The annual gathering organized by the investment firm Allen & Co brings together the world's most wealthy and powerful figures from the media, finance, technology and political spheres at the Sun Valley Resort for the exclusive weeklong conference.
The annual gathering of the rich and the powerful is set for early July at the Sun Valley Resort, and the annual tradition of the guest list leaking to Hollywood publication Variety continues.
Right after America celebrates its 250th birthday, the group of powerful billionaires will celebrate swan sightings in front of the Sun Valley Lodge. Each year for decades, Wall Street investment firm Allen & Co. hosts several days of closed-door panels, schmoozing, and dinners for a collection of business, political, and media leaders.
Last year, Gov. Brad Little was not on the list leaked to Variety, but Little did attend the event, BoiseDev confirmed with sources familiar with his schedule. Little alluded to his attendance during another event at the resort this spring. Little again does not appear on Variety’s list — but the list includes names who may not attend, and leaves out names of those who ultimately do show up.
Last year, media reports indicated a large number of other people who didn’t appear on Variety’s leaked list attended, including Spanx founder Sara Blakely, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, and Ivanka Trump.
This year, several leaders of artificial intelligence firms, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, OpenAI President Greg Brockman, and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, have been invited.
The event, which has been hailed as a boon to Idaho tourism on the national stage, also has attracted increased public pushback in recent years. Last year, protestors gathered along Idaho Highway 75, which links the Hailey Airport with Sun Valley.
