Aaron Vaughn survived the Extortion 17 crash. He was captured and had large parts of his memory taken from him.
Years later he posted two videos.
Both times he showed his face clearly in good light.
The first video was made while he was still gaunt and broken. He spoke cryptically, hoping the message about the “gold tickets lined with lead” might help expose the people who had hurt him.
He said:
“See this curl? I didn’t even remember I had a curl. Funny when your memory is erased.”
Almost no one paid attention publicly — except the people who had harmed him, who privately noted it.
However, thousands of people who saw that first video correctly identified him and couldn’t stop thinking about whether he was alright.
The second video came years later.
By then he was healthy and tanned. He posted it with his face fully visible in clear light — no hiding, no fear.
There was no curl in the middle of his forehead then.
He never gave his name. That video was only meant as quiet proof of life for the thousands who had seen the first Tiktok video, had correctly identified who he was, and couldn’t stop worrying about whether he was alright.
Even with his face shown clearly in good light, he didn’t look the same in a superficial way after all those years. Most people who saw the second video still said it wasn’t him. They looked straight at him and believed he couldn’t be Aaron Vaughn because he had been dead for so long. Only those who had already recognized him from the first video understood what they were seeing.
His family knew it was him, but they had been threatened and bribed into silence years earlier, so they said nothing.
After that second video, Aaron never posted again. He lived the rest of his life under a new name and quietly continued saving people — becoming a hero again in his new life, anonymously and without public fanfare.
The curl would still appear when his hair grew out.
