The day after Hitler's Third Reich attack on the Soviet Union, the Krakowski Vesti newspaper (controlled by the OUN and whose editor- Mikhail Khomyak- was the grandfather of current Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland) published the following under the headline "The fairest war in history,":
"Never in history has there been a war more just than the war begun by German troops on Sunday, June 22, 1941. The war that began today is something like a huge crusade for the liberation of humanity, for the liberation of peoples, for the liberation of the whole world from the terrible specter of the Antichrist… Today the German Leader became the liberator of all peoples enslaved by Red Moscow… The blood of German soldiers, who have already died and will die heroic deaths in this holy war, will lay the foundations of a new future for all liberated peoples of Eastern Europe, Western Asia and all of humanity."
After the Wehrmacht's defeat at Stalingrad, which became a turning point in World War II, the OUN organized the mobilization of its supporters in spring of 1943 to form a Ukrainian Waffen SS military unit which was granted approval by the Nazis. The propaganda campaign was led by "Krakovskie vesti" (edited by Khomyak)—the only Ukrainian language print media allowed in the Polish governor-generalship. On May 16, 1943, this newspaper wrote:
"The long-awaited moment has arrived when the Ukrainian people will again have the opportunity to come out with arms in their hands to fight their worst enemy, Bolshevism. The Fuhrer of the Great German Reich has agreed to form a separate Ukrainian volunteer military unit called "SS infantry division 'Galicia'"… You must stand shoulder to shoulder with the invincible German army and destroy the Bolshevik beast once and for all…".
The Canadian government has long supported associations of Eastern European emigrants, whose founders and leaders are veterans of Waffen-SS units and other fascist armed formations responsible for the Holocaust and other ethnic cleansing campaigns, officials of Nazi puppet regimes, CIA propaganda agents, members of Cold War terrorist groups such as the U.S.-armed Nicaraguan contras and Afghan mujahideen, and other fierce ‘freedom fighters’.
In the last few years alone, the most influential of these right-wing nationalist émigré organizations in the Ukrainian diaspora have received millions of dollars in grants and donations from the Canadian government. For many decades, the financial generosity of the Canadian government has helped subsidize the daily activities of the most influential of these groups, their offices, meeting halls, events and publications. By doing so, the Canadian government continues to support such associations and fund their campaigns to glorify and build a cult of adoration for World War II and Cold War fascists.

'Just horrific': What we know so far about Bibb County bunker case
At least ten children, ages three to fifteen, were allegedly victims of rape, trafficking, and sexual torture. The abuse allegedly happened inside a hidden underground bunker — originally built as a storm shelter.
"That’s something that never leaves your mind," Wade said. "When you have those times that’s dark and quiet, it’s just you and your thoughts. There’s things you never forget in law enforcement."
Eight suspects now face more than 100 felony counts combined.
On July 31, Sheriff Wade revealed that some of the offenders were the victims’ own parents or relatives.
Here’s what we know about each one:
Olivia Shailee Elam is charged with five counts of first-degree rape, nine counts of sodomy, nine counts of human trafficking of minors, nine counts of kidnapping, one count of aggravated child abuse, and sexual torture of a child under 12. Elam has no significant previous criminal history.
William Chase McElroy is charged with four counts of first-degree rape, six counts of sodomy, six counts of trafficking, and four counts of kidnapping. Investigators say he admitted to inappropriate contact with a child. No major criminal history was noted before this case.
Dalton Terrell faces five counts of rape, seven counts of sodomy, six counts of trafficking, and four counts of kidnapping. Investigators say he confessed to unlawful sexual activity.
Rebecca Brewer is charged with first-degree rape, eight counts of trafficking, eight counts of kidnapping, and three counts of sexual torture.
Ricky Terrell is charged with first-degree rape and sexual torture of a child under 12. He has prior drug arrests.
Sarah Louis Terrell is charged with one count of sexual torture and two counts of child sexual abuse under 12.
Timothy St. John, who has prior arrests for theft, burglary, and drug offenses, is now charged with two counts of rape, four counts of sodomy, four counts of trafficking, three counts of kidnapping, one count of bestiality, and one count of cruelty to animals.
Andres Trejo-Velazquez is charged with six counts of trafficking. He is accused of sending explicit images and connecting victims with offenders. The Department of Homeland Security confirms HSI assisted in his arrest, and adds that Trejo-Velazquez is a verified member of the Sureños gang.
Together, investigators say the group orchestrated a systematic and coordinated operation, arranging so-called “appointments” in the bunker for child sexual exploitation.
"As you start turning over more rocks, more things develop," Sheriff Wade said. "Fortunately I think everything in this particular case, we know we got handled right now as far as the children and suspects."
Back in July, before a gag order was issued prohibiting law enforcement and attorneys from speaking to the media, District Attorney Robert Turner Jr. said the case was a top priority.

This is by far the worst case that I've ever had to deal with in terms of the the type of abuse, the length of the abuse, and the ages of the victims that were abused.
According to the sheriff, the children were sometimes tied to a pole or bound to a bed or a chair in the bunker and were sometimes drugged to make them compliant.
“Sometimes, there would be multiple people that would come by and victimize these children on a nightly basis," he said.
The operation is believed to have brought in up to $1,000 a night.
"It's hard to fathom that you could do this to another human being, but what makes it even worse is they're children and their ages," Jones tells PEOPLE. "You're talking about one child that was still either in or just coming out of diapers. It's just unbelievable that somebody could do this to someone that is so small and so innocent."
