Those numbers for franchise growth during THAT economy are surprising. Since the RE crash, franchising slowed dramatically. During the boon times, franchisees were in great numbers taking out heloc loans due to inflated property value. Much of franchising is money laundering and cost abuse by the franchisors sauce: experience in the industry.
Think: cash, “service workers” and visas.
Much of the monkeying with california now can be traced back to prop 64 and 65. Jerry Moonbeam Brown is back in office to finish the job.
Grew up there and most in the industry are neurotic, easily comped. A culture of people who leave their families in pursuit of self. California has become a sh*thole country. Hopefully not for too much longer. Many good people there still but the culture has been fully perverted.
