In Daniel, Michael is called “the great prince who protects your people,” where “your people” refers to Daniel’s people: the Jews/Israel.
Daniel 10 also speaks of other “princes” like the “prince of Persia,” suggesting that other nations have their own angelic patrons, distinct from Michael.

The simulations that model the origin and evolution of the universe all follow the same basic pattern: set up an initial “baby universe,” apply the laws of physics step by step, and watch structure form in a virtual 3D box.

Define the virtual universe
Scientists choose a 3D “box” of space (a cube) that expands the same way the real universe does, so the box grows as time passes.
They decide what ingredients are in it: dark matter, ordinary gas, radiation, sometimes dark energy, neutrinos, and black holes. Each ingredient is represented by particles or fluid cells in the computer.

Set initial conditions (shortly after the Big Bang)
They start from conditions that match what we infer from the cosmic microwave background: almost uniform matter with tiny density ripples.
The initial amount of matter, dark energy, and the size of the early fluctuations come from observations and a chosen cosmological model (for example, flat universe with about 30% matter, 70% dark energy).

The simulation divides the big volume into millions or billions of particles or grid cells; each one carries mass, position, velocity, and sometimes temperature, chemical composition, etc.
Dark matter is often treated as “collisionless” particles, while gas is treated with fluid equations (hydrodynamics) on a grid or with particle-based fluid methods.

At every small time step, the code repeatedly does:
Compute gravity: how every bit of matter pulls on every other bit, usually using efficient algorithms to handle billions of particles.
Update motion: move particles according to Newton’s laws or general relativistic approximations (positions, velocities, expansion of the box).
Model gas physics: gas cooling, heating, shocks, and flows using hydrodynamics equations.
Add “subgrid” recipes: star formation, supernova explosions, black hole growth, and energy feedback, since those can’t be fully resolved at small scales.
The code loops these steps millions of times, marching from the early universe (e.g., tens of millions of years after the Big Bang) to the present day.

Output and compare to the real universe
As the simulation runs, it outputs snapshots: 3D maps of matter, galaxies, and black holes at different cosmic times.
Researchers then compare these “virtual universes” to telescope data: galaxy clustering, shapes, gas distribution, and large-scale cosmic web structure. If the match is good, it supports the underlying physics assumptions; if not, they tweak the model and rerun.
A well-known example, the TNG50 simulation, followed more than 20 billion particles in a 230-million-light-year box over 13.8 billion years, producing disk galaxies, spirals, and cosmic web structures that closely resemble what we observe.
“Going forward and backward” in practice
When simulation people say things like “we can go forward and backward in time,” they usually mean they can save snapshots and view earlier or later stages, or interpolate between stored outputs—not literally reverse the physics engine.
Some systems support a kind of “reverse time” mode by flipping velocities, but that’s effectively just starting a new forward simulation from a mid-point with reversed motions; it does not undo complex events like mergers or shocks in a physically exact way.
So you can reload earlier saves and branch—like having multiple save games in a video game—but you are not editing a single deterministic cosmic timeline and forcing it to end “just so.”

The next generation of D-Wave’s adiabatic quantum computer technology is called Vesuvius, and it’s going to be a very interesting processor. It will have 512 qubits and the system is scheduled for release late in 2012. The testing and development of this new generation of quantum processor is going well. Originally Dwave had talked about getting to over 1000 qubits by the end of 2008. Perhaps they have solved the issues which caused them to put off scaling the chips. Perhaps in 2013, Dwave will go to 1000 and 2000 qubit chips.
