John Bolton Pleads Guilty In Classified Documents Case

Derek VanBuskirk

June 26, 2026 10:45 AM ET

Former National Security Adviser John Bolton pleaded guilty on Friday to one count of retention of classified documents.

The guilty plea is part of a deal struck by Bolton, who served a stint as National Security Advisor during President Donald Trump’s first term, with the Department of Justice (DOJ), according to The Washington Post.As part of the deal, Bolton will pay a $2.25 million fine and could face up to 5 years in prison.

In October 2025, Bolton was indicted by a federal grand jury on 18 counts of transmitting national defense information and unlawfully retaining classified documents.

The plea deal, whose draft came to light in early June, was approved by U.S. District Judge Theodore D. Chuang at a change-of-plea hearing in a Maryland federal court, according to The Washington Post.

When asked if he was indeed guilty of the charge, Bolton replied: “I am your honor, and I’m sorry for it,”The Post reported.

A federal indictment had accused Bolton of using hispersonal email to share “more than a thousand pages of information about his day-to-day activities.” However, the former national security advisor pleaded guilty to a different charge.

Bolton is set to be sentenced on Oct. 28.

Bolton, who served under Trump during his first administration, had been a vocal supporter of the president in the beginning and was reportedly considered for secretary of state. However, Bolton was instead chosen to be Trump’s third national security adviser in 2018.

He would end up leaving the position a little under a year and a half later after clashes with Trump during his service led to a falling out.

During his announcement of Bolton’s exit from the position in September 2019, Trump said, “I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House.”

“I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions, as did others in the Administration, and therefore I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning,” Trump added. “I thank John very much for his service.”

The foreign policy hawk often found himself in conflict with the goals of Trump, leading to severe disagreements, including Bolton’s reported attempt to derail a Camp David meeting and potential agreement with the Taliban, the New York Times reported.

Prosecutors claimed he had “diary-like” handwritten notes, according to the Post. The indictment accused him of sharing Top Secret material with two unauthorized individuals. A cyber actor was also to have connections with the Islamic Republic of Iran was able to hack Bolton’s email, securing access to sensitive information, according to the court documents.

EXCLUSIVE: Greg Abbott Campaign Trolls ‘Radical’ Democrat Convention

6/26/26

Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s campaign unleashed a series of stunts to counter program the Texas Democratic Convention on Friday.

Abbott’s campaign went after Democrats and their “radical” policy agenda, featuring taco menus that mock their political track record anddistributing “missing” milk cartoons depicting failed Democratic Senate candidate Jasmine Crockett.

The spectacle will also feature a live bull draped in a sign that reads, “Don’t buy the bull.”

The campaign is kicking things off with the “Talarico’s Tacos” truck serving real tacos with menu items like “open border brisket” and“veggie Talarico.” Attendees who order a “Democrat promises” taco will be served an empty tortilla.

Another part of the Abbott campaign stunts includes the Crockett milk cartoon, taking a jab at the congresswomanwith a line that reads, “If found, do not return.”

A billboard campaign will also be displayed outside the convention, depicting the policies of progressive keynote speakers like New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Texas Senate nominee James Talarico, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The billboards also list Democrat policies like open borders, high taxes, and the protection of transgender players in women’s sports, followed by the line, “Good luck with that!”

To top it all off, the campaignwill have a mobile billboard with a QR code outside the convention, taking users to a websitewith a ten minute compilation of “radical Democrats” as well as an in-depth breakdown of their policy track record.

“The Texas Democrat Convention is nothing more than a rebranding exercise for a party whose toxic agenda has no place in Texas••,” campaign press secretary Eduardo Leal told the Daily Caller. “Democrats can change their messaging, but they can’t hide from their record of supporting open borders, defunding the police, and pushing anti-energy policies that threaten Texas jobs. Governor Abbott’s campaign will expose the Democrats for what they are — frauds.”==

Netanyahu Admits He Dragged The US Into Day War 6/5/26 1/2

Israeli Prime Minister BenjaminNetanyahu admitted that he never asked President Donald Trump for permission before launchingthe first round of strikes on Iran in 2025, according to The Times of Israel.

Netanyahu said that he never asked Trump or the U.S. government about his planned strikes on Iran during the outbreak of the first round of bombing on Iran known as the 12-Day War, The Times of Israel reported, citing a translation of aspeech he gave in Hebrew at the Muni Expo conference in Tel Aviv on Wednesday. The new development emerges as the Iran War-stays temporarily paused under a fragile 60-day ceasefire, with no formal peace deal officially signed between the U.S. and Iran.

“I am not going to let that happen. And that is why we are acting. I did not ask for permission. I simply informed him of our plan,” The Times of Israel reported, citing Netanyahu’s speech on Wednesday. “I was pleased that he (Trump) ultimately joined in toward the end of this very important action.”

Netanyahu’s comments cast fresh light on what Marco Rubio initially suggestedto the press in March when this year’s U.S.-Israeli campaign began.

“We knew that there was going to be an Israeli action. We knew that that would precipitate an attack against American forces,” Rubio told reporters on March 2. “If we didn’t preemptively go after them before they launched those attacks, we would suffer higher casualties. This had to happen, no matter what.”

Rubio clarified the comment a day later, telling reporters the president “made a decision to go first because he concluded we were not gonna get hit first.”

“President Trump has a strong relationship with Prime Minister Netanyahu, and Israel has always been a great ally to the United States. There has been no greater friend to Israel and a fighter for peace than President Trump,” a White House official told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “The Israel Defense Forces were incredible partners in obliterating Iran’s nuclear facilities with Operation Midnight Hammer and decimating Iran’s military capabilities with Operation Epic Fury.Americans and our allies around the world are safer for the United States and Israel’s bold actions to deny the Iranian regime the ability to develop a nuclear weapon.”

We are going into Iran, because I am not going to sit around waiting for our enemies – enemies who openly declare, at the top of their lungs, that they want to destroy us, and you [America] too, by the way,” The Times of Israel reported, citing Netanyahu’s speech.

The Pentagon, the Israeli Embassy in Washington and the Office of the Israeli Prime Minister did not respond to a request for comment. The State Department referred to the White House.

Top Israeli government officials and academics have grown more critical of America as the U.S. government works to secure a final peace deal with Iran.

Israeli defense researcher Beni Sabti saidthe U.S. might need to suffer through an attack to renew U.S. support for Israel and remind Americans who their alliesare in an X post on Saturday.

“Maybe USA needs another Pearl Harbor or 9/11 to remember who is the enemy and who is the friend,”Sabti wrote on X, before retracting the statement….

Donald J. Trump is the only head of state in the entire world who is sympathetic to the nation of Israel at this moment in time, and he happens to be the head of state of the world’s superpower,”

Vance said on June 18 during a White House press briefing.“If I was in the cabinet of the Israeli government, I might not be attacking the only powerful ally that I have anywhere left in the entire world.”

Trump has also spoken about recent Israeli military action in Lebanon.

“You can do a little softer touch, Bibi,” Trump said on June 17 at the G7 summit. “I’m saying, when two drones are shot into the desert and dropped harmlessly, you don’t have to knock down buildings in Beirut.”

“They [Israel] could behave better,” Trump said at the G7 summit. “But they could do a much better job with Hezbollah. On that, I don’t think they’re doing well, and I feel very bad for Lebanon.”

Israel recently renewed its military campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon, just a few hours after a ceasefire had taken effect on June 20,Reuters reported, citing Lebanese Civil Defense.

Iran claimed the Israeli strikes violated the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the United States and Iran, which calls for an immediate halt to hostilities between Iran, Lebanon, the United States and U.S. allies.

“The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran and their allies in the current war, by signing this MOU, declare the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon,” the beginning of the MOU reads. “The final deal will confirm the permanent termination of the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon and other provisions of this paragraph.”

Netanyahu has signaled that Israel does not view a U.S.-Iran agreement as ending its campaign, saying, “With an agreement, without an agreement, Iran will not have nuclear weapons. Not today, and not tomorrow,” according to a June 15 X postfrom the Israeli prime minister’s office. (Guaranteed Israel will start a nuclear war with Iran, if Iran has any bombs or don’t have any, but it doesn’t matter, they’ll go far beyond what they’ve already done.)

“Israel wants to attack Hezbollah, and they also are happy to screw up the ceasefire,” ccDefense Priorities Policy Director Benjamin Friedman previously told the DCNF. “They pushed us into the war, and they want us to continue it, even if it tanks the global economy.”

Paris ApodacaJune 25, 2026

The LincolnMemorial’s hidden 15,000-square-foot chamber opens to the public Thursday after a century-long closure.

The chamber — located beneath the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall — had sat vacant since the 1920s akin to a “two-story shopping mall” with 122 giant concrete pillars, according to Fox News.

The memorial’s undercroft features interactive exhibits, construction tools left in 1920 and preserved vandalism from the original construction, the outlet reported.

The Lincoln Memorial Undercroft opens tomorrow, unveiling a space hidden beneath one of America’s most iconic landmarks since 1922. 🎉

Among theartifacts in the undercroft exhibit are original copies of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 13th Amendment bearing President Abraham Lincoln’s signature, according to Fox News. The new construction project was funded with $26 million of federal fundsand $48 million from the National ParkFoundation.

“Beyond its physical foundations, the undercroft tells the story of how the Lincoln Memorial evolved into America’s ‘civic stage,'” Moore told Fox News.

The opening of the undercroft follows President Donald Trump’s sweeping renovations to the memorial’s iconic Reflecting Pool and the ensuing peeling paint and pro-algae protests.

NATO member admits ‘no evidence’ for Russian drone hysteria

A nine-month investigation in Denmark has failed to prove that reported flying objects were actually drones

26 Jun, 2026 14

Danish police say they have found no evidence that flying objects which shut down Copenhagen Airport last year were drones, concluding a nine-month investigation into an incident initially treated as an alleged Russian attack.

Danish airports repeatedly suspended flights in September 2025 after reports of suspected drones near the airfields. Copenhagen Airport was forced to halt operations for several hours after objects were reported flying near the runway, disrupting commercial air traffic and triggering a major police investigation.

At the time, Danish authorities claimed Russia may have been behind the incidents, despite presenting no evidence. In May, Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin said Copenhagen had failed to produce any proof that drones had entered Danish airspace during the alleged incursions.

Police said on Thursday they could neither prove nor disprove that drones had been operating in the vicinity of Copenhagen Airport. “We cannot demonstrate that there was drone activity in and around the airport,” Chief Police Soren Thomassen told reporters. No suspects were identified and the investigation has been closed, he said.

According to Thomassen, there was unexplained activity in the airspace that evening, but none of the evidence gathered over nine months conclusively showed the objects were drones.

Police said they had reviewed witness statements, photographs, videos, CCTV footage, radar data, and extensive records of air and maritime traffic. Despite the exhaustive inquiry, investigators were unable to establish what the objects were.

One radar detected an object traveling at around 100 kph over the Oresund Strait. However, Dutch manufacturer Robin Radar later told investigators that the bird radar installed at Copenhagen Airport was not designed to detect drones.

Danish officials claimed the alleged drone flights were carried out by a “skilled operator.” Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen later escalated the rhetoric, calling the incident a “hybrid attack on critical Danish infrastructure.”

The case had begun to unravel long before Thursday’s announcement. Within hours of the airport shutdown, open-source investigators concluded that a widely circulated video appeared to show a training aircraft rather than a drone, according to Dronewatch portal. An internal memo later reportedly revealed that air traffic controllers had not observed any drones during the incident, while police acknowledged in March that the credibility of a key witness had come under scrutiny.

Earlier this week, investigators also said the first completed police probes into other alleged drone sightings reported across Denmark in the autumn of 2025 had likewise found no evidence of hostile or unauthorized drone activity.

Key EU states oppose travel ban for Russian veterans – Bloomberg

France and Italy reportedly fear that the measure proposed byBrussels could become a blanket restriction on all Russian citizens

Published 26 Jun, 2026 11:15

France and Italy have pushed back against an EU proposal to ban Russian servicemen and veterans from entering the bloc, warning that the measure is legally unclear and difficult to enforce, Bloomberg has reported, citing diplomatic sources.

Moscow has denounced the proposal as “paranoid,” while critics inside the EU reportedly fear it could morph into a broader entry ban on Russian citizens and affect more than 1.3 million people, including conscripts that did not participate in the conflict.

The restriction is being discussed as part of the EU’s proposed 21st sanctions package over the Ukraine conflict. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has said the bloc should bar Russians who have served in the military since February 2022, framing it as a security issue.

Paris and Rome, however, have argued that the current wording is too broad and that the measure should be handled through visa policy rather than sanctions, according to Bloomberg’s anonymous sources.

The two countries have questioned how the ban would work in practice, since national authorities would have to somehow determine whether individual Russian applicants had served in the military or taken part in the fighting in Ukraine.

France and Italy process some of the highest numbers of Russian arrivals in the EU. Euronews reported that France recorded just under 180,000 arrivals from Russia in 2025, while Italy had around 160,000.

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has claimed that Brussels has intelligence on all Russians who have participated in the conflict and could blacklist them by name. Asked earlier this month how the ban would be implemented, she said: “I am not an expert, but experts say it is possible.”

The dispute comes as the EU struggles to finalize another sanctions package targeting Russia’s energy, finance, trade, and shipping sectors. The package faces disagreements over the Russian oil price cap, restrictions on LNG-linked ‘shadow fleet’ vessels, fish imports, critical minerals, and third-country companies accused of helping Moscow obtain restricted goods.

Several EU governments have increasingly questioned whether more sanctions are practical or risk hurting member states more than Russia. Bulgaria recently warned Brussels against measures that are mostly symbolic or damaging to EU economies, while Slovakia and Hungary have repeatedly called for restoring dialogue with Moscow.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said the proposedtravel ban shows that EU officials “do not know what else to invent.” She described the measure as “openly paranoid” and said the bloc’s sanctions policy is increasingly harming third countries as well as Europeans themselves.

Denmark proposes ending protection for Ukrainians fleeing draft

Copenhagen plans to stop granting emergency residence permits to military-age men fleeing the country

Published 26 Jun, 2026 02:27 |

The Danish government has proposed stripping military-age Ukrainians of refugee protections in an effort to help Kiev combat draft dodging.

Ukrainian men aged 25 to 60 are subject to mobilization, while nearly all men aged 22 to 60 are barred from leaving the country.

The Danish authorities want to amend a special law passed in 2022 to make Ukrainian men aged 23 to 60 ineligible for temporary residence permits unless they have been granted an exemption from military service. Ukrainian men under 23 would only be granted residence permits until they reach draft age.

Denmark stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine in its fight for freedom. That is why we are now changing the Ukraine Special Act, because it was never intended for our residence rules to be used to avoid mobilization into the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Doing so undermines Ukraine’s war effort and weakens the country’s ability to defend itself against Russian attacks,” Danish Immigration Minister Morten Bodskov said on Thursday.

As of May 2026, around 47,600 Ukrainians living in Denmark had been granted residence permits under the Ukraine Special Act, Bodskov said.

Ukraine has struggled to replenish losses as Russian troops continue to advance steadily along the front line. The so-called “busification” campaign, in which draft officers ambush men on the streets and outside their homes and use violence against those who resist, has regularly sparked protests and outrage on social media. Some recruits and their families have accused officials of ignoring medical conditions and using torture in enlistment offices.

The conscription crisis has prompted several of Ukraine’s European backers to review their asylum laws. Earlier this year, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz vowed to restrict protections for Ukrainians, arguing that young men were needed in their home country.

Several news outlets reported last week that the European Commission had urged EU member states to introduce restrictions on accepting Ukrainian refugees.

Public support for Ukrainians living in Poland has been declining, as the two neighbors are currently feuding over Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky’s decision to honor World War II-era nationalist militias responsible for massacring Polish civilians.

(All of these countries know Ukraine is losing the war, so they are basically trying to send Ukraine citizens, back to be killed in the war Ukraine is losing.)

TGP EXCLUSIVE: “It’s Not Political. It’s Just Science” – Greenwater Services Spox Explains How Their Company is Killing Algae in the Reflecting Pool as Democrats Lose It 1/2

by Jordan Conradson Jun. 25, 2026 7:00 p

The algae in the Reflecting Pool has been almost completely removed despite liberal activists’ best efforts to impede the removal of algae and destroy the pool’s renovations.

Greenwater Services was contracted in April by theDepartment of the Interior for the “procurement and installation of a fully integrated Nano Bubble Filtration System designed to replace the existing, failing filtration infrastructure at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.”

But the company has come under fire from left-wing media outlets, who claim a conflict of interest because a part-owner of the company is a GOP donor, and that the company has a lack of expertise in filtration systems.

During a recent appearance on CNN, Democratic strategist Ameshia Cross clashed with CNN contributor Scott Jennings over the project. Cross went off, attacking Trump over the algae in the stagnant Reflecting Pool and the choice of contractor, claiming that Trump “flushed our money down the drain and continues to do so.”

“This guy chose someone who didn’t even have a background in it, in the beautification he sought to begin with,” Cross said, crediting Trump for the Department of the Interior’s choice to hire Greenwater Services. “This is somebody who he knew personally because of his Mar-a-Lago connections, but not someone who was able to do exactly what anybody else– I worked at the EPA, knew that algae was going to come. You don’t necessarily have to be a science-minded person to know what was going to happen.”

However, in an exclusive interview with The Gateway Pundit on Wednesday,Greenwater Services spokeswoman Erin Kramer explained how they've turned the algae-infested pool into crystal clear water.

Photos taken on Wednesday show the water is completely free of algae in most places. However, large portions of the bottom have been ripped out, and several people have been arrested for the destruction since last week.

The company, she said, is using "cutting-edge" ozone treatment technology, backed by research from Ohio State University and environmental journals, to pump ozone (O₃) "nano bubbles" throughout the water. "Those go throughout the whole water column, and as they burst, which is natural, it kills the algae, andthen the sediment floats to the bottom, so it leaves behind crystal clear water with only oxygen as the byproduct," Kramer said.

"So, you're actually adding oxygen to the water, which is great, so that's why you can see the bottom of the pool really well, and what you see on the bottom is the sediment," she continued. "If we were doing this in a river or a lake, it would get reabsorbed into the environment. Here, it can get vacuumed up, but that's what you see happening here today."

Kramer further likened it to a "fish bubbler on steroids."

She also responded to allegations that wildlife is being killed by the algae removal after an image of a dead duckling in the pool went viral across the internet recently. TMZ claims, "A dead duck was found floating in the Reflecting Pool Sunday …days after workers were seen dumping hydrogen peroxide into the water." Of course, Hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) is a common pool treatment, with just one more oxygen atom than pure water (H₂O).

Kramer assured us that the process is "completely chemical-free" and "does not create an environment that would hurt wildlife." In fact, "Most of our work is done in nature. Most of our work is done in rivers and lakes, and it can be done in ponds," she said. "So, it is meant to be very environmentally sustainable."

Moments later, we saw a mother duck and her brood completely healthy in the water.

"It's a really new technology, but it's being used, as I mentioned, in different environments across the country, and to me, what this means for this historic landmark is you're really putting in some very cutting-edge environmental technology here," Kramer added. "And it's not political, it's just science."

One would think the liberal environmentalist crowd would be thrilled to see this technology being used, but they're losing it!

Transcript:

Conradson: Tell us a little bit about what your company's doing here at the Reflecting Pool, and how this project's going.

Kramer: So, we came in to remediate the algae, which you know has been a long-time problem. What the technology does is we use an ozone treatment technology, so it takes regular o2, we turn it into o3, it gets pumped into the pool. That ozone there in the little nano-bubbles that you've probably heard about, because they're nano bubbles, those go throughout the whole water column, and as they burst, which is natural, it kills the algae, and then the sediment floats to the bottom, so it leaves behind crystal clear water with only oxygen as the byproduct.

So, you're actually adding oxygen to the water, which is great, so that's why you can see the bottom of the pool really well, and what you see on the bottom is the sediment. And so, if we were doing this in a river or a lake, it would get reabsorbed into the environment. Here, it can get vacuumed up, but that's what you see happening here today.

Conradson: It's completely clear. I’m not seeing any algae floating around. What has the issue been with algae? Because I'm, I'm reading reports, I'm seeing CNN nightly broadcasts where they're talking about, “Oh, the pool is full of algae, it's disgusting, Trump failed the job.” What's actually going on?

Kramer:I think first of all, you need up to date pictures. I think anyone who comes to the pool today sees how clear it looks. The most important thing is that the system continues to run, so if it stops, algae will grow back, and then you will just need to continue pumping the ozone infused water in, so it's really very simple. We are just about done putting up the permanent structure, and the only thing you need to do this, besides the technology, is air. It's that simple!

Conradson: Yeah, another thing I'm hearing is something about carbon dioxide or some kind of chemicals being put in the water. Is that true?

Kramer:You don't need any chemicals in this process. It is the most effective way to do this. It's completely chemical-free, and as I mentioned, the only byproduct is oxygen.

Conradson: They're freaking out because a duck was found dead in the pool. I didn't know that ducks could die in the wild. What happened there? Could that have been caused by you guys?

Kramer: So, I don't know anything about the duck situation. All I can say is our process, by releasing only oxygen, does not create an environment that would hurt wildlife. Most of our work is done in nature. Most of our work is done in rivers and lakes, and it can be done in ponds. So it is meant to be very environmentally sustainable.

We've been doing this for six or seven years. It's a really new technology, but it's being used, as I mentioned, in different environments across the country, and to me, what this means for this historic landmark is you're really putting in some very cutting-edge environmental technology here. And it's not political, it's just science. And thank you for giving me the opportunity to actually talk about it.

Five Years After the COVID-19 Shot Mandate Destroyed His Career, Former U.S. Space Force Officer Returns to Duty. 1/2

By J.M. Phelps Jun. 26, 2026

After almostfive years of grappling with the consequences of his objection to the military’s 2021 COVID-19 shot mandate, a former Space Force officer had his career reinstated on Friday.

The Gateway Pundit spoke toJoshua Zermeno, a military officerwho dedicated a significant portion ofhis 13-year career to the field of space superiority within the U.S. Space Force(USSF).

On June 26, 2026, Captain Zermeno was the first officer reinstated into the Department of the Air Force and USSF, once again taking the oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

This great commitmentremained in effect for him even while not in uniform for the past five years.

“Returning to service under President Trump’s Executive Order 14184 is profoundly meaningful to me,” he expresses.

“This opportunity has surprisingly turned into the pinnacle and defining moment of my career. It allows me to fully commit myself once more to serving our nation, complete the work I began over a decade ago, and teach my children the importance of resilience and dedication to principles.”

Zermeno is set to report for duty on July 26 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. As this date nears, he shares, “I am profoundly grateful and honored to once again wear the uniform and uphold my oath.”

For Zermeno, the journey to reach this point was long and challenging. He enlisted in the Air Force in 2010. After serving as a mechanic for B-52 strategic bombers for several years, he was able toleverage his mechanical engineering degree to apply for Officer Training School (OTS).

Upon completing OTS, Zermeno was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force and started Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT). He graduatedsecond in his class in 2015and was subsequently assigned to RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft operations.

In 2018, he was presented with another career shiftopportunity and assigned to the 1st Air and Space Test Squadron at Vandenberg SFB. He began working with rockets, collaborating with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), SpaceX, and various other organizations focused on space exploration. In 2021, he was among the first officers to be commissioned into the United States Space Force. However, 2021 also marked the year when all his hard-earned achievements were stripped away.

Zermeno raised concerns about the military’s August 2021 COVID-19 shot mandateissued by then-Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, challenging its “efficacy and legality.” As a result, he received three Letter of Reprimands (LORs), an Article 15, and multiple“Do Not Promote,”recommendations which hindered his advancement to the rank of major.

In October 2021, he sought to leavethe military voluntarily, but he was informed thathis separation was “not in the best interest of the Air Force and Space Force.” Following this communication, base leadership barred him from entering government buildings and.took action against him under the Uniform Code of Military Justice(UCMJ).

Although the COVID-19 shot mandate was lifted in January 2023, hewas overlooked for promotion for the second time solely for shot refusal—a career killer.

He was forcedto involuntarily separate from the USSF on August 31, 2023.However, President Donald Trump’s January 2025 Executive Orderaimed at reinstating service members discharged due to the shot mandate compelled him to take action and make and attempt to return to service.

After an18-month strugglewith the Department of the Air Force’s Reinstatement process and the Board for the Correction of Military Records (BCMR)—an administrative authority many consider largely ineffective and abureaucracythat sidelines Trump’s intent—he succeeded in making his return.

In spite ofTrump’s Executive Order thatwould “allow those service members reinstated…to return to their previous rank and receive full back pay, benefits, bonus payments, or compensation,” this has not been the case for Zermeno and many others who have been reinstated. The reinstatement process entails detailed stipulations that diminish any back pay by deducting all civilian earnings accrued during the period of separation. In reality, only individuals who had no income after their service ended qualify for the full back pay.

The Board’s determination declares: “He is entitled to all related back pay, benefits, and entitlements, less any necessary offsets resulting from the aforementioned corrections to his record.”

“Although receiving backpay would have alleviated some of the considerable personal and financial hardships my family faced due to two years of military punishment and the difficulties of adjusting to civilian life, being reinstated holds far greater importancefor me than any monetary compensation==.

I was determined to return to dutyno matter what, even if the backpay amounted to nothing,” Zermeno remarked.

This determination is echoed in Zermeno’s reflection on the situation, as he admitted, “The COVID-19 mandate stands as one of the most significant mistakes in military history and should not be forgotten.” He further emphasized, “The repercussions of this mandate are still being felt by service members,” noting that, “it adversely affected tens of thousands of service members.”

Many, like him, have been left pursuing reinstatementover an order that was deemed “unlawful as implemented.”

Fortunately, he has successfully endured the fight after a very prolonged struggle and is eager to finish his career, hoping that many others will have the opportunity to do the same.

To preserve the historyof the military’s COVID-19 shot mandate, Zermeno authored the book titled, “DISOBEYING AN UNLAWFUL ORDER: A SPACE FORCE OFFICER’S FIGHT FOR FREEDOM”, in 2025.
