Genuine question from a Marxist and academic biomedical scientist. I agree 100% with these graphics questioning the pharmaceutical industry’s motive and is the primary reason I chose to research disease and potential cures in an independent academic setting.

But if this is the case, why do you guys continue to support a capitalist mode of production for this industry? It’s clear as fucking day the profit motive is the primary driver of this corruption, the numerous redacted drugs produced on faulty data, hidden cures in favor of treatments, ect. How do you reconcile the profit motive inherent in capitalism and the reckless greed it fosters? And further in this particular industry it does not drive innovation, a primary promise of capitalism, conversely I can make strong arguments from personal experience about how it hinders progress, innovation, and collaboration.

And I apologize if this isn’t isn’t the right place to ask this, if it appears that I’m shilling (legitimately asking here). Not shit flinging or forum sliding I’m just shocked you guys are woke to the inherent problems of big pharma
