Received my paperback copies of The 2 Ethiopic Books of Dominos (Covenant) this afternoon. The foreward/preface nicely summarizes their content with respect to other biblical texts.
The Books of the Lord or The Books of the Covenant (1 Dominos and 2 Dominos) in the Ethiopic broader canon constitute a fascinating locus for the study of early Christian liturgical, ethical, and Christological traditions in Ethiopic Christianity. Over time, scholars have recognized that 1 Dominos closeely corresponds to the Testamentum Domini (the "Testament of Our Lord") preserved in Greek/Syriac traditions, while 2 Dominos aligns with the Epistula Apostolorum (the "Epistle of the Apostles"). Under this identification, the Ethiopic canon effectively relabels or repackages these two separate works under a unified rubric.
