In 2026, BBB began reviewing X Corp.’s business practices. This review was prompted by a large volume of complaints and customer reviews received by BBB. Based on an evaluation of complaint and customer review data, BBB’s file conditions indicate this business has a pattern of complaints concerning account suspensions without meaningful explanation, lack of meaningful customer support or appeal access, continued billing after suspension or loss of account access, and difficulties recovering hacked or compromised accounts.
Consumers allege their accounts were suspended for vague reasons such as “inauthentic activity,” “platform manipulation,” or “spam,” without sufficient explanation regarding the alleged violation. Consumers further allege appeals are handled primarily through automated systems without meaningful human review, and that they are unable to reach live customer support representatives regarding suspensions, billing disputes, account recovery, or data access requests. Additional complaints allege consumers continued to be charged for X Premium subscriptions after losing access to suspended accounts and experienced difficulty cancelling subscriptions or obtaining refunds. BBB is concerned about the pattern and underlying issues reflected in these allegations.
In May 2026, BBB contacted X Corp. requesting the business address the underlying issues reflected in these disputes. BBB requested the business provide an outline of the policies, procedures, corrective actions, and other efforts it has in place to help address and eliminate the underlying issues identified in this review. As of May 29, 2026, BBB has not received a response from X Corp.
