Excerpt from a very informative post elsewhere, which lit the lightbulb: Mizrahi Jews are the Jews originally from the Middle East and North Africa that migrated to Israel in 1948 due to oppression from Arab/muslim nations. These along with Sephardic Jews are much closer in customs, appearance, and religious practices to Hebrews of the Levant.
