The first thing they did, was install Ho Chi Mihn to set up a communist insurgency to help kick out the Japs.
Mountbatten and Donovan appointed a US General, Joseph "vinegar" Stilwell to take control of Burma, and build a road to China.
The Stillwell Highway, also known as the Ledo Road, was a strategic route connecting India, Myanmar, and China, originally built during World War II, bypassing the dangerous air supply line known as "The Hump", to supply Chinese (with opium) whilst fighting Japanese aggression.
This came to be known as the first leg in the Ho Chi Mihn trail.
