Newsom Announces He's Being Investigated By Trump Justice Department
California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Monday that the Department of Justice has opened an investigation into him and his wife, claiming the probe is political retaliation as he weighs a bid for president in 2028.
"In recent days, federal agents have knocked on the doors of family, friends, and former employees, not because they found a crime, because they're simply trying to find one," Newsom said in a video posted to X.
"They're demanding records, they're abusing the grand jury process, digging through years and years of random documents. Donald Trump isn't just coming after me because of my mean tweets, he's coming after me because I'm considering running for president, because he hates that I've consistently called him out over and over again for his lies and deceit."
"Donald Trump is simply the most corrupt president in American history," the governor added.
The White House declined to comment when reached by the New York Post.
"He's coming after my wife, Jen, a public servant, a woman who's dedicated her life to supporting women and girls, someone who has done nothing wrong other than having the temerity to advocate for what she believes in," Newsom said. "If they can't intimidate me, they'll go after the mother of our children. Donald Trump picked the wrong target. We have nothing to hide."
Newsom said Trump's "political operatives can take every record and read every page," but said they "will be looking in the wrong place."
"Because if they really want to find corruption, look no further than 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.," he said, before accusing Trump of using the White House to enrich himself.
"Donald Trump is selling the presidency. He's running the largest cash heist in American political history, trading foreign tariff relief for approval of his golf courses, day trading behind the Resolute Desk, reaping hundreds of millions of dollars in personal profit," the governor said. "And he's doing it openly, he's doing it on camera. He did it last night on the White House lawn. He's doing it through crypto currencies, he's doing it through the receipt of a $400 million private jet from a foreign government that he plans to keep when he leaves office through his son's ventures in countries where his own administration is simultaneously making policy."

White People Blocked From Jobseeker Schemes
White jobseekers are being shut out of taxpayer-funded employment schemes, with many employment support programmes offered by local authorities to benefits claimants open only to ethnic minorities. The Telegraph has the story.
Critics have described the schemes, which are funded by the taxpayer through multi-billion-pound grants to local government, as an example of “two-tier” Britain.
The public sector has come under pressure to rethink diversity policies following the murder of Henry Nowak. Police handcuffed Nowak following the attack while his Sikh killer was treated as a victim, having falsely claimed he had been racially abused.
In Sheffield, the Labour and Green-led city council offers “targeted employment support for ethnic minority groups” as part of its pathways-to-work programme.
The £340,000 project is operated by local charities and aims to help find jobs for “economically inactive” minorities. But it is part-funded by the “Economic Inactivity Trailblazer” run by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and the £2.6 billion UK Shared Prosperity Fund provided by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).
The funds are given to local and combined authorities to spend on ‘levelling up’ projects.
Grants were also directed to Andy Burnham’s Greater Manchester combined authority, where they were spent on projects such as providing “culturally appropriate employability support” – including CV workshops and mentoring – for “BAME” (black and minority ethnic) people in Oldham.
Other employment schemes in Manchester backed by the funds are open to people of any ethnicity.
In Scotland, only local black and minority ethnic entrepreneurs were invited to apply for some business growth support programmes by Labour-run North Lanarkshire council.
William Yarwood, Campaigns Director of the TaxPayers’ Alliance, said taxpayers’ money should not be spent on the “two-tier” initiatives.
“Taxpayers should not be funding schemes that exclude people because of their race,” he said. “Race-based eligibility smacks of identity politics and a two-tier system, which undermines public confidence in the system.
“Ministers should end these discriminatory programmes and ensure taxpayer-funded support is open to all jobseekers who need it.”
Alka Sehgal Cuthbert, Director of Don’t Divide Us, described the schemes as “segregationist”, adding: “Have they looked at age, locality, educational background, language proficiency and other relevant variables before proceeding with yet another divisive, race-based, segregationist plan for social in-cohesion?
“If and when there is civil disobedience, it will be in no small part due to the patronising stupidity of leaders who think this is a good plan.”

Antidepressant recalled over possible contamination with cancer-causing chemical
Hundreds of thousands of bottles of a hugely popular antidepressant have been recalled over fears that they could contain a cancer-causing chemical.
More than 370,000 bottles of duloxetine delayed-release capsules, sold by New Jersey-based Breckenridge Pharmaceuticals and commonly known as Cymbalta, were subject to the warning.
The FDA raised the alarm after tests found the capsules contained higher than permitted levels of N-nitroso-duloxetine, which is considered to be a probable carcinogen to humans.
No illnesses have been reported to date, but the agency warned this was a Class II recall, meaning exposure to the product could cause temporary or medically reversible events.
The recall includes 360,000 bottles of 60 milligram (mg) capsules, sold in bottles containing 90 or 1,000 capsules.
It also includes 14,000 bottles of 30mg capsules, sold in bottles containing 1,000 capsules.
The prescription-only drugs were sold nationwide and have best-before dates up to May next year.
No advice has been issued by officials on what to do if you have the recalled drugs at home, but, typically, people are advised to contact their doctors to seek alternatives.
