NASA Identifies More Than 40 Space Technologies for Collaboration
Jun 26, 2026
NASA selected 41 proposals from 37 companies to advance technologies in support of the agency’s goals to establish a long-term presence on the Moon and enable human exploration of Mars.
These American companies, picked from NASA’s 2025 Announcement of Collaboration Opportunity (ACO), will mature technologies creating solutions for space transportation, planetary surface operations, and lunar surface infrastructure.
“We are empowering American industry to become active partners in NASA’s missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond,” said Greg Stover, director, Advanced Research and Technology Division in the agency’s Research and Technology Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington.
“By tapping into commercial industry, NASA can rapidly develop key capabilities to support its most ambitious missions while fostering the nation’s robust space economy.”
NASA’s ACO establishes mutually beneficial partnerships between the agency and industry without the exchange of funds.
Through this opportunity, companies leverage NASA’s specialized facilities, software, hardware, and subject matter experts, allowing them to rapidly mature their technologies for both commercial markets and future government missions.
Since launching the first ACO in 2015, NASA has supported more than 110 projects.
The total estimated value of agency resources to support the agreements is approximately $30 million, which leverages an additional $32 million of industry contributions.
The period of performance will be negotiated for each agreement, with an expected duration of 12 to 24 months.
Industry proposers were tasked with responding to agency technology topics that would benefit from the rapid development enabled by a public-private partnership, including space transportation engine elements, guidance and navigation systems, landing systems, in-space servicing assembly and manufacturing, and energy management technologies.
The complete list of selections can be found on the agency’s website and span cross-cutting capabilities, including:
Power generation
Lockheed Martin will mature a modular, compact energy solution that could support sustained power generation in the Moon’s permanently shadowed regions, helping future crew and resources survive the long lunar night.
The company’s wireless power transfer system aims to advance power-beaming technology using fiber lasers and a space-based heat rejection system for durability.
In-space logistics
To enhance orbital missions, Kall Morris Inc. will develop Asteria, a supplemental payload attachment system. Asteria can attach to legacy, current, and next-generation orbital assets using a non-destructive, controlled-release adhesive without requiring pre-installed infrastructure.
This technology enables advanced maneuvering, improved object tracking, asset protection, data collection, and satellite life extension.
Dust mitigation technology
Moonprint Solutions, a small business, is proposing flexible isolation covers to protect critical hardware and systems from abrasive dust in the harsh lunar environment.
Flexible covers provide a strategic advantage by offering protection that conforms to complex shapes for a variety of hardware.
These durable covers could be used on rovers, robotic joints, hoses, and other articulated equipment to support long-term operations on the Moon and Mars.
Selected projects could make a significant impact on the commercial space sector, such as expanding existing or opening new markets, lowering price, increasing choice, or providing entirely new capabilities.
Organizations interested in developing space technology with NASA can explore opportunities online.

Report to Congress on Returning Humans to the Moon
June 26, 2026 6:55 AM
The following is the June 25, 2026, Congressional Research Service In Focus report, Artemis: NASA’s Program to Return Humans to the Moon.
From the report
Orion and the Space Launch System
The Artemis program has evolved from plans initiated in the NASA Authorization Act of 2010 (P.L. 111-267).
The act established a statutory goal of “expand[ing] permanent human presence beyond low-Earth orbit” and mandated the development of a crew capsule and a heavy-lift rocket to accomplish that goal.
The capsule, now known as Orion, and the rocket, known as the Space Launch System (SLS), have been in development since that time (see Figure 1).
Each Orion capsule consists of a crew module with room for four to six astronauts, storage space, and a docking port; a service module (contributed by the European Space Agency) to provide power and propulsion; and a launch abort system.
The crew module is designed to be reusable and is the only portion intended to return to Earth at the end of a mission.
SLS is an expendable rocket designed to carry Orion into space and set it on an initial trajectory to the Moon.
SLS could also be used for other missions involving heavy payloads or requiring very high thrust. As required by P.L. 111-267, SLS was designed to accommodate future, phased upgrades (known as Block 1, Block 1B, and Block 2) to increase its thrust capacity.
Similarly, NASA planned to upgrade SLS’s upper stages (i.e., in-space propulsion) by developing what is known as the Exploration Upper Stage.
The first launch of Orion on an SLS was in November 2022. This mission, known as Artemis I, was an uncrewed test flight near the Moon to certify safety for crewed flights.
Artemis II, the first crewed test of Orion and SLS, occurred in April 2026. Orion and its crew of four traveled near the Moon before returning to Earth.
In February 2026, the NASA Administrator announced that, after Artemis II, NASA will use a single version of SLS in a “near Block 1 configuration,” rather than upgrading to the Block 1B and Block 2 variants for future missions, in order to reduce complexity and accelerate manufacturing.
Rather than developing the Exploration Upper Stage, NASA selected the United Launch Alliance’s (ULA’S) Vulcan Centaur V Upper Stage in March 2026.
The agency intends to award ULA a sole-source contract (i.e., no competitive bidding), as it determined that existing alternatives “fail to meet the performance requirements” or would require significant modifications or development.
Human Landing System
The Orion capsule is not designed to land on the Moon. Instead, astronauts are to transfer to a separate spacecraft, known as a Human Landing System (HLS), for lunar descent and ascent (see Figure 1).
NASA selected two HLS providers: SpaceX, using a version of its Starship, and Blue Origin, using its Blue Moon lander. Both systems are still in development.
In February 2026, the NASA Administrator announced that the Artemis III mission, to occur in mid-2027, will demonstrate one or both HLSs in low Earth orbit. Next, Artemis IV is to be the first human landing on the Moon since 1972 and is planned to occur by 2028.
In a March 2026 report, the NASA Office of Inspector General (OIG) reported that both HLS providers have faced schedule delays and technical challenges that “have the potential to further impact lander costs and delivery schedules,” particularly for a 2028 lunar landing. NASA is considering proposals from both providers to accelerate development in support of the 2028 target date.

Watch live: Rocket Lab launching 'Ten Owl of Ten' mission for Synspective today
Liftoff is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. ET today (June 26).
Rocket Lab is scheduled to launch another Strix satellite for Japanese company Synspective's imaging constellation, in orbit above the island nation.
An Electron rocket will lift off from Rocket Lab's Launch Complex-1 (LC-1) in New Zealand today (June 26), during a window that opens at 12:45 p.m. EDT (1645 GMT; 4:45 a.m. on June 27 local New Zealand time).
As its name suggests, the "Ten Owl of Ten" mission will launch Synspective's 10th synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite, which will expand the company's network above Japan to provide imaging data for use in city planning, monitoring infrastructure and responding to natural disasters.
You can watch it here at Space.com, courtesy of Rocket Lab, as well as on the company's website. Coverage is expected to begin about 30 minutes before the opening of the launch window.
The launch will be Rocket Lab's 12th so far in 2026, and the ninth for Electron this year (the other flights were performed by the HASTE rocket, a suborbital variant of Electron).
Electron, Rocket Lab's workhorse small-lift launch vehicle, stands 59 feet (18 meters) tall and can launch payloads weighing up to 661 pounds (300 kilograms) to low Earth orbit (LEO).
Synspective has booked Electron to launch the entirety of its Strix constellation, with 17 more on the rocket's manifest expected to launch before 2030. The satellites are named after a genus of owls, drawing inspiration from the birds' visual acuity.
Like their namesake, the Strix satellites' SAR antennas allow the spacecraft to collect Earth-observation data in every lighting condition (and also through cloud cover, which the birds can't quite match).
Each Strix satellite weighs about 220 pounds (100 kg), and stretches to 16.4 feet (5 meters) wide with its SAR antenna fully deployed. Each satellite has an on-orbit lifespan of about five years, according to Synspective's website.
The spacecraft cruise in LEO between 15 and45 degrees of inclination.
Electron will deliver the "Ten Owls of Ten" Strix to an inclination of 42 degrees, at a LEO altitude of 343 miles (552 kilometers).
Electron's second stage will separate about 2 minutes, 40 seconds after liftoff today, with the third or "kick" stage taking over about nine minutes into flight. Payload separation is expected about 45 minutes later, around T+1 hour after liftoff.

Watch a 'Potentially hazardous asteroid' the size of a skyscraper close in on Earth live online tonight
June 26, 2026
A giant asteroid roughly the size of a skyscraper will pass within seven lunar distances of Earth on June 27. Here's how to watch the rare flyby during two livestreams on June 26 and June 27.
How can I watch the flyby online?
The Virtual Telescope Project will host two YouTube livestreams starting at 7 p.m. EDT (2300 GMT) on June 26 and 27, before and after asteroid 1997 NC1's closest approach to Earth.
Each event will feature live views of the asteroid captured by a suite of robotic telescopes in Manciano, Italy, weather permitting.
"While this encounter is absolutely no cause for concern, it will be a very important and interesting opportunity," Virtual Telescope Project founder Gianluca Masi said in a press release sent to Space.com.
"An asteroid of this size comes this close roughly once every ten years, becoming bright enough to be easily visible through small telescopes while it crosses the starry sky."
The asteroid designated 152637 1997 NC1 will make its closest approach to Earth at 7:16 a.m. EDT (1116 GMT) on June 27, when it will pass 1,594,339 miles (2,565,839 kilometers) from our planet, whipping by at 19,879 mph (31,992 km/h), according to NASA.
With an estimated diameter of 1,443 feet (440 meters), 1997 NC1's size and potential to pass close to Earth during future orbits have led to it being designated as a potentially hazardous asteroid by NASA.
However, it will pose zero risk to our planet, or the moon during this week's flyby.
How can I see 1997 NC1 with my own telescope?
A pair of 10x50 binoculars or a small 4-inch telescope should be enough to reveal the asteroid as a point of light shifting through the stars of the constellation Ophiuchus on the night of the close approach, according to Masi.
1997 NC1 will reach a peak brightness, or magnitude of +10 at 8 p.m. EDT on June 27 (0000 GMT on June 28), marking an ideal time to observe the wandering asteroid.
Magnitude is the scale used by astronomers to measure the apparent brightness of an object in the night sky. The lower the number, the brighter the object!
The streams will occur shortly before World Asteroid Day — an annual United Nations-backed event held on June 30 to raise awareness of the threat posed by potential asteroid strikes.
The date was chosen to coincide with the anniversary of the Tunguska impact of 1908, when an asteroid exploded over Siberia, flattening millions of trees in an 830 square mile (2,148 sq km) area.

Space Command relocation fight returns to federal court
Jun. 25, 2026 at 8:54 PM PDT|Updated: 13 hours ago
The fight over the future home of U.S. Space Command is heading back to court.
The Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce is asking a federal judge for permission to weigh in on Colorado’s lawsuit challenging the Trump administration’s decision to move Space Command headquarters to Huntsville.
Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall also filed an amicus brief urging the U.S. District Court to dismiss Colorado’s lawsuit.
The relocation has been contentious across two administrations. President Trump picked Huntsville as the new home for Space Command in the final days of his first term.
President Biden canceled that order and decided to keep the headquarters in Colorado Springs. When Trump returned to the White House, he again declared Space Command should relocate to Redstone Arsenal.
There are currently two U.S. Space Command facilities on Redstone Arsenal. The permanent headquarters is set to break ground in late 2027.

Europe feels the heat beneath our feet
25/06/2026
An exceptional heatwave is affecting countries across western Europe, with cities and regions of France, Spain and southern Italy experiencing unseasonal temperatures.
This image of land surface temperature was captured by the Copernicus Sentinel-3 mission on Wednesday, 23 June. The data were captured in the late morning, local time.
You can watch a video about this image here.
The colours shown on the image range from purples and deep reds (indicating surface temperatures up to 55ºC, seen in parts of central Spain, western France and northern Africa) to light blues that indicate lower surface temperatures in mountainous regions.
Some areas were covered by cloud – shown in white.
The satellite sensed temperatures on land of 48ºC in Madrid, 44ºC in Rome and 46ºC in both Poitiers in France and Zaragoza in Spain.
The ground temperatures in northern Africa are visibly higher, with temperatures on the ground in Tunis reaching 49ºC. Because surfaces such as rock, sand and asphalt retain the heat, ground temperatures are considerably higher than air temperatures.
Sentinel-3 carries four instruments, including its Sea and Land Surface Temperature Radiometer (SLSTR) – a powerful and highly accurate sensor that measures temperatures over both land and sea.
It detects heat stress over land and its data are used in agriculture as well as monitoring urban heat islands and wildfires.
The current European heatwave is caused by an atmospheric pattern of persistent high pressure – a ‘heat dome’ – which is trapped over Europe between low pressure systems on each side.
Summer heat in Europe is not normally associated with El Niño and therefore, although satellite data have detected early signs of the El Niño phenomenon in the Pacific Ocean, it is not the driver behind the current temperatures in Europe.

Day 133, orbit 2063 — In this timelapse, I’m retrieving the fourth sample printed with the first 3D metal printer ever sent to space, ESA’s Metal 3D printer… and getting everything ready for the next printing session!
Before opening the printer, the procedure requires putting on safety goggles and a mask, just in case there are any floating nanoparticles.
3D printers are far from being simple gadgets. They aim at increasing crew autonomy, which will be even more crucial during future exploration missions, when resupply will be far more difficult than it is in low Earth orbit.
With 3D printing, we could manufacture spare parts 🔩 or tools 🔧 on demand!
On Earth, this printer weighs about 180 kg. In orbit, it weighs nothing – but its mass hasn’t disappeared. When I handled it, its inertia made it very clear that it is heavy 😉
Full disclosure: as often happens in extreme environments, emotions are heightened… I felt a huge sense of joy using this electric screwdriver, which we very rarely use onboard the ISS.
Since I love tinkering, it genuinely made me really, really happy 😃 haha! It reminded me of what I love doing back on Earth!

Russia stops record number of Ukrainian drones overnight – MOD
26 Jun, 2026 12:52 | Updated 26 Jun, 2026 13:55
The ministry reported the interception of 660 long-range kamikaze aircraft over eight hours
Russian air defenses stopped 660 Ukrainian kamikaze drones overnight, the military said on Friday.
The figure was the largest ever reported for the metric, reflecting an escalation of Western-funded strikes inside Russia.
The Russian Defense Ministry normally reports the total number of drone interceptions conducted between 10 PM and 7 AM Moscow time every day.
The previous record was 556 in mid-May, while earlier this month the Russian military downed 555 Ukrainian aircraft overnight. Other standout figures since 2025 were in the 300s.
Kiev is ramping up long-range strikes against energy infrastructure as Ukrainian frontline troops suffer setbacks caused by manpower shortages and Russian weapons superiority.
Ukrainian officials claim the economic damage will force Moscow to agree to a ceasefire along the current front line, and have threatened to withdraw the offer unless it is accepted soon.
Both sides are developing more affordable ways to intercept long-range drones, such as cheap interceptor aircraft, and are trying to protect their weapons from countermeasures.
Ukrainian operations are supported by Western funding, intelligence gathering, and an industrial base that supplies drone components.
Russia maintains that the pressure campaign will not make it abandon its key security goals in the conflict.
However, officials have suggested that Ukrainian military logistics in NATO states could be targeted in some way in response to the escalation of the drone war.

Ukraine Launches Major Series of Drone Strikes on Mainland Russia
26 Jun 2026
Russian air defenses intercepted 660 Ukrainian drones in a major nighttime attack on 12 Russian regions as well as the Russia-held Crimean peninsula, the Black Sea and the Azov Sea, Russia’s Defense Ministry said Friday.
It appeared to be one of the biggest drone attacks on Russia and the illegally annexed Crimea since Russia´s full-scale invasion of Ukraine more than four years ago. The previous biggest Ukrainian attack over the past year was 556 drones on May 17.
In an effort to turn the tables on Russia´s grinding war of attrition, Ukrainian long-range drones have for months been battering targets, including oil production and energy facilities, behind the front line and deep inside Russia.
The campaign has choked Russian fuel supplies and military deliveries, stalling Moscow’s efforts on the battlefield, Western officials and analysts say, and heaped pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Initial damage reports from Russia after the overnight attack provided scant information. Russia’s Defense Ministry usually doesn’t say what was targeted in Ukraine’s drone attacks, nor does it detail any damage.
Ukraine’s Security Service said it used drones to strike Russian navy ships and air defense radars in Kerch, an important port city in Crimea.
The targets were two reconnaissance and mine-laying ships, the Volga and the Vyatka, and the cargo-passenger ferry Petropavlovsk, the agency said, claiming that the strikes started a large fire. The claim could not be independently verified.
The major attack came hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on X that he had ordered “a 40-day influence operation,” believed to mean an escalation of attacks, aimed at “compelling (Russia) to end the war” after U.S. peace efforts over the past year yielded no breakthrough.
The successful strikes, including hitting targets in Moscow and St. Petersburg, have buoyed Ukraine.
1/2
Zelenskyy said he got further promises of foreign support when he attended a recent summit of G7 leaders, including from U.S. President Donald Trump, and that the promised aid will help Ukraine step up its effort to force Putin to the negotiating table.
A NATO summit next month could be another key moment in beefing up Ukraine’s military.
In the Tula region just south of Moscow, a private house was damaged by the attack and a woman was wounded, Tula Gov. Dmitry Milyaev said in an online statement, as reports of damage caused by the attack began to emerge.
He also said a power line was damaged and an unspecified industrial facility in the city of Novomoskovsk.
Russian independent online outlet Astra reported that a chemical plant and a hydroelectric plant in Novomoskovsk were attacked and caught fire. The Associated Press couldn´t independently verify the report, and there was no official confirmation.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin also reported that 47 Ukrainian drones were downed as they flew toward the Russian capital. He did not report any casualties or damage.
Two people were killed and seven others injured in Russian attacks on the northeastern Kharkiv region over the previous 24 hours, regional head Oleh Syniehubov said Friday.
Russian forces struck the city of Kharkiv and 16 other settlements across the region using guided aerial bombs and drones of various types, Syniehubov said.
Ukraine´s defenses overnight stopped 174 of 189 Russian drones, the Ukrainian air force said. However, four of seven Iskander-M ballistic missiles that were fired got through air defenses and struck various locations, it said.
Ukrainian officials reported damage to energy facilities, homes and other civilian infrastructure in the capital, Kyiv, the southern Odesa and Zaporizhzhia regions, and Sumy in the northeast. At least six people were wounded, according to authorities.
Russia is expanding several of its military sites deep inside Belarus, but there is no buildup of forces near the Ukrainian border, a State Border Guard Service spokesman said Friday.
Russia launched its 2022 invasion of Ukraine from Belarus, which borders both countries, and Kyiv has kept a close watch on developments there during the war.
Ukrainian intelligence units have detected no grouping or reinforcement of Russian units, equipment or personnel close to the border, spokesman Andrii Demchenko said in remarks to Ukrainian television.
However, Russia has a growing number of training grounds, bases and other sites deeper inside the country, according to intelligence units.

Iran said on Friday that a joint statement by the US and the Gulf Cooperation Council contained "interventionist, irresponsible and provocative positions," and said the US military presence in the Gulf was a source of insecurity and division in the region.
In the statement by Iran's foreign ministry, Iran also reiterated its position that the Strait of Hormuz should be governed with Oman in line with the terms of the MOU with the United States.

IDF braces for Gaza riots along ‘yellow line’ on Friday, Fatah uses social media to spread the word
Southern Command is preparing for violent demonstrations along Gaza’s yellow line Friday as Fatah campaigns against Hamas, conditions in the Gaza Strip, and postponed negotiations.
The IDF Southern Command is preparing for violent demonstrations and riots along the Gaza Strip’s Yellow Line this coming Friday, Walla. learned on Wednesday.
The preparations began after word spread in recent weeks that Arabic-language social media pages identified with Fatah had launched a campaign calling for protests against Hamas on Friday.
Various Palestinian spokesmen said the protest was focused on the harsh living conditions in the Gaza Strip, but also on the delay in advancing the second phase of the agreement, which includes rebuilding homes and infrastructure and ending the fighting, while placing the blame on Hamas’s leadership.

IAEA chief pushes for access to Iran despite Tehran’s limits on nuclear sites
IAEA chief said the current US-Iran deal requires access for UN nuclear inspectors, though Tehran insists that key sites will remain off-limits until a final deal is reached.
The interim US-Iran peace accord gives inspectors from the UN nuclear watchdog access to Iran, the agency's chief said on Friday, after Tehran indicated that key sites would remain off-limits until a final deal with Washington is reached and sanctions are lifted.
"There is an agreement and to comply with that agreement, the IAEA will have to have access and inspect," International Atomic Energy Agency Chief Rafael Grossi said at a news conference in Japan. "We hope to be there soon."

'Foolish violation': Trump accuses Iran of ceasefire breach after drone strike on cargo ship in Strait of Hormuz
June 26, 2026, 22:43:14 IST
US President Donald Trump on Friday accused Iran of violating the ceasefire agreement between Washington and Tehran after a cargo ship was struck by a drone in the Strait of Hormuz, though he stopped short of suggesting any immediate military response.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Iran launched multiple attack drones at commercial vessels passing through the strategic waterway, with one drone hitting a cargo ship.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran shot at least four One Way Attack Drones at Ships transversing the Strait of Hormuz. One of the Drones solidly hit the upper deck of a large and very expensive Cargo Carrying Ship,” Trump wrote.
He said the vessel suffered damage but was able to continue its journey.
“Damage was done, but the Ship was able to proceed on its way,” he said. “We knocked down three other Drones. Obviously, this is a foolish violation of our Ceasefire Agreement.”
Trump did not provide details on how the US intercepted the other drones and did not indicate whether Washington would take further action in response to the incident.
The reported strike took place a day before Trump’s comments and marks the first such incident since the US and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz and launching broader negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme.
The episode comes amid ongoing efforts by both sides to maintain a truce and advance diplomatic talks following months of heightened tensions in the region.

Federal Law Enforcement Veteran and Counter-Drone Pioneer Erik Modisett Dies at 50
June 26, 2026
Erik Modisett, a U.S. Navy veteran, longtime federal law enforcement professional, and a key figure in the development of the nation’s counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS) enterprise, passed away unexpectedly on June 3, 2026, at the age of 50.
Born on July 15, 1975, in Kokomo, Indiana, and raised in Windfall, Modisett graduated from Tri-Central High School in 1993 before earning a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management from Purdue University and a master’s degree in International Relations from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
His career in public service spanned nearly three decades. After serving in the U.S. Navy during Operation Desert Storm, Modisett joined the Federal Air Marshal Service before becoming a pilot with U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Air and Marine Operations.
Throughout his career, he earned a reputation for professionalism, integrity, and dedication to protecting the nation.
Within the homeland security community, Modisett played a significant role in helping establish the federal government’s counter-drone capabilities.
He was among the small group of professionals responsible for developing and implementing many of the policies, operational authorities, and capabilities that underpin the United States’ modern C-UAS framework.
His work contributed to counter-drone authority implementation across the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice, informed the President’s National Counter-UAS Action Plan, supported the development of the SAFER SKIES Act, and helped advance efforts to strengthen counter-drone capabilities for state, local, tribal, and territorial partners.
Modisett also founded and led the Center for Air and Marine Drone Exploitation (CAMDEx), DHS’s dedicated drone forensics laboratory, creating a capability designed to support investigations involving unmanned aircraft systems and strengthen the department’s technical expertise in drone exploitation.
Following his retirement from federal service, Modisett had recently accepted a position as Assistant Professor in Purdue University’s School of Applied and Creative Computing, where he was preparing to begin teaching his first students later this year.
Friends and colleagues also remembered his lifelong passion for aviation and travel. A licensed pilot, he visited six of the world’s seven continents while combining his love of flying with a career dedicated to national security.
His legacy spans military service, federal law enforcement, aviation, and the evolution of America’s counter-drone mission, while the capabilities he helped establish continue to support homeland security efforts across the country.

UFO transparency at the heart of Disclosure Forum
Updated: Jun 25, 2026 / 07:18 PM CDT
Lawmakers and whistleblowers continued a push for transparency on UFOs at Thursday’s Disclosure Forum, exploring the ways it could change the country and people’s lives.
The forum featured panel discussions on issues around UAPs, including the congressional push for transparency, national security implications and the economic and religious impact of sightings.
Missing scientists and disclosure
Speculation has swirled around possible connections between a number of missing and dead scientists, some of whom are said to have connections to UAP research.
Pippa Malgren noted that it seems unlikely that so many people would disappear under normal circumstances and that this could hinder disclosure and create uncertainty for financial markets.
Would disclosure crash the markets?
Panelists discussed the impact of UFO disclosure on the economy, rejecting the assertion that the markets would panic if evidence of extraterrestrial life were disclosed.
The impact of stigma on UAP investigation
Jennice Vilhauer noted that stigma about the subject of UFOs can limit people from coming forward with information, thus limiting investigation into UAPs.
It can also impact the responses and care people receive who have had UAP encounters, including medical care.
Psychological impact of disclosure will rely on institutional choices
Vilhauer noted that the psychological impact will depend on the trustworthiness of those providing information and how much confidence people have in the institutions releasing information.
Vilhauer noted that, according to survey data, most people do not perceive UAPs as relevant to their daily lives and do not think they are threatening.
Would the existence of aliens conflict with religion?
Regarding monotheistic religion, Carlos Eire examined the existence of extraterrestrial life and how it might intersect with religion.
The holy grail of UAP evidence
Harvard University astrophysicist Avi Loeb said evidence that could be used to prove whether UAPs are extraterrestrial in origin could include detailed satellite imagery and material that can be tested to determine whether it is of Earth origin.
The importance of scientific inquiry
“We should keep our eye on the orbs, not the audience,” Loeb said.
The audience he referred to was people speculating on the nature of UAPs as he emphasized the need for scientists to collect data and investigate before sharing findings with the public.
“If we have a neighbor, it will not depend on what people say about it on social media,” he said.
Loeb also said that if it turns out UAPs are human-made, scientific investigation will still be worthwhile because it will have helped answer the question.

Increasing UAP disclosure
Sen. Mike Rounds, R-S.D., announced that he and Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., are once again cosponsoring an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act that would increase executive branch disclosure on the subject of UAPs.
Rounds decried silos in government, including between congressional committees, that have complicated efforts.
How to filter through sightings and encounters?
Recently released UAP files revealed encounters with UAPs featuring law enforcement officers and intelligence personnel.
Those encounters are nearly identical to reports of “foo fighters” from World War II, Marik von Rennenkampff noted, suggesting that the release of those files is a form of “soft disclosure.” The same orbs were also seen in the 1952 D.C. UFO sightings.
Retired Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet said scientific inquiry is the best way to sort legitimate experiences from false or easily explained ones. He emphasized the need for academic institutions to get involved.
Need for more whistleblower protections
Panelists said whistleblower protections are inadequate and the stigma around the topic can harm those who speak out.
Those who disclose may risk their reputations, damage their future career options and their ability to support themselves.
Panelists noted there could be limits on the class of whistleblowers to prevent abuse and suggested the private sector could become involved in fundraising to compensate those who lose career opportunities by speaking out.
Is the world ready for the paradigm shift of encountering alien life?
McConnell suggested it’s unclear, comparing it to indigenous people who came into contact with colonizers and who came out on the worse end of the deal.
He also noted that there have been cases where people have united against a common enemy, while also noting that it assumes aliens would be aggressive.
McConnell said it’s also possible that aliens could be benevolent and come to help raise Earth’s consciousness.
Have UAPs acted aggressively to humans?
Mellon noted that the military has experienced radar jamming. He also referenced incidents in the 1950s where a military plane merged with a UAP on radar and never came back.
Gallaudet also referenced individuals who have encountered UAPs experiencing health problems.
What if our adversaries have UAP tech?
There are suggestions that other countries have recovered UAP technology.
“I don’t think we’re magically going to sing kumbaya once Trump or Xi or Putin announce the existence of nonhuman intelligence,” said former analyst Marik von Rennenkampff.
He noted there must be a discussion about what happens if the U.S. were to find out that Russia or China has advanced technology from UAPs.
Would government disclose UAP technology?
If UAPs are actually U.S. technology, or if the government has reverse engineered, experts say it could possibly be disclosed to deter other countries.
Does the government know what is going on with UAPs?
A question was raised of whether the government knows about UAPs and is keeping the public in the dark or if the government does not know very much about what is going on and is hiding its ignorance.
“When the United States government perceives something that is intentionally a threat, they don’t ignore it,” said former Senate staffer Kirk McConnell.
He noted that many efforts have been made by the government to investigate UAPs.
“Whether they’ve succeeded in unraveling what it is and how it works is another story,” he said.

‘Oceans aren’t as safe as we think’
Retired Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet stated that while America often feels secure because it is surrounded by oceans, there are frequent ocean sightings that indicate a national security threat from UAPs isn’t mitigated by ocean waters.
Luis Elizondo awarded Disclosure Award
Former Pentagon insider and whistleblower Luis Elizondo was awarded the Disclosure Award for his work.
Elizondo has spoken out about alleged Pentagon UFO programs and his work on the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, though the Pentagon has denied that he worked in that capacity.
Elizondo called the program “more history in the making,” noting that the topic has gained more serious consideration after decades of ridicule and stigma.
1952 DC UFO incident
One file lawmakers are seeking is a reel-to-reel recording of a discussion regarding the 1952 Washington, D.C., UFO incident.
In 1952, air traffic controllers in the capital reported multiple unexplained objects on radar near Andrews Air Force Base, which then spread out over the area. A week after the initial incident, more lights were seen.
When fighter jets were scrambled to respond, the lights reportedly disappeared when they got close and reappeared when they backed off.
The Air Force’s Project Blue Book investigated the sightings.
Call for images of UAPs
Lawmakers said that people with cell phone video or images of UAPs should come forward, noting that they want to see proof as much as anyone.
Rep. Eric Burlison said that lawmakers are being very specific in sending letters to agencies when requesting information.
He said people coming forward with specific information helps lawmakers narrow down requests for agencies and may lead to more files.
Tools for disclosure
Lawmakers expressed frustration at the difficulty of using tools at their disposal to get UAP information. One issue they addressed was pushback from Congressional staff blocking efforts.
Lawmakers seeking nonhuman craft and biologics
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna said there is a list of people who lawmakers want to be granted immunity by the White House in order to allow them to share information on potential recovered nonhuman craft or biologics.
“We are going to get them immunity and protection,” she said.
Luna said that she has not personally seen either of those things.
Rep. Eric Burlison stressed the need for people to be safe when stepping forward as whistleblowers, stressing the need for immunity and waiving non-disclosure agreements for anything regarding life outside of the Earth.
He also talked about digging into information that may be hidden in the private sector to avoid Congressional oversight.
Lawmakers frustrated over failure to produce documents
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna expressed frustration over the failure of agencies to disclose documents that lawmakers know exist. She stated that Congress has been told the files can’t be located.
Lawmakers awarded Disclosure Award
Reps. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., Eric Burlison, R-Mo., Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., and Andre Carson, D-Ind., were awarded the honor by the Disclosure Foundation for their work on UAP transparency.

NewsNation coverage of the Disclosure Forum
NewsNation’s Reality Check team is on site for the forum. Ross Coulthart will break down what happened and what we learned in a special episode of the show.
Americans can handle the truth
Keynote speaker Christopher Mellon cited polling about UAPs and stressed that most Americans are able to handle the truth of potential extraterrestrial work.
Because any recovered UAP technology would be gathered using U.S. tax dollars, Mellon stated that such technology belongs to the people and could propel our technological capabilities forward.
“It is wiser to prepare for the future than conceal it,” he said.
Progress in UAP disclosure
Opening the forum, Christopher Mellon, who served in the administrations of Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, noted that much progress has been made in discussing a subject surrounded by stigma.
What real-life UFO encounters inspired Disclosure Day?
However, Mellon still called out those in government for not being transparent about UAPs and raised questions about how much is known about these craft.
Mellon addressed incursions of unknown craft near sensitive locations with national security implications, including bases in the U.S. and ships and military installations abroad.
“The sooner we learn the truth the better, the better our chances of preparing for whatever comes next,” Mellon said.
He said he believes some of the craft are nonhuman in nature and transparency is critical.
“The American people have the right to know the truth on such an important issue,” he said.
Forum speakers
Speakers included well-known proponents of UAP disclosure, including Christopher Mellon, who served in the administrations of former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush; retired Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet, who has spoken out about UAP sightings; and Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb.
Multiple lawmakers attended, including Reps. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., Eric Burlison, R-Mo., Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., Suhas Subramanyam, D-Va., and Sen. Mike Rounds, R-SD.
Rising interest in UFOs
There has been a bipartisan push for UFO disclosure following claims from whistleblower David Grusch about secret Pentagon programs dedicated to retrieving and reverse engineering UFO technology.
Whistleblowers have said not only is the U.S. in possession of technology from crashed UFOs, the government is also in possession of nonhuman biological specimens.
Grusch’s testimony sparked congressional hearings on the subject and the rolling release of declassified UAP files by the U.S. government.
Skeptic on UAP panel? That’s fine, up to a point, Ross Coulthart says
Path to transparency
However, lawmakers remain frustrated over the lack of progress and have accused the Pentagon of compartmentalizing information and using private contractors to avoid congressional oversight.
The Pentagon has denied the existence of any secret UAP programs and said there is no evidence sightings are connected to extraterrestrial life.

'Where's the Alien?': Brazilian Psychic Blames 'Fake News' After UFOs Fail to Abduct Players at World Cup Match
26 June 2026, 12:38 PM BST
One psychic's alien nightmare became a global punchline, revealing just how eagerly the internet will believe almost anything until the whistle blows.
Brazilian psychic Vó Baiana has blamed 'fake news' and misinterpretation after her viral warning that an alien craft would descend on Brazil's World Cup match against Scotland on 24 June failed to materialise, leaving fans in both countries asking the same question: where was the alien she had foretold.
The 59‑year‑old medium, whose real name is Ana Tércia da Silva Gonçalves, shot to global attention days before the game when she went public with a recurring dream in which extraterrestrials and reptilian beings touched down and abducted players from Brazil's national team mid‑match.
The clip, shared widely on social media, sparked an explosion of AI‑generated images, conspiracy threads and breathless speculation that something otherworldly might interrupt Brazil's World Cup campaign.
In the end, the match in Scotland came and went with no UFOs, no reptilians and no players beamed into the sky. Speaking afterwards on Brazilian programme Central Splash, Vó Baiana set about trying to clean up the mess.
'I'm against fake news and misinformation,' she said in Portuguese, insisting that she never guaranteed an alien invasion and had simply described a vivid, unsettling dream. 'Anyone who watched my video will see that I said, 'Guys, I had a dream.''
She said the intensity of that dream, and the fact she had it twice, prompted her to share it more urgently than she usually might. 'When I dreamed it the second time, it felt very real,' she explained.
'I got scared because it was the second time I was having the same dream, and the second one was more intense.'
Alien Hype, Online Chaos And A Psychic Under Siege
According to Vó Baiana, the crucial nuance that it was a dream, not a firm prediction, was stripped away as the alien story jumped from Brazilian TikTok to English‑language X threads and WhatsApp forwards around the world.
By the time the World Cup fixture kicked off, she had become the accidental face of a global UFO countdown.
'At no point did I say it was guaranteed,' she told Central Splash, clearly frustrated at how her words had been reframed.
It made little difference. In the days around the match, she says her phone was overwhelmed by calls and messages from strangers who had fully bought into the alien narrative.
'They crashed my phone,' she said. 'People kept calling and messaging, saying, Grandma, haven't they arrived yet? Where's the alien?'
1/2
The nickname 'Grandma' is one she leans into online, but the affection did not always survive the punchline.
Once it was clear that no craft had appeared over the stadium and no Brazilian star had been plucked off the pitch, mockery followed quickly. Vó Baiana found herself turned into reaction memes and running jokes across platforms.
Oddly, she admits there was something almost moving about the sheer scale of the shared fixation.
'On one hand, it was bad, but on the other, I saw incredible unity from people around the world,' she reflected. 'Everyone was talking about it.'
That warmth sat alongside something far uglier. The psychic says that as her alien dream ricocheted around the internet, ridicule bled into outright abuse.
'It wasn't only positive,' she said. 'There was a very negative side too.' She describes harassment, insults and waves of hostility from sceptics who saw her as either deluded or deliberately misleading.
Nothing in the available reporting suggests authorities ever treated the alien talk as anything more than online noise, and no official body has commented on her claims.
Nothing is confirmed about any alleged extraterrestrial link, so all of it should be taken with a grain of salt.
From Alien Abductions To World Cup Predictions
If the failed alien arrival dented her reputation among some viewers, it has not dampened her appetite for prophecy.
After the match, Vó Baiana used Instagram to suggest that something unusual had still happened on 24 June, even if it took a different form to the one the internet was waiting for.
'At the time the game was happening, there were also 10 earthquakes at the same time, right?' she said in a Story, pointing to seismic activity she linked, at least thematically, to the date of her alien dream.
'On the 24th.' The article that relayed her comments noted that available reports referred instead to four earthquakes on that date, not ten, underlining how slippery the numbers around her claims can be.
During the same Central Splash interview, she pivoted away from outer space and back to the turf. Turning to the World Cup itself, Vó Baiana offered a set of more traditional football predictions.
She said she sees Brazil progressing as far as the quarter‑finals but not lifting the trophy this year. In her view, France, Spain and England are better placed to win the tournament, while she does not foresee Argentina or Portugal taking the title either.
It is hardly the most outlandish forecast compared with alien abductions during a live match, yet she frames it with the same confident intuition. None of these sporting predictions has been confirmed by events, and football, as ever, has its own ideas.
Vó Baiana's longer‑term vision for Brazilian football is more optimistic.
Over the next eight years, she believes, the national side will be 'reborn,' powered by a new generation of talent. At the centre of that rebirth, she places teenage forward Endrick, describing him as a future 'second Pelé.'
Whether fans believe in alien warnings or not, that is the kind of prophecy many in Brazil would be delighted to see come true.

Smoking out the opposition: Sen. Rounds plans to use UAPDA to "find out who will object to it"
Jun 26, 2026
Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD) — lead sponsor, UAP Disclosure Act
Ask a Pol asks:
Any timeline — or blueprint for passage — for your UAP Disclosure Act with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer this year?
Key Rounds:
“Well, we’re going to introduce it. Put it as an amendment on the NDAA [National Defense Authorization Act]. Hopefully, the Senate will agree with us to do so.
And if that’s the case, then the next step is going with the House and seeing if they would agree to some format of it,” Sen. Mike Rounds exclusively tells Ask a Pol UAP. “I presume they’ll have concerns like they did last time.”
“Yeah?”
“Hopefully, we’ll be able to allay some of those concerns or work through those concerns,” Rounds says.
“So you’re convinced the concerns are with the House?” Ask a Pol founder Matt Laslo pushes. “I still haven’t been able to find the voice of opposition.”
“Well, this is one way to find out — offer it again and then find out who will object to it,” Rounds says. “And it’ll be interesting to see whether or not the House has any provisions along the same line as our proposal, and if there is, then we’ll have a stronger case for putting it in the final version.”
Special Access Programs I
Have you all still been looking for or found where these SAPs — Special Access Programs — are that whistleblower David Grusch alleges are hidden from Congress?
“It’s not so much that it’s hidden, it’s just a matter of the silos do exist,” Rounds says. “You may have the folks who are members of the armed services who might not know what the IC — the intelligence community — is actually doing.”
Special Access Programs II
We’ve been seeing the Pentagon release formerly classified UFO files but nothing from the Department of Energy or contractors, does the White House even know where to look?
“I can’t tell you why. Just that is the executive branch. And we’re getting more than we ever did before,” Rounds says.
“So, step in the right direction. And maybe as they gain more confidence that the American public really want to see it, maybe we’ll see more of it in the future.”
Caught our ear:
“It kind of represents the curiosity that’s natural for Americans. When we see something and we’ve got a curiosity, we want to get it satisfied.
And that’s neat,” Rounds tells us of the growing interest in UFOs both inside and outside of Congress.

The Untold Story of How the Air Force Tried to Debunk UFOs at CU Boulder
June 26, 2026
The mystery of unidentified flying objects has captivated the human imagination for generations.
While many associate the search for extraterrestrial life with secretive government bases or remote desert locations, a quiet academic hub played a starring role in the history of American ufology.
Long before the modern era of government transparency and viral footage, the University of Colorado Boulder became the epicenter of a massive, government funded investigation that sought to answer the ultimate question: are we alone in the universe?
A Legacy of Suspicion and Panic
Humanity has spent centuries gazing at the night sky in search of meaning. Yet, the modern obsession with alien visitors truly solidified in the twentieth century.
In 1938, the legendary broadcaster Orson Welles sent the nation into a spiral of panic with his radio adaptation of The War of the Worlds.
By describing an alien invasion in graphic detail, he inadvertently revealed how deeply embedded the fear of unknown visitors had become in the American psyche.
Even though the program was clearly labeled as science fiction, thousands of listeners were convinced that Earth was under attack by beings from another world.
This cultural anxiety found a new target in the late 1940s. On July 8, 1947, the Daily Camera began documenting a series of reports from residents across Boulder County.
Citizens described brilliant, erratic objects dancing through the night sky. Many of these accounts included sightings of pulsating red lights and unnatural flight patterns.
These local reports were fueled by the national headlines coming out of Roswell, New Mexico, where rumors of a captured flying saucer had captured the country's attention.
The View from the Front Range
The local accounts in Boulder provided a personal look at the phenomenon. One resident, Mrs. Ernestine Pettengill, reported a sighting on a Monday night in 1947 while walking near the intersection of 15th and Grove streets.
She described an object that was flat and round with a blue center and a bright white edge. Like many skeptics of the era, she admitted that she had dismissed the talk of flying discs entirely until she witnessed one with her own eyes.
The sightings did not stop as the decades passed. In 1960, a Boulder County resident named Ray Hawks experienced a chilling encounter while working on his tractor in Left Hand Canyon.
Hawks reported that a saucer hovered above his position for fifteen minutes. During the event, his equipment failed, and the object emitted a strange humming noise and a plume of blue smoke.
This encounter transformed Hawks from a cynical skeptic into a true believer, forever shaken by his brush with the unknown.
The Condon Committee and the Quest for Answers
By 1966, the frequency of these reports became too loud for the United States Air Force to ignore. They commissioned a formal, scientific investigation to be hosted by the University of Colorado Boulder.
The project was led by the distinguished astrophysicist Dr. Edward U. Condon. The primary goal was simple: to determine through empirical data whether UFOs represented a genuine extraterrestrial threat or if they could be explained by conventional means.
The project became a lightning rod for controversy. Some media outlets were deeply critical of the approach taken by the research team.
A 1967 article in Look magazine suggested that the conflict had turned into a religious war, placing believers and skeptics in direct opposition while leaving little room for those who simply wanted the truth.
1/2
In 1968, the final report, titled Scientific Study of Unidentified Flying Objects, was released to the public. Dr. Condon was blunt in his assessment.
He concluded that nothing learned during the previous twenty one years of UFO research had contributed in any meaningful way to scientific knowledge.
The study was quickly branded a fiasco by UFO enthusiasts who felt that the researchers were biased and unwilling to consider the evidence that did not fit their narrow parameters.
A Local Investigator on a Cosmic Mission
While the academic world debated the Condon report, other figures in Boulder took a different approach to the mystery. Richard Sigismond, a social scientist and dedicated ufologist, spent years interviewing witnesses and investigating claims of alien contact. As a senior investigator with the Center for UFO Studies, Sigismond took his work seriously. He frequently traveled to sites of alleged sightings and even used hypnosis to help individuals process memories of supposed abductions.
Sigismond never claimed to have met an alien, but he maintained a deep sense of respect for the possibility of extraterrestrial life. He often spoke about his awe regarding the advanced physics these beings might possess, suggesting they were capable of feats that humanity had not yet even dreamed of. He remained a fixture in the community until his passing in 2018.
Looking Toward the Future
Today, the discussion has shifted from the term UFO to Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, or UAPs. The Department of Defense continues to study these sightings, and public interest remains at an all time high.
While the era of the Condon Committee is now part of the history books, the questions it raised are still relevant.
As we continue to scan the horizon and interpret the data provided by our sensors, the truth about what is flying in our skies remains one of the most enduring mysteries of our time.
Whether the answers lie in advanced technology, natural phenomena, or something far more exotic, one thing is certain: the conversation is far from over.

🚨 THEY ISSUED A WARNING 27 MINUTES BEFORE THE VENEZUELA EARTHQUAKES — SO HOW DID THEY KNOW?
Twenty seven minutes before the twin earthquakes struck Venezuela, the Solar System Geometry Survey reportedly issued a warning.
Then the earthquakes hit.
For decades the public has been told that earthquakes cannot be predicted.
Not days in advance.
Not hours in advance.
Not even minutes in advance.
That's the position long echoed by major scientific institutions, including NASA, which has stated that scientists do not currently know how to reliably predict earthquakes.
Which is why this timing is getting so much attention.
People are now pointing out that a warning appeared before the earthquakes occurred.
The project reportedly studies planetary alignments and long term seismic patterns.
Others argue the timing was nothing more than a coincidence.
But for many people online, the bigger question is simple:
If earthquakes can't be predicted, how did a warning appear 27 minutes before Venezuela shook?
Lucky guess… or something else?
