The Daily Stormer website was shut down by its founder, Andrew Anglin, who announced the site's closure on March 12, 2026, writing,

Andrew Anglin, publisher of the neo-Nazi website The Daily Stormer, was ordered in 2019 to pay nearly $20 million in damages across three separate default judgments for instigating antisemitic and racist "troll storms" against private individuals.
Because Anglin continually evaded court appearances and refused to pay, his victims' attorneys have sought to seize his domestic assets and intellectual property.
The primary judgments against him include:Tanya Gersh ($14 Million): A federal judge in Montana ordered Anglin to pay $14 million to a Jewish real estate agent after he published her personal information and directed his readers to subject her and her family to a sustained campaign of antisemitic harassment.Dean Obeidallah ($4.1 Million): Anglin was ordered to pay $4.1 million in a defamation lawsuit filed by the Muslim-American radio host after Anglin published articles falsely portraying him as a terrorist.Taylor Dumpson ($725,000): A Washington, D.C. judge awarded American University's first Black female student body president $725,000 after Anglin targeted her in a racist online harassment campaign following a campus hate crime.
