Cartilage, Cardiac Studies and Cargo Ops Wrap Up Week Aboard Station
July 2, 2026 11:44AM
Cartilage repair, cardiac research, and cargo operations wrapped up the week for the Expedition 74 crew before heading into a relaxing three-day weekend. The International Space Station is also orbiting higher following a reboost maneuver on Wednesday.
NASA flight engineer Jessica Meir opened up the Kibo laboratory module’s Life Science Glovebox on Thursday and continued studying how cartilage tissues grow in microgravity.
She nourished the cartilage cell samples inside the glovebox then processed them for stowage inside a research incubator. Scientists are exploring engineering cartilage tissues in space possibly leading to self-repairing implants on Earth and advanced fitness techniques for space crews.
NASA flight engineer Chris Williams began his shift with Roscosmos flight engineer Sergei Mikaev in the Columbus laboratory module for neck, shoulder, and leg vein scans using the Ultrasound 3 device that was delivered aboard Northrop Grumman’s Cygnus XL resupply ship on April 14.
Doctors will analyze the biomedical data from the Ultrasound 3 for insights into microgravity’s effect on the human circulatory system and learn how to protect crew members from space-caused blood clots.
Next, Williams focused on cargo transfers inside Cygnus XL which is attached to the Unity module’s Earth-facing port. Meir, along with flight engineer Sophie Adenot of ESA (European Space Agency), assisted Williams with the cargo work.
Cygnus XL is in the middle of a six-month stay at the orbital outpost.
Adenot also partnered up with NASA flight engineer Jack Hathaway and configured an extra sleep station, also called a crew alternate sleep accommodation, in Columbus preparing it for an upcoming crew swap later this month.
Earlier, Hathaway inspected hatch seals then stowed cameras used during Tuesday’s spacewalk. Adenot updated an exercise database that records a crew member’s physical condition after a workout session aboard the space station.
Mikaev continued his blood circulation research with station commander Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and studied how blood flows in tiny vessels , or the micro-circulatory system.
The duo wore light-based sensors on their forehead, fingers, and toes and pointed a laser beam that interacted with the skin providing signals that characterize blood flow and distribution in weightlessness.
Results may enable early detection of space-caused blood conditions and the development of advanced medical technology.
Flight engineer Andrey Fedyaev focused primarily on maintenance tasks throughout the orbital outpost’s Roscosmos segment.
Fedyaev began his shift replacing orbital plumbing components then servicing an oxygen generator.
After lunchtime, the two-time station resident tested computer operations in the Nauka science module then documented stowage space and the location of hardware in the Zarya module.
The International Space Station is orbiting slightly higher after a Progress 95 resupply ship docked to the Zvezda service module fired its engines for nine-and-a-half-minutes on Wednesday.
The reboost places the orbital outpost at the correct altitude for the arrival of the Soyuz MS-29 spacecraft and its three crew members, Roscosmos cosmonauts Pyotr Dubrov and Anna Kikina and NASA astronaut Anil Menon, in mid-July.
A few days after the new trio arrives, Kud-Sverchkov, Mikaev, and Williams will return to Earth aboard the Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft completing the Expedition 74 mission.

'Flying saucer' arrives at NASA for Artemis 3 moon mission in time for World UFO Day
July 2, 2026
Just in time for UFO Day.
Did a flying saucer just land at NASA? It sure looks like it.
This is actually the weather cover for the core stage of NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, which is currently gearing up to launch the Artemis 3 mission in mid-2027.
What is it?
Aboard NASA's Pegasus barge, floating out in the Atlantic ocean, sits what looks like a classic, sci-fi movie UFO flying saucer.
With some flashing lights, this thing flying around in the sky would cause quite a commotion. But it's actually a critical piece of hardware for NASA's Artemis program returning humans to the moon.
The Pegasus barge is a large cargo ship — it's a whopping 310 feet (94.4 meters) long — designed to carry the massive core stage of NASA's SLS megarocket.
As the agency marches forward with its plans for Artemis 3, a crewed flight to low Earth orbit that will serve as a key test ahead of future missions to the moon, the SLS prepares for launch.
Once stacked on the launch pad at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, this flying saucer will actually serve as a weather cover, protecting the rocket's core stage and its thermal systems from the often turbulent and unpredictable weather on the Space Coast.
Why is it incredible?
It is always fun when science fiction and science fact meet.
The design of this weather cover could not be closer to the flying saucer designs that have flown across screens in sci-fi flicks for the 1950s and '60s to today.
It's interesting to wonder whether these familiar images of flying saucers somehow inspired this functional design.
But however inspiration struck, this weather cover will serve an incredible purpose.
It will shield the rocket's core stage, the tallest rocket stage NASA has ever built, which holds hundreds of thousands of gallons of propellant and supports the weight of the rocket's upper stage, payload, and the Orion crew capsule.
The safety of the Artemis astronauts and the success of these missions depend on the rocket launching perfectly, and every single piece, including this weather cover, are part of ensuring that success.

System Delta 88 welcomes new commander to lead $57B satellite communications programs
July 2, 2026
USSF Col. Ryan Rose assumed command of System Delta 88, the Space Systems Command (SSC) unit responsible for satellite communications, during a change of command ceremony at Los Angeles Air Force Base, June 26.
Lt. Gen. Philip Garrant, Space Systems Command commander, presided over the ceremony, which marked the unit’s first change of command since its activation in September 2025.
As part of a time-honored tradition symbolizing the formal transfer of authority, Garrant facilitated the passing of the guidon from the outgoing commander, USSF Col. A.J. Ashby, to Rose.
In her new role, Rose leads System Delta 88’s military and civilian space-minded warfighters and acquisition professionals.
She is responsible for the innovation, acquisition, and deployment of commercial satellite communications solutions, and the nation’s $57 billion portfolio of narrowband, wideband, protected tactical, and strategic satellite communications weapon systems programs.
A seasoned acquisition leader, Rose brings a wealth of experience to the position, having served multiple tours within the former Space and Missile Systems Center and held various roles at Space Systems Command.
Since 2025, she has been serving as and will remain the system program director for System Delta 88’s Strategic Satellite Communications Division, overseeing a $23 billion portfolio that includes the Evolved Strategic SATCOM and Enhanced Polar System Recapitalization programs.
With her new position, Rose will be dual-hatted as both the System Delta commander and system program director.
Addressing System Delta 88 for the first time as commander, Rose challenged her team to continue their momentum and remain laser-focused on the mission.
“As we realign and evolve as an organization, we must also continue to execute and deliver capabilities that warfighters rely on every day,” Rose said. “We must stay focused on the mission.”
In his outgoing speech, Ashby reflected on the unique warfighting culture the unit built during his tenure.
“There has never been a better time to be a warfighting acquisition professional,” Ashby said. “Just as we recognize space as a warfighting domain, we must now also recognize acquisition as a warfighting function.”
Ashby, who will go on to serve as director of capability delivery in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Space Acquisition and Integration, had led System Delta 88 since its activation.
Under his leadership, the unit received the 2025 David Packard Excellence in Acquisition Award for delivering a critical nuclear command, control, and communications capability two years ahead of schedule.
It was the largest source selection in Space Force history across a $23 billion portfolio.
System Delta 88 is the Space Systems Command acquisition unit responsible for synchronizing acquisition efforts for satellite communications and integration with Combat Forces Command’s Mission Delta 8.
Under the purview of the Space Force Portfolio Acquisition Executive for Satellite Communications and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing, the unit delivers satellites, ground control segments, data systems, and software capabilities for asymmetric, all-domain satellite communications superiority.
“As we begin this new chapter, I ask each member of the ‘Great 88’ to continue bringing your best and the Wolfpack mentality every day,” Rose said.
“By working together, supporting one another, and remaining committed to our mission and the Space Force values, there is no challenge we cannot overcome.”

Space tests to aid blood and brain research
Updated: 2026-07-02 09:07
Shenzhou XXIII crew conducts a host of experiments on board Tiangong
The Shenzhou XXIII mission crew has carried out a number of science and technology tasks since its arrival at the Tiangong space station a little over a month ago, the China Manned Space Agency has announced.
To support space medical experimentation, the Shenzhou XXIII astronauts — mission commander and spaceflight engineer Colonel Zhu Yangzhu, spacecraft pilot Colonel Zhang Zhiyuan and science payload specialist Lai Ka-ying — assisted one another to conduct ultrasound examinations on multiple body parts including the neck, wrist and abdomen.
The collected data is being used for research on blood vessel and blood flow characteristics, as well as the remodeling of sensitive muscle groups.
Zhu's team used a robot called Xiaohang to perform touch interaction tests. The results will help optimize the motion planning algorithms for in-orbit robots in future missions.
The astronauts also used electroencephalogram acquisition devices to conduct multiple experiments that cover visual-motor processing and behavioral responses to lighting conditions.
In addition, the crew members applied near-infrared brain functional imaging equipment to gather relevant data to help researchers explore the impact of long-duration spaceflights on astronauts' brain functional networks, as well as the brain's spontaneous adjustment and adaptation mechanisms in response to external environmental changes in space.
In the field of microgravity physics, Zhu and his teammates installed and repaired several world-class experimental apparatus.
Moreover, they used a diagnosis instrument, which incorporates diagnostic methods in traditional Chinese medicine, to collect physiological data, providing solid support for researchers to monitor astronauts' health in long-duration spaceflight, according to a news release from the space agency.
Apart from their routine duties, the Shenzhou XXIII astronauts used a hot air oven to prepare a dish that no crew had ever attempted — roasted pumpkin.
In 2025, astronauts from the Shenzhou XX and Shenzhou XXI missions demonstrated to the public how they used this specially designed oven to cook grilled chicken wings and steak, enjoying the first-ever space barbecue in front of the camera with great relish.
According to Liu Weibo, an engineer at the Astronaut Center of China, this world-first "space oven" can extract cooking fumes and collect food residues inside its chamber, while sealing food in place and heating it evenly.
Before China, the United States had delivered an oven in 2019 to the International Space Station and had astronauts bake cookies in microgravity as part of an experiment.
However, the cookies they made were never eaten and were instead sent back to Earth for research purposes.
The Shenzhou XXIII crew launched into space on May 24 and arrived at the Chinese space station the next day, marking China's 17th manned spaceflight and also the 11th crewed mission aboard the Tiangong.

Ukrainian millionaire targeted in bomb plot ‘was planning to expose Kiev corruption’ – former French spy
1 Jul, 2026 23:50 | Updated 2 Jul, 2026 12:42
Investigators reportedly suspect Ukrainian state involvement in the attack that wounded Vadim Ermolaev and his family in Monaco
The Ukrainian millionaire targeted in the Monaco bombing this week had become a nuisance to Kiev, former French intelligence agent Claude Moniquet has told Nice-Matin.
Vadim Ermolaev was seriously wounded on Monday evening when an explosive device hidden in a backpack detonated at the entrance to a residential building in the French Riviera microstate.
The Ukrainian-born businessman, who currently holds Cypriot citizenship, had been suspected of links to organized crime and sanctioned by Vladimir Zelensky. Ermolaev’s partner and 13-year-old son were also injured in the blast.
Moniquet, a former officer of France’s DGSE intelligence service and co-founder of the European Strategic Intelligence and Security Center, told Nice-Matin that Ermolaev had in recent weeks been “planning to give a presentation at the European Parliament to expose corruption in Ukraine.”
“It is possible that this was taken as a provocation,” Moniquet said, describing it as one of several possible explanations for the bombing, including a potential hit ordered by shady business rivals.
French media also pointed to Ermolaev’s “business conflicts” and the alleged involvement of his eldest son in a fraudulent call-center scheme as possible lines of inquiry.
Le Figaro reported earlier this week, citing sources close to the case, that investigators were focusing on the possibility that the attack was orchestrated by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
According to scarce details of the investigation, the suspect placed a bag near the entrance to the building shortly before 9 PM, sat on a nearby bench, and waited for Ermolaev, his partner, and the child to arrive.
The man reportedly fled up a nearby street toward the French border, and the explosion was triggered moments later. Le Parisien reported that investigators believe the device was activated by the suspect. CCTV footage shows him fiddling with a smartphone as he ran away.
The Monaco authorities initially treated the incident as a potential terrorist attack, but eventually opened a criminal case on suspicion of attempted assassination. The suspect has not been arrested and remains at large more than 52 hours later.
Ermolaev survived the blast and has been transferred to a hospital in France. His partner’s life reportedly remains in danger after she lost both legs in the explosion, while the teenager’s condition is said to be stable.
Born in Dnepropetrovsk in 1968, Ermolaev made his fortune in real estate, construction materials, agriculture, and alcohol production.
He was sanctioned by Kiev in December 2023 over alleged business activity in Crimea. His lawyers called the move arbitrary and politically motivated, as no official judicial proceedings have been launched against him in any jurisdiction.
He had been the victim of an attempted takeover of his companies by the Ukrainian authorities, and after denouncing it, he had since become the bete noire of Kiev and the target of sanctions decided by Vladimir Zelensky based on a ‘secret dossier.’
That’s how things go in Ukraine!” Moniquet said in a post on X.
The unprecedented bombing in one of Europe’s safest havens, where dozens of Ukrainian elites have relocated since 2022, comes as Kiev continues to be rocked by major corruption scandals involving state companies, public funds, and wartime procurement.
Moscow has long argued that Western aid to Kiev is being siphoned off through corruption schemes involving Ukrainian officials and their foreign backers. Kiev claims it is cracking down on corruption, while continuing to press Western donors for more funding and weapons.

Kiev ablaze as Russia targets Ukrainian war infrastructure (VIDEOS)
2 Jul, 2026 02:49 | Updated 2 Jul, 2026 13:10
Mayor Vitaly Klitschko has described the attack as the most massive since the start of the conflict
The Ukrainian capital and several other cities across the country were hit by a combined drone and missile strike early on Thursday morning, in what the Russian Defense Ministry called a response to terrorist attacks by Vladimir Zelensky’s government.
The first wave of blasts in Kiev was heard around 2 AM local time, followed by more explosions in multiple waves until 4 AM. Mayor Vitaly Klitschko urged residents to seek shelter as the capital’s air defenses engaged incoming targets.
Klitschko has since described the strikes as “the largest attack” the city had experienced since the escalation of the conflict in 2022, stating the capital was hit by ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones. “It was a terrible night for Kiev,” he wrote on Telegram.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the strike with “high-precision long-range weapons” targeted “military industry enterprises and facilities and the fuel and energy facilities in the city of Kiev and the Kiev region, as well as military airfields and other infrastructure in Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Cherkasy, and Chernigov regions.”
The Russian military later released a detailed list of targets.
Among them was a plant producing guidance systems for Ukrainian drones and missiles, a factory producing long-range drones and loitering munitions, a plant involved in upgrading Ukrainian armor and producing military optics, an electronic warfare equipment producer, a drone parts depot, a fuel depot, and several gas facilities that the statement said provided energy supplies for weapons manufacturing.
Videos shared on social media show numerous blasts and fires in and around the Ukrainian capital.
Klitschko reported extensive damage across all districts of the city. Ukrainian officials claimed that many of the missiles struck residential buildings and civilian infrastructure, killing at least 20 people and injuring around 90 more.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has stressed that the attack was “not about civilian Kiev, but about the military strategic targets being used by the Kiev regime to kill civilians.”
The exact locations and types of facilities hit are difficult to verify, as the Ukrainian authorities tightly restrict information about strike sites and penalize those who share footage of impacts, except when civilian infrastructure is affected.
Moscow has pledged to conduct “systematic and consistent strikes” on Ukraine’s military installations, drone manufacturing sites, command posts, and “decision-making centers” in retaliation for deadly “terrorist attacks.”
In recent weeks, Ukraine has stepped up long-range drone raids deep into Russian territory, often hitting residential buildings and civilian infrastructure.
On Tuesday, a six-month-old baby was killed in a Ukrainian drone attack in Moscow Region. Last week, 12 people were injured in a strike on a WWII museum in Rostov Region.
Last month, Kiev launched one of its largest drone attacks on Moscow, hitting an oil refinery in the capital and injuring 17 people, including two children.
Russia maintains that it only targets military and dual-use installations in response to Ukraine’s indiscriminate “terrorist attacks.”
Kiev routinely accuses Russia of deliberately hitting civilian sites, but has a long history of using civilian installations, including warehouses, public buildings, and agricultural and industrial facilities for military purposes.
Ukrainian media recently exposed a drone plant at a film studio hit by Russia. Over the course of the conflict, Kiev has taken considerable steps to decentralize its weapons production chain, creating small-scale assembly sites that mainly produce FPV and fixed-wing long-range drones from components supplied from abroad.

Ukraine Targets Russian Drone Stockpile, Rail Logistics, and Command Post Overnight
Updated Jul 02, 2026 11:50
Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck several important Russian military targets in occupied territories overnight on July 2, Ukraine’s General Staff reported.
According to the General Staff, Ukrainian forces hit a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle warehouse near Kamyanka in Zaporizhzhia region.
Ukraine also struck a railway bridge over the Siverskyi Donets River near Stanytsia Luhanska. The bridge was used by Russian forces for military logistics, including the movement of troops, weapons, and supplies.
Another target was a Russian command and observation post near Vilshana in the Kharkiv region.
The strikes fit into Ukraine’s wider campaign against Russian rear infrastructure, drone logistics, command nodes, and military supply routes across occupied territories.
They also come against the backdrop of Ukraine’s ongoing 40-day operation to increase pressure on Russia’s military capabilities.
The Security Service of Ukraine previously referenced the campaign after its strike on the Saky airfield in occupied Crimea, where SBU drones hit hangars reportedly holding Russian Su-30 and Su-30SM fighter jets.
Ukraine’s Defense Forces, as part of their DeepStrike campaign, struck 11 Russian oil refineries, seven fuel logistics facilities, eight military-industrial plants, space communications centres, as well as naval vessels and ferries in June, according to the latest reports.

Three People Were Killed In A Drone Attack In Pakistan
July 2, 2026
The Pakistani police have said that three people were killed and 10 others were injured in a “suspected” drone attack in the Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Dawn newspaper reported on Thursday, July 2, that the incident took place last evening near the “Dama Dola” area in Bajaur.
According to the report, police said a bomb was dropped on a house in the area using a drone.
Police in Pakistan said the deceased include a five-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, and all 13 victims belonged to the same family.
Reports say that in recent weeks, several “suspected” drone attacks have been reported in Bajaur.
This comes as, following recent Pakistani airstrikes on three provinces of Afghanistan, the Taliban have claimed drone attacks on areas in two Pakistani border provinces.

July 8: The Day Everything Changes?
July 2, 2026
As the countdown to July 8, 2026 intensifies, UFO enthusiasts worldwide are watching closely.
July 8 specifically marks the anniversary of the 1947 Roswell Army Air Field press release announcing the recovery of a “flying disc,” which was retracted within a day as a weather balloon.
British filmmaker and UFO researcher Mark Christopher Lee has reignited speculation with a high-profile X post predicting a major disclosure moment from President Donald Trump.
Mark Christopher Lee has been promoting this date as a potential turning point since at least late January 2026.
In his June 30 post, Lee wrote: “ JULY 8, 2026 — THE DAY THE WORLD CHANGES FOREVER? 79 years after Roswell… President Trump is reportedly ready to deliver the UFO disclosure speech humanity has been waiting for.
What if he confirms we are ‘not alone’? What if the biggest secret in human history is finally revealed?” The post features a dramatic image of the U.S. Capitol under stormy skies, with a glowing UFO overhead and a “CLASSIFIED” folder sticky-noted “JULY 8.”
Lee promotes his latest film as essential viewing “before July 8th,” urging shares and engagement with hashtags like #UFODisclosure and #TrumpDisclosure.
In a recent episode of his series The King of UFOs, Lee reflects on how the story unfolded. He received initial information from U.S. TV producer David Broadwell, who told him a UFO speech was ready for Trump. Lee says Broadwell indicated the speech had been authorized by world leaders.
Lee decided to go public rather than hold onto the information. He notes the date’s symbolic tie to the Roswell anniversary and discusses potential Pentagon pushback from elements viewing unexplained phenomena through a demonic lens, drawing on biblical interpretations.
Mark Christopher Lee, a 30-year UFO researcher and award-winning filmmaker who also led the Guinness Record-breaking band The Pocket Gods, has become a prominent voice in the field.
His public focus shifted in the mid-2010s from music to documentaries exploring UFOs, the paranormal, religion, elite secrecy, and consciousness.
Key themes in his work include whether encounters historically interpreted as angelic, demonic, or divine might actually involve non-human intelligence, and how religions might adapt to confirmed extraterrestrial reality.
He has also examined claims of British royal family interest or encounters with UFO phenomena and has deeply investigated the 1980 “British Roswell” incident at RAF Woodbridge in Rendlesham Forest, revisiting the site, interviewing witnesses, and exploring ongoing high strangeness such as orbs and possible portal-like activity.
Lee co-directed the 2025 documentary The Rendlesham UFO: The British Roswell, a 1 hour 54 minute film narrated by The X-Files icon William B. Davis. Lee and Roderick Godman are credited as directors, with Lee also serving as producer and writer.
The film is available on Apple TV and Prime Video. Other notable works include The King of UFOs, God Vs. Aliens, and UFO Encounters of the 5th Kind.
On May 19, 2025, Lee launched the UK UFO Disclosure Group at the Karma Sanctum Hotel in Soho, calling for greater UK government transparency, declassified documents, and protections for whistleblowers.
Speculation gained further traction earlier in 2026 when Lara Trump, during a February 18 episode of the Pod Force One podcast hosted by Miranda Devine, revealed that she and Eric Trump had asked the president about extraterrestrial life.
According to Lara, Trump responded coyly but alluded to a prepared speech on the topic that he might deliver at the right time, possibly involving some sort of extraterrestrial life.
In a subsequent White House press briefing that day, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt described the idea as “very exciting” and of “great interest” personally but noted it was news to her with no confirmed plans.
1/2
Following his February 19, 2026 directive, Trump instructed agencies to begin releasing government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects.
The administration has carried this out through the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE), hosted on a Department of War page. Releases occur in tranches of unresolved cases and are intended to continue on a rolling basis.
Release 01 arrived on May 8, 2026; Release 02 on May 22 featured 64 files including six PDFs, seven audio files, and 51 videos (many from military aircraft footage, though some lacked a fully substantiated chain of custody); and Release 03 followed on June 12.
Beyond national security and scientific implications, many observers—including voices in recent congressional discussions—frame potential confirmation of non-human intelligence as carrying profound religious and philosophical weight.
Congressman Eric Burlison has described such a revelation as potentially “the greatest revelation since the birth of Jesus Christ,” suggesting that a deeper reading of the Bible reveals a vast universe created by God, far beyond our planet.
This perspective ties into longstanding themes of angelic, demonic, or divine interpretations of unexplained aerial phenomena, raising questions of ontological shock, spiritual warfare, discernment between benevolent and deceptive forces, and humanity’s place in a larger cosmic order.
Lee’s own films and advocacy frequently explore these intersections of faith, consciousness, and the unknown.
Recent claims, such as those from Rep. Tim Burchett referencing classified briefings on “life forms alive here, life forms dead here, possibly both” along with recovered vehicles (some not from crashes), further underscore discussions of multiple non-human intelligence types, biologics, and legacy programs.
Vice President JD Vance has publicly stated his intention to review highly classified UFO information, expressing openness to the possibility that aliens could be real while connecting the topic to faith, mystical experiences, and phenomena that hyper-rational explanations cannot fully account for—echoing broader conversations about exorcisms, unexplained “weird shit,” and the limits of strict materialism.
President Donald Trump was filmed on an airport tarmac discussing declassification efforts. He noted that Bill Pulte is serving as DNI on a temporary basis until Jay Clayton is confirmed, and stated that he has instructed them to declassify whatever they want.
Trump emphasized that Clayton is highly respected and that significant declassification would occur under his leadership. The remarks underscore the administration’s push for greater transparency on classified materials.
The position of Director of National Intelligence (DNI) holds particular significance for any potential UFO or non-human biologics disclosure.
As the head of the U.S. intelligence community, the DNI oversees agencies with access to the most sensitive UAP-related files, crash retrieval programs, and legacy information that has long remained compartmentalized.
Successive DNIs have been central to coordinating declassification efforts under the PURSUE system, responding to congressional demands, and shaping what information reaches the public.
With the current administration’s emphasis on transparency, the DNI role could prove pivotal in determining the scope and pace of any future revelations regarding recovered craft, biological evidence, or non-human intelligence.
A full disclosure speech could reshape global understanding of humanity’s place in the cosmos, challenge institutions, and spark theological, scientific, and societal shifts—topics Lee has long explored. July 8 may bring a speech, another file release under PURSUE, or no formal announcement, but the date has become a focal point for disclosure watchers.

🧵 We have released a new policy brief, Concrete Next Steps for UAP Disclosure, authored by @ChrisKMellon, Adm. @GallaudetTim, and Kirk McConnell.
The brief argues that disclosure should now move along three concrete lines of effort: release compelling UAP documentation and sensor data, disclose the government’s intelligence analyses, and reveal evidence of crash-retrieval, reverse-engineering, and related programs.
2/ Release evidence scientists can analyze. File dumps consisting of grainy videos of phenomena potentially defying conventional physics are insufficient. We need actionable evidence: raw sensor information, high-resolution imagery, and data the scientific community can scrutinize.
3/ Where are these records, and why have they not been released? Releasing a crystal-clear picture or video of UAP could change the trajectory of this conversation overnight. That conversation is long overdue.
4/ Release the intelligence assessments. The American people paid for these analyses. They are owed their government’s honest conclusions. The Administration should release its analyses of the capabilities, origins, and intentions of UAP.
5/ Protect whistleblowers and strategically grant immunity. Witnesses have testified before Congress that the government has for decades conducted crash-retrieval and reverse-engineering programs.
If the Administration wants the truth, it should protect witnesses from prosecution, civil suit, and employment retaliation.
6/ We cannot continue to give a blank check to those evading Congress or democratically accountable leadership. The opportunity now is for the President and Congress to collaborate on the next chapter of disclosure.

SAUCER1 takes flight from Area51 on World UFO Day
Jul 2, 2026 / 10:23 AM PDT Updated: Jul 2, 2026 / 11:18 AM PDT
Plane watchers are keeping an eye on the sky Thursday after an aircraft registered as SAUCER1 took flight from Area51 just outside Las Vegas.
As of 10:30 a.m., more than 100,000 people were following the craft on tracking website flightradar24. By 11 a.m., the flight was no longer visible on flightradar.
Details about the craft include its registration as UFO and aircraft type as “just a weather balloon.”
Tracking data showed that it took off from Area 51 and moved southeast to New Mexico, where it flew directly over Roswell before completing several loops around the state and then heading north over the Rocky Mountains into Colorado.
While the flight didn’t list a destination, a Facebook post from Denver International Airport said the craft was heading there.
Notably, July 2 has been deemed World UFO Day which commemorates the 1947 incident in which an unknown object reportedly crashed near Roswell.
“More than a celebration of mystery, the day encourages scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and open-minded exploration of one of humanity’s oldest questions: Are we alone in the universe?
From the search for extraterrestrial intelligence to the study of unexplained observations, science continues to explore the cosmos with curiosity,” Dark Sky International, an organization that works to preserve and restore the nighttime environment from light pollution, posted on Facebook.

Mysterious Geometric UFO Sighting Across Multiple Mexican Cities Sparks 'Non-Human' Technology Debate
02 July 2026, 2:21 PM BST
A striking photograph of a triangular UFO slipping silently over the Mexican city of Emiliano Zapata on Saturday night has triggered a flurry of reports from neighbouring towns and set off a fresh debate over whether the object was advanced human hardware or 'non-human' technology. Shared widely on social media and in local news reports, the image shows a dark geometric shape marked by bright lights at its vertices, moving at what witnesses described as 'non-conventional' speed.
After residents across the central state of Morelos began flooding digital platforms with near-identical accounts of a peculiar formation in the night sky.
What began as a single post in a specialist monitoring group quickly spread into a wider wave of testimonies, drawing in amateur UFO researchers from across Mexico and reigniting long-standing suspicions that not everything seen overhead can be easily filed under drones and aircraft.
Geometric UFO Image Spreads Across Morelos
The original photograph of the UFO was uploaded by a user identified as Pedro Aguilar to an aero‑monitoring group over the weekend, according to local media in Emiliano Zapata.
Within minutes, the post drew hundreds of reactions and comments from residents who said they had either witnessed the same object or captured similar shapes on their own devices.
The image that touched all this off is simple but unsettling. It shows what appears to be a dark, triangular structure, with distinct lights fixed at its corners, standing in contrast to the more familiar patterns of commercial aviation.
Local coverage noted that the silhouette 'breaks with the models of commercial aircraft known to the public,' which is a careful way of saying that, to the naked eye, it does not look like a plane.
The story unraveled in familiar twenty‑first century fashion. What looked at first like a one‑off curiosity became a rolling thread of corroboration.
People from Cuernavaca, Jiutepec and Temixco weighed in, building an improvised map of the UFO's supposed route across the metropolitan area.
Some users in neighbouring states even claimed to have seen something similar in their own skies that evening, although those accounts remain unverified and, so far, undocumented by independent footage.
Witnesses quoted in local reports were adamant on a few key points. The object, they said, made no audible sound.
It appeared to move quickly, in straight, deliberate lines, and then outpaced what they would normally associate with helicopters or passenger jets.
That kind of description is classic UFO lore, of course, but it is also specific enough that it invites testing rather than simple dismissal.
1/2
UFO Theories Split Between 'Non-Human' Tech And Secret Craft
Once the sighting jumped from local groups into wider social media, the reactions polarised almost instantly.
In Emiliano Zapata and beyond, one vocal group of commenters argued that the triangular UFO could be evidence of technology 'of non-human origin,' as some posts put it.
For them, the sharp geometry and apparently smooth, silent manoeuvres echoed decades of UFO sightings that have never been convincingly explained away.
Others were having none of it. More sceptical observers suggested that the object might be a cutting‑edge drone designed for mapping or surveillance, a hypothesis that at least situates the mystery within human engineering.
Another line of argument compared the silhouette to persistent rumours around the so‑called TR‑3B, an alleged American triangular craft frequently invoked in conspiracy forums but never officially acknowledged.
Technical-minded users tried to pour cold water on both extremes. If you stare at enough UFO images, they pointed out, some will eventually resolve into reflections, lens artefacts or the quirks of digital zoom.
In that vein, several comments floated the possibility that the triangular formation could be an optical illusion created by camera lenses, rather than a discrete solid object streaking across the sky.
The difficulty is that, beyond blurry night photos and conflicting testimony, there is very little hard data to work with. No radar traces have been made public.
No airline or military flight plans have been matched to the sighting. And there is, as yet, no independent analytical report that strips the image back to its metadata and reconstructs the conditions in which it was taken.
Silence From Authorities Keeps UFO Mystery Alive
What has really poured fuel on this particular fire is the institutional silence around it.
Up to Sunday night, according to local coverage, no Mexican government agency, scientific body or aviation authority had issued any statement on the authenticity of the material circulating online. Meteorologists have not linked the incident to any unusual atmospheric event either.
In the absence of a formal explanation, speculation fills the vacuum. Autonomous researchers and ufology enthusiasts say they are continuing to analyse the images, including metadata checks intended to rule out digital tampering.
Local sky‑watching groups have urged residents to film any further anomalies they notice, hoping multiple vantage points might, in time, allow a more rigorous reconstruction of whatever passed over Emiliano Zapata.
It is worth underlining that, at this stage, nothing about the triangular UFO has been independently confirmed and no official body has endorsed any of the circulating theories, whether extraterrestrial, military or mundane.
Until additional evidence emerges, the photographs and accounts should be treated with caution and, frankly, a healthy dose of doubt.
Yet there is something revealing about how fast this geometric phantom travelled, not just across the sky, but through people's feeds and conversations.
In a country with a long history of reported sightings, another unexplained object might seem almost routine. Still, once again, an odd shape in the night has left residents looking upward and wondering who, or what, is really sharing their airspace.

Interview: On World UFO Day, Avi Loeb, Chair of UAP Science Council, talks about UFO Files and more
Jul 02, 2026, 10:38 IST | Updated: Jul 02, 2026, 10:38 IST
Story highlights
World UFO Day: Avi Loeb, the newly appointed Chair of the UAP Science Council for the White House, Pentagon, FBI and intelligence agencies, spoke to WION about UFOs, UAPs and what to expect.
On World UFO Day, we talked to Harvard professor Avi Loeb, who has been appointed the Chair of the UAP Science Council for the White House, Pentagon, FBI and intelligence agencies.
He is now leading the Trump administration’s new panel on security risks posed by UFOs. Loeb and his team have asked the Pentagon for videos, images and documents of unexplained encounters and incidents.
Loeb also runs the Galileo Project, which aims to "bring the search for extraterrestrial technological signatures of Extraterrestrial Technological Civilizations (ETCs) from accidental or anecdotal observations and legends to the mainstream of transparent."
Aliens and extraterrestrial technology have been the talk of the town in the past weeks, with the Pentagon releasing batches of files with information gathered over decades.
Now with Loeb leading a panel on UAPs, things might get even more interesting.
In an email interview with WION, Loeb talked about the significance of the UFO Files release and the switch to using the term "Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena" from "Unidentified Flying Objects."
Excerpts from the interview with Avi Loeb
Q. Now that the UFO Files with older records have been released, including Apollo-era transcripts and historical files, how has our understanding of foundational events like the 1947 Roswell incident or early military studies shifted?
None of the released records so far indicates beyond a reasonable doubt a non-human origin for the associated objects. It is clear that the Pentagon and the intelligence agencies are puzzled by the properties of objects that remain unidentified.
1/2
Q. The unexplained sightings are often attributed to thermal camera glitches, radar clutter, or weather balloons. How do modern military pilots cross-verify a visual sighting with advanced multi-sensor data to rule out instrument error?
Detection by multiple sensors operating in different wavelength bands (optical, infrared, radio) can verify that we are dealing with real objects and enable us to triangulate the distance of the objects from the camera.
This, in turn, allows us to infer the velocity and acceleration of the object and verify whether they lie outside the performance envelope of human-made technologies.
Q. There have been several reports where objects have been seen moving seamlessly between space, air, and water. There have been no visible propulsion systems or sonic booms recorded.
From a theoretical physics standpoint, what mechanisms could even hypothetically allow an object to defy fluid dynamics this way?
Water is a thousand times denser than air, and any human-made object would slow down a thousand times more in water than in air.
The only explanation for such incidents based on known physics would be to suggest that the actual velocity of the objects was very small for friction to be negligible, and that the apparent relative speed was mostly a result of the motion of the camera.
Q. Has the linguistic shift from 'UFO' to 'Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena' successfully opened the doors to serious academic study, or is it just a political euphemism?
The label is less important than the quality of the data. We now have much better cameras and other sensors than decades ago. It is impossible to ignore the existence of anomalous objects given the quality of the new data.
The most down-to-earth explanation is that the "orbs" are human-made drones. In case they originate from adversarial nations, this matter presents a breach of national security and must be taken seriously.
This is the reason for the shift in attitude. Of course, even if one in a million objects happens to be non-human-made, its finding will constitute the biggest discovery ever made by humanity.
Q. Lastly, if data eventually confirms the existence of non-human intelligence, how do you think humanity will react? Do you think humans are ready for it because of years of feeding on science fiction?
Humanity will adapt in the same way that it did when the Vatican admitted that Galileo Galilei was right. I discussed this affair in a new essay a couple of days ago.
In the blog, Loeb recalls the time when the Catholic Church punished three scientists for saying that the Sun, and not the Earth, was at the centre. Nicolaus Copernicus, Galileo Galilei and Giordano Bruno faced action for their views.
"The Vatican’s bureaucrats were never jailed for misleading the public, even after spacecraft provided clear images of the Earth moving around the Sun rather than being at the centre of the Universe," Loeb said.
"The general public adapted to the new reality without chants for revenge after the Vatican’s 1992 announcement," he said.

Coulthart responds to Elizondo UAP program comments
Updated: Jul 2, 2026 / 01:24 PM CDT
NewsNation’s Ross Coulthart is pushing back on comments he says misrepresent Luis Elizondo’s statements about his involvement in UFO programs.
A UFO whistleblower, Elizondo says he was director of the Pentagon’s Advanced Aerospace Identification Program, which he said he resigned from in 2017 over the secrecy surrounding UAPs.
But Coulthart has stated that he believes Elizondo had deeper involvement with UAP programs, specifically legacy UAP retrieval and reverse-engineering programs.
Coulthart stresses that, despite what has been reported, Elizondo has not directly denied involvement in legacy programs.
“What I saw was Lue very deftly avoiding any breach of his National Security Oath obligations and basically refusing to confirm or deny whether he was part of the legacy program,” Coulthart said.
“What he didn’t do is respond to the specific allegation that he was involved in the legacy UAP retrieval reverse engineering program.”
Coulthart stressed that he respects the constraints Elizondo is under.
“I do think there needs to come a time when Lue can be more forthcoming on what his past role was, including his past role with the UAP retrieval reverse engineering program in a counterintelligence role,” Coulthart said.
What Lue Elizondo has said
Earlier this week, Elizondon told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo that his focus for the past decade has been about increasing transparency and that he can not comment on whether or not he was a part of any government projects that were classified.
“I’ve committed myself to transparency to the degree that I could,” Elizondo said. “You were in the Legacy Program, you’ve never talked about it. Is that because you can’t?
And if you can’t, do you think it is fair of Ross to say that you still should (talk about it)?” Cuomo asked.
Elizondo replied, “I didn’t say I worked for the Legacy Program. And let me make this clear, too, Chris, and I am sure you can appreciate this.
When you work for the government and you have a security clearance, there’s always these statements, you know, ‘We cannot confirm or deny,’ and people always take that as some sort of implicit ‘yes.’ But the reality is that is not at all what that means.
There are classified programs out there, and if someone were to ask me, ‘Lue, were you part of, I don’t know, Project X with the M1 Abrams tank,’ even if I wasn’t, if it was a classified program, I would have to say, ‘I can’t discuss that, and in fact I can’t even acknowledge that.’
For those in your audience who have security clearance, they will relate to that.”
1/2
Elizondo says he resigned in 2017 in protest of how much the government kept secret about UAPs.
In the letter addressed to then Secretary of Defense James Mattis, Elizondo said he was quitting because “despite overwhelming evidence, certain individuals in the department remain staunchly opposed to further research on the controversial topic of anomalous aerospace threats.”
“They made my life hell,” he told Coulthart in a NewsNation interview.
The Pentagon has publicly denied Elizondo’s claim that he was the head of AATIP — both in prior public statements and directly to NewsNation.
“The department is fully committed to openness and accountability to Congress and the American people, which it must balance with its obligation to protect sensitive information, sources, and methods,” said Sue Gough, Department of Defense spokesperson.
“As we have said many times before, the department and AARO will follow the data wherever it leads; however, to date, we have not found any credible evidence of extraterrestrial activity.”
Some relief finally came for the Elizondo family in April 2021 when U.S. Sen. Harry Reid wrote a letter confirming Elizondo’s role in AATIP.
Lawmakers want protections for UFO whistleblowers
There has been a recent push from lawmakers to grant immunity for whistleblowers on UAP.
A group of the leading legislators on the subject recently requested the White House grant immunity and waive nondisclosure agreements for those with information on alleged UFO programs.
Lawmakers spoke of great fear from people involved, who even fear speaking to Congress, which has oversight responsibility over government agencies, including the Pentagon.
In a recent press conference, Rep. Eric Burlison, R-Mo., described getting information via what he called a “Tom Clancy-style dead drop” because the whistleblower feared speaking up.
Coulthart also expressed frustration with Congress.
“I am deeply frustrated that no one in Congress is addressing the bear in the room right now,” he said. “What has the U.S. recovered in terms of UAP nonhuman technology?”
With multiple witnesses on the record alleging the existence of secret UAP programs, Coulthart stated that the time has come to go beyond investigating whether such programs exist and on to finding out what they have recovered.
“It’s not good enough to say you need witnesses to come forward,” Coulthart said. “It’s time for Congress to do its job and show it’s capable of enforcing transparency and accountability for taxpayers who are footing the bill.”

Missing lab retiree was working on quantum physics, friend told cops
Updated: Jul 1, 2026 / 11:23 AM CDT
One of the so-called missing U.S. scientists with links to national security had been working with a Los Alamos National Laboratory professional on the question of “matter existing in two places simultaneously” when he disappeared, a friend told police.
Anthony Chavez disappeared while working on quantum physics
Anthony Chavez, 78, was a retired HVAC technician at the facility and was reported missing in May 2025.
Los Alamos, New Mexico, police found his newly purchased silver Acura parked in his driveway and his wallet, cigarettes and car keys in his locked residence, according to Los Angeles Magazine.
Perhaps most intriguing of all, a friend of Chavez’s told police, the retiree had been working with a Los Alamos scientist on quantum physics — “specifically, about being in two places at once,” says investigative journalist Lauren Conlin, who reviewed the police report.
“I have a lot of questions about that,” Conlin told “Jesse Weber Live” on Tuesday.
Chavez vanished more than a month before current Los Alamos employee 53-year-old administrative assistant Melissa Casias disappeared.
In May, her remains were found in Carson National Forest with a handgun nearby. There is no indication Chavez and Casias knew each other, Conlin said.
‘Missing scientists’ case
Both, however, have been lumped into a group of more than a dozen people, including government researchers and contractors with ties to defense or aerospace, who went missing or died under unusual circumstances in recent years.
Although the name “missing scientists” has stuck, the group includes a wide array of professionals.
Conspiracy theorists have suggested a link between members of the group and “unidentified anomalous phenomena,” or UAP, a topic that has gained significant traction in Washington, D.C.
Among the most high-profile of the disappearances is that of retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Neil McCasland, who is believed to have overseen classified government projects during his career.
The 68-year-old McCasland was reported missing Feb. 27 after he left his Albuquerque, New Mexico, home with a firearm.
His wife told authorities that McCasland had been struggling with physical and mental decline.

Congressman Reveals The Alien Brief That Changed The President’s Life
Jul 2, 2026
Our American Alchemist this week is Rep. Eric Burlison. Follow Eric on X at https://x.com/RepEricBurlison
Missouri Congressman Eric Burlison reveals that senior intelligence officials investigating a UAP encounter at a U.S. military installation in the western United States personally watched three-meter glowing plasma orbs interact with a helicopter and chase F-16 fighter jets scrambled to intercept them, an event so significant it elevated the government’s UAP investigation from a low priority case to a top ten national security concern.
Burlison, a member of the House Oversight Committee, says he was the first elected official briefed on the incident, by a team originally assembled under Tulsi Gabbard’s office.
He also confirms he personally toured Naval Air Station Patuxent River, the site allegedly slated to receive a craft transferred from Lockheed Martin to Bigelow Aerospace, and sat down with Navy scientist Salvatore Pais, whose patents on inertial mass reduction and gravitational wave generation read like a blueprint for anti-gravity propulsion.
Pais reportedly told him the government’s prototype was never built to his actual specifications, and a properly built version may have produced very different results.
