L.A School Superintendent Alberto Carvalho Resigns During Ongoing FBI Investigation

June 22, 2026 | Sundance |

If you were with CTH when I did the deep dive into the Miami-Dade School Police Department and Miami-Dade SchoolSuperintendent Alberto Carvalho,all of it related to theTravyon Martincase. You will likely rememberhow corrupt and sketchy Carvalho was.{SEARCH TOOL}

Pic

Carvalho organized a system within Miami-Dade, where black male students could avoid criminal charges, including felony cases, and have their behavior instead handled with school discipline.

The approach was part of theObama inspired “My Brother’s Keeper” concept. Miami-DadeSchool Police (MDSPD) were instructed not to arrest black male studentsand instead refer their conduct to school administration. Trayvon Martin was one of the beneficiaries {GO DEEP}.

Trayvon had burglarized a residence near the High School. He was serving a two-week suspension from school, sent to his father Tracy Martin in the Orlando area, and it was during that two-week suspension when George Zimmerman spotted Trayvonlooking in the patio doors and windows of residences in his condominium complex. The rest is history.

School Superintendent Alberto Carvalho was/is a very well connected political figure among Democrats. He was even considered for a VP nomination. However, it was Carvalho’s program to use the school police to inflate statistical improvements in schools that eventually led to neighboring Broward County doing the same thing in 2013. That “Promise Program” duplication led to the Parkland High School shooting.

Carvalho went to New York City under Mayor Bill de Blasio, and then out to Los Angeles. In February of this year, reports surfaced of Carvalho being under an FBI investigation for misuse of office, financial crimes, wire fraud and embezzlement. Yesterday Carvalho announced his resignation.

Los Angeles – […] District officials confirmed thatCarvalho sent a letter of resignation, effective immediately, to the school board.Carvalho, who had led the nation’s second largest school districtsince 2022, had been placed on leave by the board a few days following the raids. In the letter, Carvalho did not explicitly mention the investigation, but said that he was resigning because he believes schools “must remain focused on students and learning without distraction.”

[…]Federal officials have not publicly revealed the reason for searching Carvalho’s San Pedro homeand office in LAUSD’s downtown headquarters in February, and ajudge sealed court filingsabout the investigation.

The criminal probe appears to be connected to AllHere, a now-defunct tech startup that did business with LAUSD. FBI agents in Florida also searched a property in Southwest Ranches, a community in Broward County, which according to public records belongs to Debra Kerr, an education consultant who worked with AllHere and claimed the company owed her $630,000. Carvalho and Kerr have known each other for years through Kerr’s consulting work.

The resignation marksan unceremonious end to Carvalho’s tenure. The 61-year-old, who received a four-year contract extensionlast year, had been praised just months earlier by Gov. Gavin Newsom duringthe State of the State address for the district’s test score improvements. (read more)

California union warns of mass exodus with Newsom’s return to office order(CA totally destroyed and corrupt)

By Ashley Zavala,

June 21, 2026

California state workers are challenging a new mandate requiring them to return to the office four days a week starting July 1, as lawmakers advance a bill to ensure telework options. A billboard off a Sacramento highway warns of future traffic jams caused by Gov. Gavin Newsom’s order. State workers argue they have been working efficiently under hybrid schedules since the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Since COVID we have been working and doing the jobs and being efficient and doing the jobs to keep California running,” said Anica Walls, the president of SEIU Local 1000, which represents state workers in Sacramento. “This mandate as overarching as it does not give departments the space to bring back our workers as needed.”

It’s not clear which departments exactly are struggling with space and how the Newsom administration is handling it. A spokesman with California’s Government Operations Agency declined an interview request with California Politics 360.

At his budget presentation in May, Gov. Gavin Newsom acknowledged the challenges of returning to the office but emphasized the benefits of in-person work.

“Change is hard. I'm empathetic” he said. “Everyone has unique criteria, circumstance. We try to accommodate for that. I mean, four days a week, nice to see you again. I mean, would be nice to see you again, nice to see you again, nice to run into you in the hall, nice to develop a relationship, nice not feel so alone,” Newsom said.

From an economic perspective, the return-to-office mandate could benefit local businesses, according to Robert Heidt, president of the Sacramento Metro Chamber.

“There is a lot of value in bringing people back to the office. The ebb and flow. The next generation of workforce. There is a value in experiencing by observation. Even me as the CEO, if I wasn't here every day, there are things I wouldn't notice or pick up or see in the office,” Heidt said.

“I can't imagine that we can sustain an acceptable level of business and commerce with everyone remote. It just doesn't make sense,” he added.

State workers packed committee hearingsat the Capitol this week, advocating for a law that would require state agencies to provide telework options or justify why specific roles must be performed in-office. Democratic Assemblyman Alex Lee, who authored the bill AB 1729, said the issue is critical for many state employees.

“I have heard from so many state workers from even the Bay Area all up and down the state who saidthis is the thing that matters the most to them,” Lee said. “They don't want to move. They love their job, but they don't, they aren't willing to move after working 4-5 years in state service."….

“I have no doubt that our members are in the spaces they need to be and to successfully produce and do the job that they are assigned to do,” Walls said.

She also warned of potential consequences if the mandate remains in place.

“I feel like there will be a mass exodus. I feel like the state needs to be ready for a mass exodus. We have individuals who have been teetering retirement, who look at this 4-days a week when they have been doing their job efficiently in a hybrid schedule will probably send them into a retirement,” Walls said.

ICE arrests illegal immigrant Illinois teacher linked to Tren de Aragua mass shooting

Fox News

LOUIS CASIANO, BILL MELUGIN

EXCLUSIVE:A former Illinois teacher living in the United States illegally, who was allegedly involved in a 2024 Tren de Aragua mass shooting that killed three people at a Chicago house party, was arrested by federal authorities, officials said Monday.

Giovanna Mercedes Moreno Occhipinti, 32, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela with dual citizenship in Italy, was taken into custody byU.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on May 13,the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said.

Occhipinti entered the U.S. in October 2021 under the Visa Waiver Program and was supposed to leaveby Jan. 2, 2022. She overstayed her visa, DHS said.

On the night of the Dec. 2, 2024, shooting, she allegedly drove the two gunmen—Ricardo Granadillo Padilla and Edward Martinez Cermeno—to the scene of the crime, where five people were injured in addition to the three fatalities, authorities said.

Although Chicago police arrested this illegal alien shortly after the shooting, sanctuary politicians released her from jail without notifying ICE," DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement. "Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, DHS is doing the job that sanctuary politicians in Illinois refuse to do: putting the American people first and removing these dangerous criminals from our communities."

Martinez Cermeno was released from ICE custody in January 2025 after a federal judge determined that federal prosecutors failed to meet their burden of proof to keep him incarcerated while awaiting trial.

Immediately after the shooting, authorities found multiple weapons in Occhipinti's vehicle, DHS said. Authorities believe she helped Granadillo Padilla and Martinez Cermeno evade law enforcement after the attack.

The Chicago Police Department arrested Occhipinti on Dec. 5, 2024, on charges of unlawful use of weaponsand other weapons offenses. However, she was released without ICE ever being notified under Chicago's sanctuary policies, which protect illegal immigrants from federal immigration authorities.

The Cook County State's Attorney's office decided not to prosecute the suspects, DHS said, and Granadillo Padilla and Martinez Cermeno were eventually deported.

"Giovanna Mercedes Moreno Occhipinti's actions were calculated and deliberate, leading to the loss of three lives," said HSI Chicago Special Agent in Charge Matthew Scarpino. "I'm proud of our agents for pursuing this case to the end, ensuring that everyone who helped facilitate this mass homicide is brought to justice."

Fox News was told by DHSthat Occhipinti was a teacher at an unspecified school in the Chicago suburb of Elgin. Illinois officials have refused to cooperate with federal authorities and will not tell DHS the name of the school, Fox News has learned.

Occhipinti is being held at the Grayson County Detention Center in Leitchfield, Kentucky.

Nancy Guthrie ransom note to her family included rambled 'apology' for accidentally killing her, bombshell report says

10:54 EDT 22 Jun 2026

One of the disturbing ransom notes received by Nancy Guthrie's family included a chilling apology for accidentally killing her, according to a new report.

A bizarre blackmail letter sent February 6 offered to return the 84-year-old's body in return for money, a source familiar with the investigation told Air Mail.

The memo followed an earlier note to TMZ from the same sender, which correctly described what Guthrie was wearing on the night she was abducted, and included information about a damaged floodlight in her backyard.

Guthrie, who is the mother of NBC News Today anchor Savannah Guthrie, was kidnapped from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on the night of February 1.

Initial messages from the sender said Guthrie was 'safe but scared', and agreed to return her if the family paid $4 million in Bitcoin by 5pm on February 5.

They added that if the ransom was not paid by February 9, this would increase to $6 million, 'or else', according to Air Mail, a digital weekly newsletter.

The 'apology' note, which came from the same IP address as these initial, seemingly credible emails, arrived at the Guthrie family's home on February 6.

It said that Guthrie had been accidentally killed, and offered to deliver her body back to the family for a sum of $4 million.

After Air Mail's report was published on Monday, TMZ, which received the first note, said none of the letters contained an apology or stated that Guthrie was dead.

TMZ reported instead that a man wrote in the first email that 'time is of the essence' - but the next day followed up saying 'time is no longer of the essence', claiming that kidnappers had taken Guthrie to Mexico.

The day after the ransom note was received, Savannah posted a heartbreaking clip on Instagram, sitting next to her brother, Camron, and sister, Annie.

'We beg you now to return our mother to us, so that we can celebrate with her,' the TV host pleaded in the video posted to her Instagram page.

'This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.'

Savannah has since said she believes those ransom notes were real.

As the investigation into Nancy's disappearance continues, federal authorities are re-examining the letters for any clues about the captor's identity, according to Air Mail.

They note that the ransom letters show that the captor is articulate and knowledgeable about the intricacies of cryptocurrency.

U.N. maritime agency says Tehran's Strait of Hormuz insurance demands not "official"

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has refuted an apparent Iranian effort to introduce a new requirement for all commercial vessels to have an insurance policy approved by Tehran before transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

The Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA), an agency created by Iran during the war that the regime says has sole responsibility for regulating traffic through the vital waterway, said in documents that surfaced last last week that ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz needed insurance approved by the agency.

The IMO, a United Nations agency that regulates maritime transport - said Monday that it did not recognize the demand. In a statement, the IMO said the documents laying out the PGSA's demands had "not been officially submitted to IMO and are not part of any official process or record."

"All ships enjoy the right of transit passage through straits used for international navigation. This right cannot be suspended or hampered by coastal States," the U.N. agency said, adding: "There is no established basis in international law that allows for the imposition of mandatory tolls or fees."
