is a crime in the state of Georgia to communicate a threat of physical harm over the telephone.
GA Code § 16-11-39.1 (a)(2) reads as follows: "A person commits the offense of harassing communications if such person: Threatens bodily harm via telecommunication, e-mail, text messaging, or any other form of electronic communication.;

‘This Is Oligarchy’: Nearly 100 Billionaires Are Funding Susan Collins’ Reelection Bid
A new analysis of campaign finance data shows that nearly 100 billionaires and their spouses have contributed to Republican Sen. Susan Collins’ reelection bid so far, funneling nearly $10 million to the incumbent’s campaign committee and PACs supporting her effort to fend off progressive challenger Graham Platner.
The Maine Monitor on Thursday published a list of billionaires who have donated to Collins and Platner, who has called his Republican opponent a “corrupt” protector and beneficiary of an oligarchic political system. The outlet notedthat Collins’ billionaire donation total “stands in stark contrast with the fundraising of her opponent… whose campaign has mostly attracted smaller amounts of funds but from many more people.”
The $9.8 million that Collins’ fundraising network received from billionaires and their spouses between January 2025 and late May 2026 represents “a third of what groups supporting Collins raised from all donors,” according to The Maine Monitor’s analysis.
Platner’s reelection bid has received donations from billionaires George Soros, Pat Stryker, Jon Stryker, Christy Walton, and Jennifer Pritzker. Those contributions represent “a fraction of 1% of his total haul,” The Maine Monitor noted. The Democratic candidate’s campaign said Thursday that “grassroots donors chipping in $200 or less have given Graham Platner $9.6 million.”
“While Susan Collins’ campaign is backed by billionaire donors, our campaign is built on a movement funded by the people, with an average donation of $26,” Ben Chin, Platner’s campaign manager, said in a statement. “The establishment can bring it on—they cannot defeat the will of working Mainers, 15,000+ volunteers, and a campaign powered by small-dollar donors from nearly every zip code in Maine.”
Collins’ largest billionaire donor to date came from Ken Griffin, a hedge fund manager who pumped $2.5 million into Pine Tree Results, a Super PAC supporting the five-term Republican incumbent. Collins’ network has also received at least $1 million from Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, New Balance chair James Davis, and hedge fund manager Paul Singer.

IDF says over 70 Hezbollah sites hit as troops advance near south Lebanon’s Nabatieh
Lebanese army withdraws from southern city, says soldier seriously injured in Israeli drone strike; seven terror operatives killed earlier this week after emerging from tunnel
The Israel Defense Forces on Saturday said it struck over 70 Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon, targeting rocket launchers and buildings allegedly used by the terror group to advance attacks, after the army issued evacuation warnings for over 20 locations.
The military added that it killed several Hezbollah operatives identified in areas of southern Lebanon where troops were operating.
Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported airstrikes in several areas covered by the evacuation warnings, including the villages of Rihan and Sujud, located not far from the city of Nabatieh, which is considered to be a Hezbollah stronghold.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese army said one of its soldiers was seriously wounded in an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon.
According to the Lebanese Armed Forces, the soldier was first targeted near a hospital in Nabatieh, without being injured.
He was then targeted again on a road between Kfar Roummane and Nabatieh, “resulting in him sustaining serious injuries,” the LAF said.

The Lebanese army withdrew from its positions in the southern town of Kfar Tebnit, close to Nabatieh, as the IDF advanced in the area, according to Lebanese media.
Footage published by Lebanese media shows armored vehicles of the LAF driving away from Kfar Tebnit on the outskirts of Nabatieh.
In a separate statement, the IDF said that seven Hezbollah operatives who were operating out of a tunnel in southern Lebanon were killed in strikes this week.
According to the military, reservists of the 551st Paratroopers Brigade spotted two cells of Hezbollah gunmen emerging from the tunnel, which was used by Hezbollah to store weapons and to carry out attacks.
The operatives were killed in airstrikes, artillery shelling, and by explosive drones, the army said, adding that troops found weapons and equipment near the tunnel afterward.

Federal agents have identified more than fifteen thousand individuals who have sponsored three or more unaccompanied migrant children, raising grave concerns about widespread abuse and trafficking under the Biden administration.
The revelations come as Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin sounded the alarm on what they describe as one of the most disturbing humanitarian crimes tied directly to the nation’s failed border policies.
Blanche announced indictments against three Guatemalan nationals, Maritza Azucena Cahuec Coc, Carlos Agustin Cahuec Coc, and Gladys Marina Caal Chen. All three allegedly conspired to smuggle multiple children into the United States by exploiting federal loopholes.

The Department of Justice revealed that Gladys Caal Chen herself previously entered the United States through a fraudulent sponsorship as an unaccompanied minor.
Blanche noted that her case exemplifies a much wider problem, one that federal agents have been uncovering piece by piece across the country.
He added, “This is one example, one indictment, but it is not unique. There are over 15,500 super sponsor cases that we have identified along with DHS.”
