Florida taps Matt Gaetz for board post

ormer Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., on Tuesday announced that the state legislature had appointed him to a board of directors responsible for disbursing settlement funds to Florida residents affected by a 2010 oil spill.

Gaetz announced his appointment to the board in an X post, which included a letter from state House Speaker Daniel Perez, R, informing him of his selection.

"I am returning to public service!

Thank you, Speaker Perez, for this appointment.

I look forward to the work ahead as we continue improving the lives of Northwest Floridians," he posted on X.
