Spain won't panic despite Cape Verde draw, de la Fuente says

ATLANTA – Coach Luis de la Fuente insisted that tournament favoritesSpain won't panic after being held to a 0-0 draw by underdogs Cape Verde in their opening World Cup game Monday.

Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, 40, starred as Spain were denied adebut victory in Group H, with Lamine Yamal playing only the last 20 minutes.

The result increases the pressure on Spain ahead oftheir remaining group games against Saudi Arabia and Uruguay.

"This [Spain]team is reliable, whatever happens," de la Fuente said in his postmatch news conference. "We're a team with anextraordinary reliability. We haven't lost in 32 matches. We'll be better in the next game, for sure.

"When you lack freshness and getting the final ball right, this can happen. It's something to improve, nothing else. We'll stay on our path, which has taken us this far."

De la Fuente praised Cape Verde's defensive display while claiming the opponents who had six shots to Spain's 27 were "clearly inferior."

"In this World Cup there's extreme equality and difficulty," he said. "This team was clearly inferior to us, but they did the things they had to do well.

"We have to keep growing. With the talent these players have, that's the way. We're calm. This is a long tournament, and in our heads we've still got seven games left."

"We knew we had to be patient," captain Rodrisaid. "They sat back; we created chances, we couldn't score. It's tough against such a physical team. The positive is they hardly created anything, but we have to improve in front of goal."

De la Fuente defended the decision to wait until the second-half hydration break to introduce Yamal, with Nico Williams coming on even later.

"Obviously, they're two players who can make the difference, but the players on the pitch are very good, too," the coach said. "In the next game, the alternatives will increase and the team will grow.

"Today, that was the amount of time we understood [Yamal] could play."

Voting By Phone Is Already Here. Meet The Democratic-Linked Group Trying To Take It National.. 1/2

The Vote-By-Phone Machine Comes For Minnesota

(None of the criminals were arrested for 2020, now the super mafia of elections want it permanent.)

Natalie Winters

Minnesota is now the latest test site for one of the most radical election experiments in America: voting by phone.

A bill introduced in the Minnesota House this spring, HF4962, would write “mobile voting technology” into state election law, defining it as an application on a mobile device used to “complete and submit a ballot” in a secure and encrypted manner. It would also allow voters in jurisdictions that authorize the technology to receive ballots, instructions, and certificates of voter eligibility electronically, then return the ballot electronically through the same system.

Translated out of legislative jargon, Minnesota lawmakers are being asked to open the door to app-based ballot return.

This is not an isolated local reform. It is part of a national campaign.

TheMobile Voting Project, the group-pushing this agenda, openly lists active campaignsin Colorado, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, and New York City. Its own materials say 330 jurisdictions have piloted mobile voting since 2018, while 13 additional states permit voters with disabilities to return ballots over the internet.

Bradley Tusk, the founder of the Mobile Voting Project, is a venture capitalist and political operative. He has deep ties to Democratic politics, including managing Michael Bloomberg’s 2009 mayoral re-election campaign in New York City andserving as communications director for Senator Chuck Schumer.

The organization’s CEO, Sheila Nix, also comes from the highest levels of Democratic politics. Nix was Kamala Harris’s 2024 campaign chief of staff, Jill Biden’s former chief of staff during the Obama administration, and a former deputy assistant to President Obama.

In New Jersey, the political networkis even more direct. A bill sponsored by State Senator Brian Stack, S4163, and its Assembly counterpart, A4960, would create a municipal mobile voting pilot program. Tusk is the brother-in-law of Rep.Josh Gottheimer, one of the state’s highest-profile Democratic members of Congress. Gottheimer is married to Marla Tusk, who serves as general counsel at Tusk Strategies, the consulting firm founded by Bradley Tusk.

The case being sold in New Jersey is the same case being sold in Minnesota and elsewhere.Low turnout. Local elections. Accessibility. Modernization. Trust the app.

The security case is much weaker.

In February, more than 20 computer scientists published a rebuke of the Mobile Voting Project and VoteSecure, arguing that claims about the technology’s security are “untrue and dangerous.” The review stated that “VoteSecure isn’t a complete, usable product,it’s just a ‘cryptographic core’ that someone might someday incorporate into a usable product.”

Andrew Appel, professor emeritus of computer science at Princeton and the lead author of the review, said the scientific consensus has been clear for decades.

“For the last20 years, it is a well established scientific consensus that internet voting is too insecure for public elections, unless some miraculous new technology is invented.People have been working for 30+ years on such technologies, and no such breakthrough has arrived, or is likelyto arrive any time soon. Mr. Tusk should not use VoteSecure as a pretext to promote unsafe internet voting.”

2/2

That warning is not coming from election-integrity activists. It is coming from computer scientists.

Yet the project continues to move through state legislatures, municipal governments, and elite democracy-reform circles.

One of the clearest examples came recently from Stephen Richer, the former Maricopa County recorder, who published an April 2026 essay for The Democracy Project making the case for cellphone voting as a solution to a wide range of election-administration problems.

Richer argued that the “most obvious beneficiaries of cellphone voting are the voters themselves,” because it would mean “no more standing in line,” “no more worrying about the weather,” “no more worrying about hurricanes,” “no more worrying about showing up at the wrong polling location,” and “no more forgetting your identification in your wallet that you left in your other car.”

The last example is the tell.

One of the alleged benefits of cellphone voting, according to one of itsown defenders, is that it eliminates the problem of voters forgetting identification. A basic safeguard of in-person voting is being recast as a design flaw.

Richer also argued that cellphone voting could accommodate limitless ballot languagesbecause “Americans speak over 350 languages” and most jurisdictions print ballots in only one or two languages.

He invokedenvironmental concernsas well, writing that he felt guilty that Maricopa County “killed a rainforest every time we ran an election,” andciting Runbeck Election Services’ estimate that it uses approximately 6,000 miles of paper for presidential elections.

This is not a narrow case for disabled voters. It is a case for replacing the basic architecture of American elections: paper ballots, polling places, physical custody, local procedures, and public observation.

Richer made the political stakes explicit when he argued thatcellphone voting would “fix the parade of horribles that many fear from the Trump administration this fall.”

ICE at polling places doesn’t matter if people vote on their phones,” he wrote. “If there are no mail ballots to disrupt, then it hardly matters that Trump might test the independence of the United States Post Office. It no longer matters if Tulsi Gabbard seizes ballot tabulators in Puerto Rico, the FBI takes election materials in Georgia, or Sheriff Chad Bianco seizes ballots in Riverside, California.”

That is the real argument. Cellphone voting does not simply make voting easier. It routes around polling places, mail ballots, ballot tabulators, election materials, and local conflicts over physical election infrastructure.

For election-integrity advocates, that is precisely the problem. The features being treated as outdated friction are the same features that make elections tangible, local, auditable, and observable.

The public has seen this sequence before. Mass mail-in voting was sold in 2020 as an emergency pandemic measure. In many states, it became permanent infrastructure.

Now the same political class is asking Americans to accept a far more radical premise: ballots cast through phones, transmitted through internet-connected systems, and secured by technical assurances the average voter cannot meaningfully inspect.

The question is why a Democratic-linked political operation is pushing to move American elections deeper into the custody of software vendors, election-technology nonprofits, political consultants, cryptographic experts, and elite institutions that have spent years dismissing election-integrity concerns as illegitimate.

Dana White addresses UFC fighter's derogatory remark about Michelle Obama

Dana White, the UFC's CEO, distanced himself from a fighter's disparaging remark about Michelle Obama.

Josh Hokit, during a post-fight interview at the UFC's event at the White House, said, "…Michelle Obama is a man! Am I right, America?''

In a text to TIME magazine,White said, "I understand that the Obama's are public figures but I'm completely against saying nasty and false things about people's families. Everyone knows my position on free speech but I hate that kind of nonsense."

In January, during commentsin the Octagon, Hokit similarly targeted Brittney Griner, saying of the basketball star "is a man.''

White later said he'd heard about the comment but hadn't seen it."I don't love it,''he said.

UFC's history of derogatory language

White has never publicly disciplined fighters for the use of slurs or derogatory language while prioritizing "free speech.''

That includes remarks from Bryce Mitchell, a fighter who during a podcast in January 2025 said Hitler was "a good guy."

Mitchell also said Hitler "fought for his country,'' denied the Holocaust occurred and lashed out at Jewish and LGBTQ+ communities.

"I've heard a lot of dumb and ignorant (expletive) in my day, but this one is probably the worst," White said, on behalf of the UFC, according to CNN. "When you talk about Hitler, he was responsible for the death of six million Jews and he tried to completely eliminate a race of people."

White also said, "Hitler is one of the most disgusting and evil human beings to ever walk the face of the Earth, and anyone that even tries to take an opposing position is a moron."

Mitchell later apologized for his remarks.

Sean Strickland, the UFC's middleweight champion, has used racial and homophobic slurs in public and has not been disciplined.

"I don't agree with 95% of what this guy says, but it's his right to say it,''White said in a videotaped interview.

Australian World Cup referee Shaun Evans responds to accusations he used a hate symbol at World Cup

In short:

Australian referee Shaun Evans made an "OK" symbol below his waist during a live World Cup cross.

The symbol is used as both a harmless children's game and as a white power symbol in some far-right circles.(it’s also everything is OK symbol)

FIFA's discrimination monitor Fare called for Evans to be removed from the World Cupbut the disciplinary committee "found no evidence of breaches of the FIFA disciplinary code".

The Australian referee at the centre of the World Cup hand gesture controversy has responded after calls to have him sacked from the tournament.

Shaun Evans, who was filmed in the review box before Germany's opening game against Curaçao on Monday morning, was accused of making a "white power" symbol after appearing to make a circle with his fingers.

In 2019, the gesture, with the thumb and forefinger touching in a circle and the other fingers outstretched, was designated a hate symbol by the New York-based Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

"I would like to clarify that I did not intentionally make a hand gesture or symbol to communicate a message, affiliation, game or belief of any kind," Evans said in a statement.

"The only explanation I can offer is that the movement was an involuntary, subconscious twitch, and I was unaware I had done it at the time. Images taken later during the match showed that I repeated this movement many times while holding a pen between my fingers.

"The coverage following this incident simply does not reflect who I am. Of course, I understand how the gesture has been interpreted, and I regret this. However, I want to be very clear and categorically say that I did not knowingly or deliberately make the hand symbol suggested.

"Officiating at the World Cup is the biggest honour of my career and I look forward to supporting my colleagues for the rest of the tournament."

FIFA's discrimination monitor at the World Cup called for Evans to be removed from the tournament.

"Advice from our experts is that the gesture used clearly resembles an upside down 'OK' hand symbol used as a 'white power' symbol in global far-right circles," said the Fare network, a long-time partner of FIFA and European soccer body UEFA to monitor racist and discriminatory chants, flags and symbols at international games.

Russia Tells Banks to “Shoot Down Drones Yourself”

Posted May 28, 2026

The line between civilian society and war is disappearing completely. That is the real story behind Russia now authorizing its central bank and Sberbank to operate anti-drone systems and arm personnel to defend financial infrastructure. A country’s banking system is no longer simply processing transactions or moving money. It is now becoming part of the battlefield itself.

Russia passed a new law allowing the central bank, Sberbank, and the Russian Cash Collection Association to deploy their own drone defense systems after repeated Ukrainian strikes deep inside Russian territory. Staff at these institutions can now reportedly be armed as well.

This is what happens when modern war evolves into economic warfare. I have warned repeatedly that World War III would not resemble World War II where armies simply lined up across borders. The entire economy becomes militarized. Banks, energy grids, payment systems, telecommunications, ports, railways, factories, and data centers all become targets because modern civilization itself depends on interconnected infrastructure.

Ukraine understands this perfectly. Their drone strategy has increasingly focused on striking oil facilities, energy infrastructure, logistics centers, and economic targets deep inside Russia because they know they cannot defeat Russia conventionally in a prolonged war of attrition.

What is extraordinary here is not merely the drone attacks themselves. It is the admission that the Russian state can no longer centrally defend everything. Moscow is effectively decentralizing air defense responsibilities and telling major corporations and financial institutions: defend yourselves. That is a major shift psychologically.

The Guardian even framed it bluntly: Russia is telling its banks to “shoot down drones yourself.”

This is precisely how long wars transform societies historically. Civilian infrastructure slowly merges with military infrastructure until there is barely any distinction left. During the later stages of major conflicts, factories become military targets, railroads become military targets, ports become military targets, and eventually financial institutions themselves become military targets because war is ultimately about resources and economic survival.

Sberbank is not some small regional bank. It is effectively intertwined with the Russian state itself. Sberbank controls roughly a third of Russian banking assets and acts as a pillar of the entire domestic financial system. The Russian central bank likewise sits at the core of wartime financing, sanctions management, currency stabilization, and capital controls.

Russia has pushed aggressively toward cashless payments, digital financial infrastructure, and central bank digital currency experimentation through the digital ruble system. But centralized digital systems become vulnerable during wartime because they create concentrated targets.

The more governments centralize financial systems digitally, the more vulnerable those systems become to cyberwarfare, EMP threats, sabotage, drone attacks, and infrastructure strikes. This is one reason governments are quietly preparing for a wartime financial environment globally.

What people fail to understand is that once banks become strategic military infrastructure, governments will justify virtually unlimited control over the financial system in the name of “security.” That is how capital controls are born historically. War always becomes the excuse for expanded government power.

The United States did exactly this during previous wars. Europe did exactly this. Gold confiscation, capital restrictions, currency controls, surveillance, transaction monitoring, frozen accounts, and restrictions on moving money abroad all emerge in wartime environments because governments become desperate to maintain internal stability.

Russia is already heavily centralized economically due to sanctions. But this trend is spreading globally. Europe is discussing CBDCs openly. Governments worldwide are building real-time payment surveillance systems. Financial privacy is disappearing everywhere because governments increasingly view the banking system as part of national security infrastructure.

Now we are reaching the next stage where banks themselves require physical anti-drone defenses. Imagine if JPMorgan or the Federal Reserve announced rooftop anti-drone missile systems surrounding Manhattan offices. That sounds absurd today, yet this is exactly where prolonged geopolitical escalation leads eventually.

Scoop: CIA director doubts Iran's intentions on deal, sources say.

(Ask yourself how Axios got this info)1/2

CIA Director John Ratcliffe told President Trump and other senior officials that evidence gathered by U.S. intelligence agencies raises serious doubts about Iran's willingness to make the nuclear concessions the U.S. is seeking in any final deal, according to three sources familiar with those discussions.

Friction point: Ratcliffe isn't the only skeptic in Trump's top team. In internal discussions, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth both expressed concerns and raised questions about the memorandum of understanding (MOU) announced Sunday, while Vice President Vance and U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner advocated for it, according to two of the sources.

Behind the scenes:There were a series of high-level meetings about the deal between Trump and his advisers in the lead-up to Sunday's announcement.

During those meetings, Trump and his team discussed intel gathered by several U.S. intelligence agencies that showed that the way Iranian officials were discussing the deal among themselves was inconsistent with what they were telling the mediators and the U.S., two sources said.

Ratcliffe and Rubio said that based on that intel, they doubted the Iranianswould agree to take the nuclear steps the U.S. was seeking, according to two sources.

"The intelligence reflects that the Iranian intentions are not in line with their commitments under the deal," a source said.

What they're saying: "President Trump listens to all opinions on any given issue — but everyone understands he is the final decision-maker," a White House official said in response to questions for this story.

"This MOU meets all of the redlines that the administration has long articulated by ensuring that Iran can never possess a nuclear weapon, they cannot keep their highly enriched uranium, and they cannot hold the world's energy supply hostage," the official said, adding that Trump would only agree to a "good" final agreement.

The CIA and the State Department declined to comment. The Pentagon did not respond.

Zoom out:The nuclear elements of the MOU signed Sunday depend on the parties reaching a more detailed nuclear deal over the next 60 days.

Vance, Witkoff and Kushner are expected to meet Friday with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, along with Pakistani and Qatari mediators, to discuss that next phase.

Between the lines: The full text of the 14-point initial deal has yet to be published, but a source familiar with the text contended that the Iranians will get more than they give under the MOU — unless they agree to sign a nuclear deal that meets the U.S. objectives.

The big picture: The deal is designed to extend the ceasefire and launch 60 days of negotiations, which can be extended by mutual consent.

In the context of those talks, Iran reiterates its past commitment to never acquire or procure a nuclear weapon.

The source said the MOU says the U.S. and Iran commit to "resolve the disposition of stockpiled enriched material" and "discuss the issue of future enrichment and other mutually agreed matters related to Iran's nuclear needs based on a satisfactory framework being agreed upon in the final deal."

The text says Iran will maintain the status quo of its nuclear program so long as negotiations continue. For its part, the U.S. won't impose new sanctions or deploy additional forces to the region.

If a final nuclear deal is reached, within 30 days the U.S. will remove the forces it mobilized for the war and will terminate all sanctions against Iran under an agreed-upon schedule, according to the source's description of the text.

Breaking it down: Internal skeptics of the deal contend that Iran is unlikely to sign a nuclear deal on the U.S. terms, and in the meantime it will benefit more than the U.S. from the MOU.

However, two senior U.S. officials contended in a briefing with reporters Monday that the benefits for Iran all depend on it taking meaningful steps.

One senior U.S. official said the U.S. will know in two to three weeks if Iran is serious about nuclear concessions. If not, the process could stop without Iran gaining much.

"I am somewhat concerned that Iran's view of the agreement seems different than what the American negotiating team is claiming," Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told Axios, while calling for the document's immediate release.

Zoom in:While the nuclear aspects are conditional, the MOU calls for the Strait of Hormuz to be reopened in the near term.

The MOU stipulates that "Iran will make arrangements, using its best efforts, for the safe passage of commercial vessels with no charge for 60 days," while the U.S. will gradually lift its blockade such that it's entirely removed within 30 days, according to the source familiar with the text.

The MOU says Iran will conduct a dialogue with Oman "to define future administration and maritime services" in the strait, with other Gulf countries participating in that dialogue to reach a solution "in line with applicable international law and sovereign rights" of regional countries, the source said.

Iranian state media has reported on the possibility of charging transit fees after that 60-day period ends.

One of the most contentious issues in the negotiations was the release of Iran's frozen funds and assets.

The MOU leaves much room for interpretation by stating that the U.S. "undertakes to make [the funds] fully available for use … upon the implementation of this MOU," according to the source familiar.

U.S. officials say it will be a "pay for performance" model. A senior U.S. official told reporters that if the U.S. sees positive "gestures" from Iran, it may release some funds in exchange.

The MOU also says any final deal will include a "definitive and mutually agreed plan" for the establishment of a $300 billion fund for the "reconstruction and economic development" of Iran, as well as a mechanism for its implementation, the source said.

Advocates of the deal argue it's a long-term propositionthat will become reality only if Iran dismantles its nuclear program and undergoes significant internal reforms.

(Maybe the only reason why Trump and Team disagreement on Top Secret Info, is coming out, is because it may not be what it seems)

June 16, 2026 | Sundance

President Trump holds a bilateral discussion with the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.During the media questions President Trump noted he would like to read the negotiated memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the U.S, Gulf State Allies and Iran.

President Trump was thenasked about DC politicians who are requesting that congress be involved in approving the Iran deal. The reason congress,Mark Levin and Laura Loomer are demanding legislative input is because the American Israeli Political Action Committee (AIPAC) has paid congressional representatives for influence.

Israel is hoping to block or change the agreementby leveraging their purchased allies in congress. President Trump notes he did not think about taking the deal to congress, but he likes the idea. WATCH:
