One of America’s top generals has abruptly announced he was resigning as Secretary of War Pete Hegseth continues to purge the Department’s failed senior leadership.

As The Associated Press reported on Wednesday, General Christopher Donahue, commanding general of U.S. Army Europe and Africa and commander of NATO’s Allied Land Command, surprisingly announced he was quitting his position after only a year and a half.

Per CBS News, Donahue had been clashing with Hegseth.

The Army’s commander of its forces in Europe and Africa — who was famously the last American soldier to leave Afghanistan in 2021 — is unexpectedly stepping down from his post after just 18 months in the job, the Army confirmed late Tuesday.

Gen. Christopher Donahue, commanding general of U.S. Army Europe and Africa and commander of NATO’s Allied Land Command, will relinquish his command on July 2, according to an Army statement provided to The Associated Press.

He is the latest in a line of nearly two dozen top military leaders to either retire or depart their jobs early under the leadership of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who has undertaken an effort to thin the ranks of the military’s top brass with the mantra “less generals, more GIs.”

Donahue’s deputy, Maj. Gen. Christopher Norrie will temporarily take over his duties.

Donohue’s resignation comes as Hegseth sought to downgrade his post from four-star to three-star. As the Daily Mail notes, such a demotion strips the military’s highest rank of command.

Donohue is famous for being the American service member to leave Afghanistan during the 2021 withdrawal from the country. He commanded Delta Force units in Iraq and Afghanistan before leading the 82nd Airborne Division from July 2020 to March 2022.

Last May, Hegseth ordered the new examination of the withdrawal. It’s not yet known what specific new information the review is seeking.

Donohue is the latest of several other prominent generals to be ousted.

Back in April, Hegseth terminated the following military figure: Army Chief of Staff General Randy George, the Army’s chief of chaplains, Major General William Green Jr., and the head of Army Transformation and Training Command, General David Hodne.

These firings came after the ousting of over a dozen generals and admirals since Hegseth assumed office.

(Remember Trump talked to 1,000s of top brass and said there will be terminations, there are too many generals, and not enough discipline and soldiers. I guess when they get the General Medal they don’t want to be reduced.)

Hungary has delayed a key procedural step in the EU membership bids of Ukraine and Moldova,complicating Kiev’s plan to open all six accession clusters by mid-July, Politico has reported. Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyarhas said fast-tracking Ukraine’s EU accession would be premature.

Kiev has repeatedly demanded a faster path into the bloc,with Vladimir Zelensky insisting on full membership no later than 2027despite opposition from multiple EU members.

Budapest blocked the circulation of a joint letter outlining the position of all 27 EU member states to the European Council and European Commission, Politico reported on Tuesday, citing two EU diplomats.

Decisions on accession to the bloc require unanimous backing from member states, with Hungary remaining the only country opposed to moving the process forward.

Magyar said Budapest is against opening all six negotiating clusters simultaneously, arguing that the accession process should proceed more cautiously.

“There are six clusters in total, and we don’t think opening them all at once is a good idea,” Magyar told reporters after last week’s European Council meeting in Brussels.Such a move could send “the wrong message” to Western Balkan countries that have spent years pursuing EU membership, he said, referring to Serbia, Albania, Montenegro, and North Macedonia

Magyar has previously said Ukraine’s accession could take ten to 15 years and tied further progressto Kiev’s treatment of the ethnic Hungarian minority. Around 80,000 Hungarians live in Ukraine, mostly in the western Zakarpattia Region, and their status has long strained relations between the two neighbors. The issue was a recurring source of friction under Magyar’s predecessor, Viktor Orban, who repeatedly blocked Kiev’s efforts to move closer to the EU.

Budapest has also maintained its refusal to send weapons to Kiev.

Under Orban, Hungary refused to send weapons to Kiev and protested the forced mobilization of ethnic Hungarians, some of whom hold Hungarian passports, into the Ukrainian military to fight Russia.

Ukraine’s accession bid has also been consistently opposed by Slovakia. Bratislava and Budapest argue that Ukrainian membershipcould draw the EU into an open conflict with Russiaand undermine the bloc’s economy.

Moscow says it does not oppose Ukraine joining the EU, but has criticized what Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov 00described as the bloc’s evolution into an “aggressive military-political alliance” and an “appendage of NATO.”Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has also argued that Ukrainian accession could weaken the EU and potentially destabilize the bloc.

Germany sinks von der Leyen’s €18 billion pet warship project

Germany has pulled the plug on its largest naval shipbuilding projectsince the end of WWII, scrapping plans for a fleet of six F126 frigates first ordered under then-Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen.

The plans to axe the project were first reported by Der Spiegel on Tuesday, whichsaid the program had long been plagued by numerous issues. The ministry confirmed the move the next day, saying it was“due to significant delays, enormous cost increases, and incalculable risks.”

It also noted that completing six F126s would have driven total costs above €18billion ($20.3 billion) – compared to the initial estimate of €5.27 billion for four vessels.

Launched in 2020 under von der Leyen, theF126 program was billed as the largest warship project in modern German Navy history, displacing 10,500 tons and stretching 166 meters –big enough to stay at sea for two years with rotating crews. The vessel was designed to be highly versatile, capable of roles ranging from submarine hunting to supporting special forces and drone operations.

The contract was initially awarded to the Dutch Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS), but the project quickly stalled as the company struggled to transfer ship design data into the production systems used by German shipyards and suppliersdue to incompatible software.

Costs already started ballooning as early as 2019 – even before the contract went to DSNS – with then-Left Party MP Matthias Hohn calling the project a “money pit.”

Around the same time, the ministry’s tendering process drew its own controversy. Von der Leyen’s office came under accusations of tolerating nepotism and cronyism afterhanding lucrative, largely uncompetitive contracts to McKinsey consultancy.

Critics pointed to the fact that Katrin Suder, then-state secretary in the Defense Ministry, was herself a veteran McKinsey employee. A later federal audit found that in most cases,the ministry failed to justify why external consultants were necessary.

According to Der Spiegel, as DSNS continued to struggle with the order, German defense officials weighed handing the contract to German shipbuilder Naval Vessels Lurssen, now owned by Rheinmetall, the country’s largest arms manufacturer. But the ministry ultimately ruled this out,saying it would have meant waiving its right to sue DSNS for damages.

The termination of the project was a severe blow to Rheinmetall, with shares plunging as much as 17% in the stock’s worst single-day fall in years.

In place of the F126, the ministry plans to buy eight MEKO A-200-DEU frigates – ships originally pitched as a stopgap “bridge solution.” Built by the TKMS shipbuilding conglomerate, the MEKO A-200 is far smaller than the F126, at around 120 meters and 4,200 tons.

The first four frigates would cost around €6.3 billion, with an option on four more for around €5.3 billion if exercised by the end of 2026, pending approval from the Bundestag’s Budget Committee.

The termination of the controversial project comes as Germany carries out its largest militarization campaign in decades, with the 2026 defense budget reaching €108 billion. Germany and other European nations have cited the supposed ‘Russian threat’ to justify the build-up. Moscow has dismissed speculation that it plans to attack NATO as “nonsense.”

Nuclear weapons are the only thing preventing humanity from sliding into a global war, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said, as he commented on the worsening state of international security.

While the civilization-ending power of atomic weapons still deters a global confrontation, regional conflicts continue to erupt and are becoming increasingly devastating, the Russian official said on Wednesday. Peskov made the remarks while moderating a panel discussion at the Primakov Readings in Moscow.

“Directly speaking, we have nothing left in the world except nuclear deterrence. It’s the only thing saving the world from a global war,” Peskov said of international security mechanisms.

“We don’t really have any levers to reach an agreement in this area,” he added. “We can’t even reform the United Nations Security Council.”

The stark assessment came during a debate on sweeping changes in international institutions and what kind of global order could emerge by 2050.

The current international security system was established after World War II, with the five permanent members of the UN Security Council playing a central role in maintaining global stability.The same countries – China, France, Russia, the UK, and the US – are also the only states recognized as nuclear powers under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Several other countries have acquired nuclear weapons outside that framework, including India, Pakistan, North Korea, and Israel, though the latter neither confirms nor denies its status.

Critics argue that growing tensions between major powers have left the UN Security Council increasingly divided and less effective. Moscow has blamed the situation on Western efforts to preserve the unipolar world order that emerged after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Federal judge blocks state bans on buying soda and candy with food stamps

A federal judge on Monday blocked the Trump administrationfrom allowing five states to ban the purchase of sugary drinks and candy with food stamps.

The decision is a major setback for Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s “Make America Healthy Again” movement, known as MAHA, which is focused on minimizing the consumption of ultraprocessed foods to reduce the prevalence of chronic diseases such as obesity and diabetes.

Kennedy has worked closely with Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, who has granted waiver requests by nearly two dozen states to restrict food purchases in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, the formal name for food stamps. Not all of the bans have gone into effect yet.

US District Judge Amy Berman Jacksonin the District of Columbia ruled that the US Department of Agriculture lacked the authority to approve state waivers in pilot projects in Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska, Tennessee and West Virginia.

In their waivers, the states sought to change the federal definition of food to one that restricted certain products. The bans differed somewhat in each state, with all limiting the purchase of sugary drinks, such as soda and energy beverages, and some also restricting candy. The limits applied to all SNAP recipients, with no exceptions allowed.

Jackson pointed out that her decision is not intended as a comment on whether the bans are a good idea.

“The federal defendants and the states may have a genuine desire to improve the health of SNAP households by encouraging healthy choices at the store, and they can take lawful steps to meet those goals,” Jackson wrote. “But what they cannot do is violate the law and their own regulations along the way.”

The judge noted the authority the USDA is relying on allows the agency to enact pilot projects to test the efficiency of the SNAP program but does not include improving the health and diet of recipients.

Rollins vowed that the administration will continue the MAHA fight.

“An activist judge just blocked our commonsense restriction on using SNAP benefits for soda and junk,” she posted on X on Tuesday. “SNAP is for food — not sugar bombs fueling obesity, diabetes, and skyrocketing healthcare costs for low-income families. Taxpayers shouldn’t subsidize junk food and drinks at the expense of American health.”

CNN has reached out to HHS for comment.

One of the law firms that brought the case said the ruling “is a major step in restoring essential food assistance to the millions of families that rely on SNAP nationwide.”

“This decision makes clear that the USDA cannot bypass the legal guardrails that establish how SNAP must operate across the country,” said Katharine Deabler-Meadows, seniorattorney at the National Center for Law and Economic Justice. “It affirms that families deserve a program that works without confusion.”(she’s saying they are too stupid to know good food and bad food!and it’s ok if the die or get disease by eating that way.)

For fifteen years or more, the American, British, and European Deep States have been indoctrinating their respective populations about the dangers of “disinformation.” Effectively, Western governments have been laying a foundation in the social consciousness to support these points of view: (1) Foreign adversaries are engaging in information warfare against Western citizens. (2) Therefore, Western governments must be empowered to regulate what is “true.”

The first point is certainly correct. Foreign governments use propaganda to influence and even undermine Western societies.The second point, however, is a “solution” that is far worse than the recognized problem. Why? Because Western governments engage in information warfare, too. Western espionage agencies use propaganda not only to influence and undermine foreign governments but also to influence domestic populations and undermine domestic dissent.

Fully armed with the privilege of lying to Western citizens,Western governments told us many COVID whoppers, including: (1) The virus naturally evolved and came from a wet market. (2) It was an order of magnitude more lethal than seasonal flu. (3) Masks; church, school, and business closures; home confinement; six-foot human separation; restrictions on travel; isolation of ill or dying loved ones from their families; a general moratorium on funerals; and other arbitrary and capricious social distancing guidelines would prevent the spread of the virus. (4) Natural immunity was ineffective. (5) The experimental mRNA injections were effective “vaccines.” (6) The experimental mRNA injections would prevent infection, illness, and death. (7) Children and healthy adults must be forced to receive the experimental mRNA injections, even though they are not likely to become seriously ill or die from the COVID virus.(8) Any death that could be linked to an mRNA injection must be treated as a death due to the COVID virus.

What has been the response from the major corporate news powerhouses? Crickets. Senator Johnson was forced to publish his damning report on X because, “The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA TODAY, and Fox Digital have all declined or ignored requests to publish this op-ed.” NBC, ABC, PBS, CNN, and MS NOW also refused to address his report. The corporate news media — which regularly pats itself on the back for “speaking truth to power” — appears to be complicit in the government’s COVID propaganda campaign.

Over at The Conservative Treehouse, researcher extraordinaire Sundance has an article that organizes all of Gabbard’s COVID declassifications under the headline, “DNI Tulsi Gabbard Releases Evidence Anthony Fauci Manipulated Intelligence and Lied to Congress.” The first sentence of Sundance’s article gets straight to the point: “The central question remains, and unfortunately it is a question that cannot be answered except by dropping all pretenses. That question is: Was the SARS-CoV-2 release ‘accidental’ or done with ‘intent’.” Calling the Intelligence Community’s propaganda efforts “control mitigation” and an “after action” operation to influence the public’s perception, Sundance reminds readers that we still don’t know whether one or more intelligence agencies or militaries planned and executed the global health emergency.

We do know that 2020 was a presidential election year in the United States, and shutting down the country produced a number of immediate effects: (1) America’s robust economic growth halted. (2) Americans experienced a once-in-a-lifetime national emergency that continued through the election. (3) President Trump, well known for traveling the country and speaking to large audiences, was prevented from holding any election rallies. (4) Presidential nominee Joe Biden, a man who had never received more than single-digit support in prior runs for the White House and whose public speaking skills have always been subpar, ran for office from the finished basement of his Delaware home. (5) Using the excuse of the COVID “health emergency,” Democrat attorneys convinced state judges to permit extraordinary changes to existing election law, including the introduction of mass mail-in-ballots on an unprecedented scale.

The end result was that the perennially unpopular Joe Biden became the most popularly “elected” president in the history of the United States — besting “rock star” Barack Obama’s re-election numbers by fifteen million votes and MAGA-man Donald Trump’s 2024 re-election numbers by four million votes!

A congressional housing bill passes, and still no SAVE America Act? Updated 1/2

A housing bill with a lot of flaws got through,but we still see no sign of the SAVE America Act. What gives?

Thepress is out hailing the 'rare, bipartisan' 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, passed in the Senate, 85-5, and either signed or expected to be signed, by President Trump.

According to Scripps News:

The 21st century Road to Housing Act is aimed at lowering costs, creating new housing supply, and critically cutting red tape. The bill is a joint effort between Republican Sen. Tim Scott, a close ally of President Donald Trump, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a progressive and one-time Democratic presidential candidate.

Fine and dandy, thoughthere are a lot of things not to like about the bill.

What's concerning is that there's no sign of the SAVE America Act, which mandates voter ID for participation in electionsand is supported by 80 percent of the public. Administration officials had said that nothing was going to be signed until that SAVE America Act got signed first. But now this housing act is getting its time in the sun.

Sure, inflated housing costs are a big deal, particularly in tax-and-regulation-choked blue zones, but also in booming places like Florida.And it will probably help Republicans (and incumbent establishment Democrats under fire from flaming socialists) at midterms to show that they can get something done.Getting rid of regulations, or well, streamlining them as this bill tries to do, is probably a good idea.But high housing costs are a function of interest rates– which are high, based on federal overspending for the gargantuan expansion of government along with the billions in fraud.There's nothing in the bill that can fix that.

The five Senate objectors from among the Republicans had decent reasons for their 'no' votes:

Here's Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville, in a statement to TIME:

Tuberville said in a written statement to TIME that he’s “looking for ways to bring down housing costs for American families.But giving the federal government more control over housing is not the answer.”

“We have seen time and time again thatwriting a blank check to blue cities means that federal tax dollars will end up in the hands of illegalsinstead of going to the American citizens it was intended to help,” Tuberville said. “Thisbill also expands the already bloated Department of Housing and Urban Development, which is the opposite of what we need to be doing. We should be focused on getting government out of the way and allowing the free market to drive down costs through competition and a booming economy.”

Illegals will get the cash through special programs, while ordinary Americans will go without homes andcontinue to pay for the illegals' freebies. We know that will happen. The citizenship provisions had been stripped out of the bill that passed.

Utah Sen. Mike Lee pointed out another problem, in a statement to TIME (emphasis mine):

“Americans need more affordable housing. Unfortunately, this bill doesn’t do enough to provide it,instead increasing the federal government’s long-running and failed involvement in the U.S. housing market,” Lee said.

I likedFlorida Sen. Rick Scott's objectionin his statement to TIME, too, seeking accountability:

“If we’re passing the ROAD to Housing Act, I think it’s only fair to make sure it actually works,” the Florida Senator said.

“I offered an Amendment to make sure Congress gets an annual report on how this bill directly impacts housing affordability for middle income homeowners. But, I never got the chance to bring it up.This should have been a no-brainer.It proves that what we’re doing HELPS the American people.”

He's right. That they refused to include that kind of aprovision suggests that this will be another 'Inflation Reduction Act' which will accomplish the opposite of its intention.

But the bigger question is that with a bill like this, why wasn't the SAVE America Act voted through?News reports say that President Trump is heading to Capitol Hill today to sign the housing bill and will lobby for the SAVE America Act, which is supported by 80 percent of the voters and is sure to be popular for Congress if it passes.I hope he has the political muscle because the future of credible elections and whether Republicans can ever win elections again is at stake here.

It's being held up by a small coterie of RINOs, including Senate Majority Leader John Thune, whose intransigence against the bill, andstrange excuse-making suggest that either he and his pals benefit from zero voter ID themselves or else they have been paid off by someoneand are being men of their word. I can't think of any other potential reasons.

Rep. Ana Luna of Florida – who's a rising star given her brave stances,voted with her congressional allies against the housing act as a protest at the failure of the Senate to push the SAVE America Act through. She was right to do it.

So why President Trump is signing this questionable housing bill and not insisting on the SAVE America Act first is a bit of a mystery. One can only hope now that he has something good up his sleeve to muscle these recalcitrant RINOs into playing ball on that vital bill.

It did not happen last night folks. It took them another 15 years after they installed Obama to become the legitimate heirs to the political party formerly known as Democrats.

The progressive movement is now branded as “Democrat Socialists of America” (DSA), but those who have followed the arc of this group wellunderstand every single member within DSA is from the Occupy Wall Street / Anarchy movement that preceded it.

Fingers are being pointed toward New York as the epicenter of the new Democrat Party Headquarters of DSA, which is a fitting location of focus given the OWS origin.

The front line of the DSA movement consists of 18 to 30-year-olds, mostly white, urban, upper-middle-income activists, carrying Macbooks with anarchist stickers and physical attire resembling a blend of hipster ‘grunge’ and skateboard beanie resistance. They don’t shower much and love to talk about AOC and Bernie on Social Media.

Don’t belittle them, they are authentic. They don’t misunderstand things; they bought into the nonsense and genuinelybelieve the popular narrative sold to them since High Schoolthat capitalism is horrible and Communism or Socialism is the preferred system of government.

Individually, not one of them would shed a tear if their collective comrades broke into their parent’s houses tomorrow and murdered the elders. When joined in group assemblies, their emotions are controlled by the sensibility of the group.This is the Mao generation, repeating and rhyming.

IDEOLOGY: Capitalism is bad. Law enforcement are pigs. Policy should support emotions. The collective should rule every decision.

Democrat socialists believe all dissent must be squashed unless they actually lose a popular election – then, the system is oppressing them.Speech that argues against their belief system is ‘violence’. However, violence that supports their belief system is ‘speech’.

Democrat Socialists of America are factually Occupy Wall Street activists. The traditional mechanisms of self-controlling morality do not apply to this group of generational ideologues. The haves -vs- have nots is their religion. They never cede power and elections do not remove them. Go look at history, the only thing that has ever stopped Socialism is physical violence.

You may have read the stories of multi-billionaires building bunkers.The predictable DSA is why.

People who say, “violence is not the answer” are pretending they don’t know history.

“What DSA represents is a real contrast toDemocrats who have run the last couple of elections on fear,”DSA national co-chair Megan Romer said. “You can’t run on that. You have to offer an alternative.And it’s really important that we be involved in that conversation in 2028. It’s important that we have somebody saying sensible things.”

Their search process is already underway. This summer, DSA is dispatching surveys to all 250 of its chapters, asking members to weigh who they want to back and why, andreturn their findings to national leadership by Sept. 15,details the group first shared with POLITICO. DSA expects to receive a stack of 20-page to 40-page dossiers from chapters coast to coast weighing in onwho should carry the democratic socialist banner into 2028.

The organization plans to hold national discussions, including with leaders like New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who is 84 and not expected to run in 2028, with a formal vote expected at the group’s 2027 convention next year — though leaders say they could move faster if the primary timeline demands it.

“We’re going to be talking about millions of hours knocking doors for 2028— so when we decide to really run somebody, people have to feel like they had a say,” Romer said.

Mamdani-backed candidates swept three closely watched New York congressional primaries Tuesday, with Claire Valdez, Brad Lander and Darializa Avila Chevalier all defeating more establishment-aligned rivals — including two incumbents.It was a major show of force for Mamdani’s political operation, and fresh evidence of the left’s growing muscle heading into 2028. “They ask, ‘Who do you want to run in 2028?’ Then they ask, ‘When does the race for 2028 begin?’ It starts now. It starts on Tuesday,” Mamdani said at a Brooklyn rally last week.
