Russian Oil Refinery Over 1,200 Miles From Ukraine Attacked In Another War First
After this week's devasting Ukrainian drone attacks on a Moscow refinery which sent massive plumes of black smoke across the capital city skyline, it has become obvious that the Zelensky's government believes its last major card to play is escalation of its UAV attacks deep inside Russian territory.
This is once again on display as on Saturday Ukraine launched a drone attack targeting an oil refinery in Russia's Tyumen region for the first time since the the war. Significantly, Tyumen region is located some 2,000 kilometers (or 1,240 miles) from the front line in Ukraine.
Regional Governor Alexander Moor confirmed this first such attack on this region since the war's start. Moor claimed that Russian air defenses successfully defended against the attack on the the Tyumen oil refinery, one of Russia's largest. "An attack by unmanned aerial vehicles on the Tyumen refinery has been repelled. Emergency services specialists are working at the site where debris fell," he stated. "According to preliminary information, the plant was not damaged and employees have been evacuated," Moor announced on Telegram.
However, unverified but widely circulating footage and photographs suggest otherwise…
Reuters, reporting on the attack, writes that "The Tyumen refinery, one of the country's most modern and complex, has a nominal capacity of around 8 million metric tons per year."
"It processes roughly 6 million tons of crude annually, producing about 0.5 million tons of gasoline and 2.5 million tons of diesel, according to industry estimates," the report also notes.
Ukrainian media, and some Russian Telegram channels are asserting that the refinery did suffer a hit:
"Thick smoke is visible above the Tyumen Oil Refinery - the former Antipinsky Oil Refinery - in Tyumen," reports the ASTRA Telegram channel, citing its analysis data, adding: "Earlier, the governor reported repelling a UAV attack on this plant and the absence of damage to the enterprise."
The fact that "thick smoke is visible above the Tyumen Oil Refinery in Tyumen," as stated, was established by an ASTRA OSINT analyst from a witness video.
"At the same time, local residents reported hearing at least two explosions in the Antipino microdistrict, where the Tyumen Oil Refinery is located, and also saw at least 10 fire trucks heading towards the plant," ASTRA points out.
This past Thursday saw what many are calling most brazen offensive of the war to date, after 200 Ukrainian suicide drones swarmed Gazprom's Moscow Refinery, inflicting heavy damage.

Puberty Blockers to Be Given to Girls as Young as 11 in UK Medical Trial
A British medical trial on puberty blocking drugs will involve girls as young as 11 years old, despite the government banning such drugs for children in 2024.
The UK government’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said on Friday that the previously paused Pathways transgender medical trial is set to go ahead in August after being paused in February.
The controversial trial will see young girls as young as 11 and boys as young as 12 being given puberty blockers to study their impact, London’s Daily Telegraph reported.
In 2024, left-wing Labour Party Health Secretary Wes Streeting suspended the use of puberty blocking drugs for all children under the age of 18, saying that it had been a “scandal” how they were administered to minors.
This came after a review from top paediatrician Dr Hilary Cass, which found that the evidence used to justify such treatments for children was “built on shaky foundations” and therefore the National Health Service (NHS) should no longer prescribe them.
However, the Cass review crucially left room open for continuing to administer such potentially life-altering drugs to children, provided that it is done within the context of a medical trial.

Israel carried out a wave of strikes in southern and eastern Lebanon overnight and into Saturday afternoon, saying that the Israel Defense Forces was targeting Hezbollah after the Iran-backed terror group attacked troops in violation of a day-old ceasefire. Lebanese media and first responders reported at least 27 people killed and 26 wounded in the strikes.
The IDF said it was “committed to the ceasefire agreement in accordance with the directives of the political echelon.” A military official said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz had instructed the IDF to “hold its fire” in Lebanon.
The instruction was issued following “coordination between the political echelon and the United States,” according to Channel 12 news.
A “senior official” later said Netanyahu stressed that Israel will remain in southern Lebanon “for as long as necessary to defend its northern border,” according to a statement sent to reporters by the Prime Minister’s Office.
The “official” said that Netanyahu “instructed the IDF to respond forcefully to any Hezbollah attack and to act to remove threats against our forces.”

Within days of the June 14 memorandum of understanding (MOU), Israeli forces launched a ground invasion of southern Lebanon under the false pretext of creating a 'buffer zone.' Israel Soldier Killed As Battle For Strategic Underground Base In Lebanon Continues
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) on June 20 acknowledged that a soldier was killed, and 13 others were injured in an overnight Hezbollah attack on troops in southern Lebanon.
The slain soldier was named as Sgt. First Class Nir Ben Ari from the Commando Brigade’s Maglan unit, one of the most elite reconnaissance groups in the IDF.
According to a military probe, at around 1:30 a.m. local time, a barrage of rockets and an explosive drone struck a military position in the town of Kfartebnit. The projectiles killed Ben Ari and wounded 13 other troops, including two in serious condition, one moderately, and ten lightly hurt.
Kfartebnit is located to the north of the Litani River, next to the strategic height of Ali Taher — where a large underground base with a complex network of tunnels is reported to be located.
The IDF has been attempting to capture the height for the past week. Ben Ari was the fifth Israeli soldier to be killed fighting there. Another soldier was killed in a nearby area to the north of the Litani.
In a statement released after announcing the soldier’s death, the IDF confirmed that it had received instructions from the political leadership to cease fire in Lebanon. Nevertheless, the military said that it will still work to demolish Hezbollah infrastructure within its security zone — including at the Ali Taher height — as well as to strike “immediate threats” beyond it.
The IDF described the underground base at Ali Taher in the statement as the “nerve center” of Hezbollah’s Badr regional division.
According to the military, dozens of Hezbollah fighters remained holed up underground there, and fighting has taken place above and below ground in recent days.
Earlier in the day, Hezbollah announced that it had repelled another attempt by the IDF to advance towards the strategic height.
“Again, under the cover of the ceasefire, the enemy last night carried out an infiltration attempt towards the Ali Taher hills,” Hezbollah said in a statement, adding that fighters ambushed the Israeli troops and “confronted them with appropriate weapons”.
Hezbollah declared that “while it is committed to the ceasefire, it will not be lenient in confronting any enemy attempt… to expand its occupation” in southern Lebanon.
The IDF’s offensive on Ali Taher has far reaching regional consequences. Iran once again closed the vital Strait of Hormuz over the Israeli escalation in Lebanon earlier in the day, with the Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters warning in a statement that this is just a “first step.”
Israel seems determined to capture Ali Taher. While the height is strategic, it is not the main goal of the ongoing offensive, which seems to be mainly aimed at sabotaging the memorandum of understanding signed earlier in the week by the United States and Iran.
