85-Year-Old Man Busted Going 110mph Tells Cop He Was ‘Having a Little Ride’ in His ‘Favorite Car’

An 85-year-old Florida man was arrested earlier this week after being accused of street racing a Corvette in Lake County.

In bodycam footage obtained by News 6 Orlando and published on Wednesday, June 15, William Bosworth told officers — while holding a cigarillo in his mouth — he was "having a little ride in my favorite car." Cops clocked him going 110 mph in a 45 mph zone near midnight on June 12.

When a deputy questioned Bosworth about the alleged street racing, he claimed the driver of the Corvette was at fault.

Bosworth went on to explain that he was driving at such a high speed "only because he swerved at me. I wanted to get away from him before we caused a problem."

He eventually complied with demands to exit the vehicle where he was placed in handcuffs and arrested. Bosworth was charged with excessive speeding and street racing.

While Bosworth was taken into custody, he has since bonded out. His next court date is set for July 7.

Scottish soccer fans have been having a blast in Boston over the past week,with the “Tartan Army” taking over restaurants and pubs, taking a victory lap of the city after their 1-0 win over Haition Saturday and marching to aRed Sox game at Fenway Park on Sunday.

They’ve also been drinking a lot of beer. So much so that some Boston bars ran out.

Sam Adams says its Boston Taproom ran out of Samuel Adams Boston Lager over the weekend because Scottish soccer fans drank it dry. From Thursday to Sunday, it said the Tartan Army drank four times as much Boston Lager as it normally sells during a typical four-day holiday stretch like the Fourth of July.

The company had to schedule an emergency delivery on Saturday morning just to keep up.

And Sam Adams wasn’t the only one.

Hennessy’s Bar in downtown Boston told The Boston Globe that it tripled its St. Patrick’s Day sales and sold out of beer altogether on Sunday night.

“We’ve been here for over 30 years, and we’ve never seen anything like it,” said Noelle Somers, Hennessy’s chief operating officer.

Federal Wine & Spirits in the Financial District told the Globe it sold out of Budweiser and Corona on Saturday and the door on one of its refrigerators broke from being opened and closed so many times.

Hopefully, the bars are stocking up. Scotland is next scheduled to play Morocco at Boston Stadium in Foxborough at 6 p.m. ET Friday.
