Let’s say I taped myself commiting a crime and saved that tape in my safe at home. Then someone robs my house and steals the safe, then releases the tape, that tape can’t be used as evidence of the crime. Sure the tape could be used by law enforcers to follow leads and obtain other evidence, but the tape itself would be thrown out of court if presented as evidence because of its illegal aquisition.
