Instead of spending all our money on improved 5th generation and 6th generation fighters, the real problem is the supply chain. Large KC tankers are not stealth, and F35's have a range of 670 miles, the not ready for prime time F47 1000 mile range. There are over 1,800 F35's in the US arsenal. In order to have them operate uncontested deep within enemy territory, they would have to operate from forward bases in enemy territory or have our tankers subjected to hypersonic range. It is time that the US spends some of that money on modernizing at least 10 newer tankers that are just as stealthy as a B-21 Raider or at least close to it's signature. 185 F47's at $300 million is still not the right numbers. Cut it back to 60, and build 10 stealth tankers instead. This would allow the US to operate all 1800 F35's anywhere in the world, even in the most contested airspaces. This could be done rather quickly as their is no need for new avionics nor weapons, just a stealth hull, capable of carrying fuel with readily available systems. With the designs all ready on the books, we could produce one in a few months. ThankQ for your attention to this matter.
