Mission To Boost NASA’s Swift Launches From Marshall Islands

July 3, 2026 6:16AM

A mission to raise the altitude of NASA’s Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory is underway after launching at 8:36 p.m. Marshall Islands Time (4:36 a.m. EDT), Friday, July 3, from Kwajalein Atoll in the South Pacific Ocean.

LINK, a robotic servicing spacecraft built by Katalyst Space, launched into orbit on a Northrop Grumman Pegasus XL rocket, which was deployed by the company’s Stargazer, a modified L-1011 aircraft, at an altitude of about 40,000 feet.

Our planet’s atmosphere creates drag for spacecraft in low Earth orbit, gradually reducing their altitude if they don’t have propulsion systems to maintain their positions.

Recent solar activity magnified this effect on Swift, and its orbit decayed faster than anticipated.

In September, NASA contracted Katalyst to boost Swift. The company needed to design, build, test, and launch LINK and meet, grab, and lift Swift in less than a year.

Now that LINK has reached orbit, the Katalyst team’s first step is to acquire a signal from the spacecraft, confirming its solar panels have deployed and the power systems are working.

NASA will continue to provide updates on the agency’s Swift blog.

To mark the 250th anniversary of the United States, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has released a new portrait of the nation from space

July 1, 2026

The mosaic stretches from the rainforests of the Pacific Northwest to the Everglades of Florida, and from the peaks of the Rocky Mountains to the agricultural heartland of the Great Plains.

The image, created using imagery from Landsat 8 and Landsat 9, is the latest chapter in a tradition that began half a century ago, when satellite imagery first gave Americans a new way to see their country.

A Tradition Rooted in 1976

Fifty years ago, to celebrate the bicentennial, the July 1976 issue of National Geographic featured the first Landsat photomosaic of the contiguous United States, titled "Portrait U.S.A."

The image introduced millions of Americans to a new satellite perspective of their country and demonstrated the potential of Landsat's emerging Earth-observation record.

It was proof that satellites could serve both as a scientific record and as a new way of seeing the American landscape.

The new 2026 portrait continues that tradition.

Where the 1976 mosaic introduced a new perspective on the nation, this image reflects how five decades of continuous observations, improved sensors, and advances in image processing have expanded our understanding of the American landscape.

How It Was Made

Creating a cloud-free, seamless portrait of an entire nation is no small feat. The mosaic was built by analyzing billions of Landsat 8 and Landsat 9 pixels from the USGS Landsat archive.

For each location, cloud-free observations collected during the growing season were compared, and the pixels that best represented typical conditions were selected to create the final image.

The result was then draped over elevation data to add depth and contrast.

Five Decades of Change

Over the past half century, Landsat has become part of the nation's decision-making infrastructure. Farmers use Landsat-derived products to monitor crop conditions and irrigation.

Water managers rely on Landsat observations to track snow cover, reservoir conditions, and water use. Emergency managers use Landsat imagery to assess wildfire impacts and flooding after major disasters.

The Landsat archive also provides a long-term record of change.

Researchers use Landsat to map land cover change, monitor coastal environments, track urban growth, and study shifts in forests, wetlands, and agricultural lands.

When a major event occurs, Landsat imagery provides the before-and-after context needed to understand what changed and how landscapes recover over time.

Behind this portrait is more than five decades of observations that have documented the American landscape since 1972.

These observations have become an essential resource for understanding how the nation has changed and for helping guide decisions about its future.

Looking Ahead

The Landsat record will continue to grow in the years ahead. Landsat 10, planned for launch in 2031, will preserve the continuity that makes the Landsat archive so valuable while expanding what scientists can observe.

Its Earth-imaging sensor will collect observations across many more wavelengths of light and at finer spatial resolution than previous Landsat missions.

These advances will provide a more detailed picture of water quality, agriculture, minerals, vegetation health, and other environmental conditions.

A Resource for Everyone

Managed jointly by NASA and USGS, Landsat data underpin thousands of scientific, governmental, and commercial applications ranging from agriculture and forestry monitoring to disaster response, water resource management, and urban planning.

The program's commitment to open, free, and timely data access has made it one of the most widely used Earth-observation datasets in the world.

At 54 years and counting, the Landsat archive already spans more than a fifth of the nation's history. By the time Landsat 10 completes its mission, that fraction will be closer to a third.

Guardian Resilience Teams promote holistic health, culture of fitness

July 1, 2026

As the nation’s newest military service, the Space Force continues to refine how Guardians meet the demands of operating in, from and to the space domain.

This evolution aligns with the Department of War’s broader shift toward managing the warfighter with the same rigor and accountability applied to any mission‑critical capability - emphasizing disciplined evaluation, sustained performance and long‑term readiness.

Central to that effort is a transition from traditional fitness models to Holistic Health Approach, an integrated and preventative approach that prioritizes the enduring health, performance and resilience of Guardians.

The U.S. Space Force established fitness‑for‑duty standards in its first Human Performance and Readiness manual, SPFMAN 36-2905, in September 2025, introducing leadership actions at the unit and squadron levels to further develop the service’s Holistic Health Approach.

What is the Holistic Health Approach?

In 2023, U.S. Space Force Headquarters released a memo outlining HHA for uniformed Guardians and its three elements: performance health optimization practices, education and a two‑year, voluntary Continuous Fitness Assessment study with Air Force Research Laboratory, which is now in its second phase called CFA PRIME.

Department of the Air Force leadership recognizes that physical fitness alone cannot sustain a force built on highly specialized, cognitively demanding roles.

Modern readiness requires a balanced approach that strengthens physical, mental and cognitive performance together. HHA emphasizes the interdependence of these domains, treating cognitive performance as a core component of operational capability.

“Space Force Guardians are cognitive performers,” said Dr. Sarah Ward, holistic health integrator assigned to the Space Force Quality of Life and Resilience Directorate, or S1Q, under Headquarters Space Force.

“Evidence-based research and practice show the link between cognitive performance and cognitive health to physical performance and physical health. You can’t have one without the other.”

Ward leads two Guardian Resilience Teams that support more than 1,300 Guardians in the National Capital Region.

How Guardian Resilience Teams support HHA practices

To support this evolution, GRTs are embedded across the force to deliver proactive, multidisciplinary care.

Comprised of specialists in psychological health, strength and conditioning, mental health and physical therapy, these teams guide Guardians toward sustained performance and readiness across the Total Force.

Anonymous ID: 7b4ae2 July 3, 2026, 9:36 a.m. No.24784852   🗄️.is 🔗kun   >>4985 >>5099 >>5369 >>5405 >>5447

>>24784851

Ward noted that GRTs represent a deliberate shift from reactive care to a prevention‑focused model.

Instead of preparing for periodic fitness assessments, Guardians are encouraged to adopt consistent, sustainable habits that reduce injury risk and enhance long‑term readiness.

This approach prioritizes lifestyle changes that support health and performance throughout a Guardian’s career, rather than short‑term preparation for testing cycles.

GRTs also train and certify Guardians to serve within Space Force’s Unit Fitness Cell teams, reinforcing the Department’s expectation that leaders at every level maintain responsibility for the physical, mental and cognitive readiness of their teams.

These fitness cells operationalize HHA by delivering training, programming and individualized guidance aligned with national exercise science standards to help Guardians meet mission requirements and stay healthy.

A key component of the HHA program is the use of data‑driven insights to tailor support to each Guardian.

Through wearable technology and performance tracking, GRTs help individuals better understand their health, adjust behaviors and optimize performance based on personalized metrics.

This reflects the DAF’s emphasis on leveraging modern technology to maintain operational advantage.

This personalized, preventative model aligns with the DAF’s broader culture of fitness initiative, which reframes physical training as essential to mission success rather than a standalone requirement.

Beyond physical conditioning, GRTs address Guardian‑specific challenges, including shift schedules and cognitively demanding operations.

In the NCR region, Ward shared that GRTs often provide guidance on sleep hygiene, nutrition, stress management and recovery strategies to help Guardians sustain performance in their mission environments.

“We know we can’t change shift work, so we teach them tips and tricks to the science so they can manage, recover, and heal better,” she said.

Future outlook for GRT support to Guardians

As awareness of GRT services grows, so does their utilization across the force. Ward said that the increased engagement she has seen reflects both the demand for and the value of their integrated support.

The HHA program plans to require lifestyle medicine board certification for all GRT specialists to better equip them with the knowledge to optimize long‑term Guardian health and resilience.

Through this continued focus on holistic health, the Space Force is reinforcing a culture that treats fitness, cognitive performance and well‑being as foundational to readiness.

“We’re sitting for national board certifications in lifestyle medicine to make sure that we’re at the highest level of education to infuse those true lifestyle changes into the Guardian’s daily activities and duty days,” she said.

According to Ward, by emphasizing prevention, personalization and performance, GRTs are building a more resilient force prepared to meet the challenges of an increasingly complex operational environment.

GRTs also support the DAF’s commitment to maintaining a force that is ready, capable and dominant over time.

Earth from Space: Grand Canyon, US==

03/07/2026

The Grand Canyon, a stunning natural feature in the landscape of Arizona, US, is featured in these two satellite views.

This river valley in the southwestern portion of the Colorado Plateau stretches for about 443 km and is up to 29 km wide. Canyon walls, rock structures, old lava flows, buttes, ravines, stair-step topography and brilliant colours mark its valuable geological heritage.

Although a number of processes combined to create the Grand Canyon, it was formed primarily by the eroding action of the Colorado River that began about six million years ago. Other contributing factors include vulcanism, continental drift and the semi-arid climate.

As water erosion sculpted this majestic geological landscape, it revealed layers and layers of exposed rocks that provide us with a profound record of geologic events. As some of Earth’s oldest rock lies at the bottom of the canyon, it is said to be a billion years deep.

In this comparison, the canyon is the rocky formation stretching across the centre of the images and visible in hues of orange in the left image and blue on the right.

Also visible in the top right corner of the left image is Lake Powell, an important reservoir on the Colorado River and the second-largest artificial lake in the United States.

Straddling the border of Utah (to the north) and Arizona (to the south), Lake Powell provides water to approximately 40 million people, irrigates over 2.2 million hectares of land and has the capacity to generate more than 4200 megawatts of hydropower electricity.

The left image is an optical view captured in June 2026 by the Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission, while the image on the right is a Copernicus Digital Elevation Model (DEM) that represents the various altitudes in the area, with colours ranging from blue, for elevations close to sea level, up to dark green for altitudes above 2000 m.

A digital elevation model is a three-dimensional relief map generated from Earth observation satellite data to provide pixel-by-pixel elevation values of Earth’s topography.

Combined with other satellite observations, it helps to improve the mapping, modelling and analysis of landscapes and the study of changes in the terrain on a global scale.

This supports a wide range of applications, including geohazard assessment, urban planning, civil engineering, disaster management and hydrology.

Terrorism only weapon left for Ukraine and NATO – analyst

3 Jul, 2026 10:39 | Updated 3 Jul, 2026 11:40

The government in Kiev and its handlers in NATO are resorting to terrorism because they have been “demilitarized” by Russia during the Ukraine conflict, military analyst Andrey Martyanov has said.

Ukraine has intensified drone attacks on civilian and energy infrastructure, residential areas, and vehicles including passenger buses, amid continued setbacks on the front line in recent months.

Moscow warned that it would carry out “systematic and consistent strikes” on Ukraine’s military infrastructure and “decision-making centers” in response to Kiev’s terrorist attacks, including one in the Lugansk People’s Republic on May 22.

On that occasion, Ukrainian forces targeted a college dormitory in the town of Starobelsk in several waves of drone attacks late at night while students were asleep, killing 21 people, mostly teenage girls, and injuring dozens of others.

Martyanov told RT on Friday that he believes that the responsibility for the attacks on civilian targets inside Russia lies with NATO as the bloc’s officers are “essentially in the operational strategic command of the armed forces of Ukraine.”

“Europe, NATO in general, and the US have been effectively demilitarized” during the Ukraine conflict and lack military hardware to affect the situation on the ground not only at a strategic, but even on a tactical level, he argued.

“Terrorism… is the only weapon they basically have… They will continue to attack children, hospitals. This is what they do. This is… well, basically, the moral qualities, or rather lack thereof, of the Western European elites.

They are also very scared,” the analyst stressed.

Russia carried out another large-scale UAV and missile strike against military-related targets in Ukraine on Thursday, hitting drone-manufacturing facilities, fuel depots, and energy infrastructure.

The raids “will be consistent and… nonstop, essentially. And that’s what we are observing. The intensity probably is going to increase,” Martyanov said, giving his characterization of the Russian president’s position.

“It’s not just that they attack industrial facilities. They are now hunting NATO and Ukrainian top brass,” which indicates that Moscow is not interested in negotiating anymore, but intends to achieve victory on the battlefield, he stated.

SSU strikes aircraft hangars, drone facilities at Saky and Hvardiiske airbases in occupied Crimea

03.07.2026 14:20

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has carried out a successful drone strike on the Russian military airbases Saky and Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea.

The SSU reported the operation, according to Ukrinform.

For the Saky airbase, this is the second confirmed strike within a week. This time, Ukrainian drones hit seven aircraft hangars used for storing aviation equipment, where Su-30SM, Su-30, and Su-24 fighter jets and frontline bombers were deployed.

Preliminary assessments indicate that at least seven aircraft were destroyed or damaged.

At the Hvardiiske airbase, two hangars were struck, reportedly containing Shahed-type drones and aviation equipment.

The SSU noted that the strike was part of a 40-day campaign aimed at exerting pressure on Russia.

According to the agency, Saky and Hvardiiske are among the key aviation bases used by Russian occupation forces in Crimea.

Tactical aircraft operating from these bases regularly carry out missile and bombing attacks on Ukrainian territory and support Russian military operations on the southern axis.

As reported by Ukrinform, on July 1, the SSU said it had struck hangars containing Russian Su-30 and Su-30SM fighter jets at the Saky airbase in Crimea, confirming five impacts.

In June, President Volodymyr Zelensky approved a 40-day SSU campaign aimed at increasing pressure on Russia to help bring an end to the war.

Iran begins talks with Japanese firms on oil sales under temporary US sanctions waiver

A senior Iranian official said any deal would require the US to extend the current waiver given the shipping time between Japan and Iran.

Iran has begun talks with Japanese companies under a US sanctions waiver allowing it to resume oil sales, though prospective buyers are seeking a longer waiver and reassurances about ship safety, three Iranian and Western sources said.

The waiver, part of 60-day peace talks between Tehran and Washington, was issued on June 22 and expires August 21.

Three Japanese buyers were looking at possible crude oil purchases from Iran, their first since 2019, said two Iranian sources, who declined to be identified due to the sensitivity of the issue.

Japanese and Iranian officials were in initial talks about possible oil sales, a Western industry source familiar with the matter said separately.

US officials believed Israel planned to kill Iranian negotiators amid peace talks - report

US officials believed Israel may have planned to use the negotiations between the US and Iran as a window of opportunity to kill Iran’s top negotiators, the New York Times reported on Thursday.

According to the report, US officials were particularly concerned that Iranian Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi would be targeted during the cease-fire negotiations beginning in April.

While targeting high-level government officials was one of the goals at the start of the war, which began with the joint US-Israeli strikes that killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, after talks began, US officials feared that any attempt on Iranian leaders' lives would reignite the fighting, the NYT wrote.

US officials were reportedly so concerned, they reached out to other Middle Eastern countries to warn Iran of the potential danger to Ghalibaf and Araghchi.

Sudan’s people subject to ‘relentless’ drone strikes in El Obeid

3 July 2026

Speaking at the Human Rights Council in Geneva, he called for urgent action from world leaders to stop the heavy fighting that has already caused a massive humanitarian emergency in Sudan and beyond.

Mass atrocity crimes against civilians have been a regular feature of the war that erupted in 2023. In the space of just three weeks last month, Mr. Türk’s office documented 15 drone strikes on El Obeid – the capital of North Kordofan – and surrounding areas, which killed at least 45 civilians.

Impossible choices

The lethal autonomous weapons, launched by former allies the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the national army, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), “have repeatedly struck markets, schools, fuel stations, water infrastructure and civilian vehicles”, the High Commissioner said, as he explained the terror now gripping besieged El Obeid:

“Some people are selling their belongings to finance their escape from the city. For many, the exorbitant cost of transport and constant attacks on vehicles along exit routes, make leaving impossible.

We have documented patterns of summary executions, abductions, torture and ill-treatment, sexual violence, and looting along the routes taken by displaced people across the Kordofan region.”

Fears of another El Fasher

The High Commissioner’s warning follows previous atrocities against civilians including in the besieged North Darfur city of El Fasher last October, where 6,000 people were killed in a three-day rampage of war crimes and crimes against humanity, according to his Office.

Last April, RSF paramilitaries repeatedly shelled and then overran nearby Zamzam camp, the largest camp for highly vulnerable people displaced in North Darfur by the war.

Red alert

“These crimes were foreseen, with repeated warnings by myself and my Office.

But they were not prevented,” Mr. Türk stressed to the Human Rights Council’s 47 Member States, before insisting that the “red alert” being issued “is not a drill” and needs to land on the desks of Heads of State and government around the world”.

Echoing the call for action at the highest level, the UN rights chief call urged the Security Council to fulfil its responsibilities to prevent atrocity crimes.

“El Obeid is a classic case that shows why the use of the veto should be limited, as proposed by France and Mexico more than 10 years ago,” he noted.

Accountability for the crimes committed must happen too, he stressed, welcoming the continued engagement of the International Criminal Court (ICC) on seeking justice for Sudan’s war victims.

El Obeid has more than half a million residents, together with at least 100,000 internally displaced persons – many of whom fled El Fasher in North Darfur and other devastated Sudanese cities.

Latest information from the city indicates that the RSF now has control over all surrounding routes, except towards the East. Residents described growing military movements around the city by the RSF and increasing insecurity with drone attacks along exit routes, the Human Rights Council heard.

‘Fear is pervasive’

“We have spoken with residents of the city. Fear is pervasive,” said Mona Rishmawi, from the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission for Sudan.

Speaking at the Urgent Debate, she described how statements and videos circulated on social media accounts affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) showed military build-up around El Obeid and preparations to enter the city.

Amid increasing attacks on power stations and water facilities, “hospitals, markets, schools, and residential areas have also reportedly been struck, causing civilian casualties and disrupting essential services. Women and children are among those killed and injured,” she said.

In a related update, the UN International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Friday that the number of newly displaced people across Kordofan has risen by nearly two-thirds in only three months.

Forced displacement rising

The agency has also recorded more than 100 incidents causing forced displacement in less than nine months, averaging one major incident every two to three days. “Families are being uprooted faster than humanitarian assistance can reach them,” it said.

Speaking from Port Sudan, IOM Chief of Mission Refaat Mohamed explained that civilians “continue to be the main targets in this conflict”. The aim of this strategy “is mainly to displace them…to start taking cities, empty cities,” he told journalists via video link.

The El Fasher outrage “was not a one-time incident”, he continued, noting that it was part of a long-term trend in Sudan which the international community had failed to stop.

On El Obeid, the veteran humanitarian stressed that aid access is needed urgently to residents who’ve remained out of reach for two months.

“We cannot access them,” he said. “We hear the stories from our enumerators on the ground who are assessing the needs that they have no access to water, electricity and they want a way out, but they cannot.”

Sudan has been engulfed in war since 2023, when fighting erupted between the formerly allied Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.

The war has displaced more than 13 million people internally and driven millions more to the brink of famine, with humanitarian access severely constrained across much of the country.

'It will never fall'

Sudan’s representative in the council had a heartfelt and defiant message for his fellow ambassadors: “For your information I am from El Obeid; this wounded city, it will never fall, as long as we are alive,” said Salim Ahmed Ibrahim.

Royal Navy launches strike drone at sea in landmark trials

3 July 2026

Topic:

The Royal Navy has successfully launched a strike-capable drone from a ship at sea, marking a significant step forward in the UK’s drive to create a hybrid naval force to defend against evolving threats.

Working with British Army colleagues, sailors on experimentation ship XV Patrick Blackett launched the Nyan One Way Effector drone during recent trials off the south coast of England.

Already tested extensively during land exercises, the autonomous drone was taken to sea to explore how it could be operated from a ship.

Pre-programmed to fly to a specific target, the system was flown from a launcher installed on the ship’s deck.

The drone and launcher combination were used by the Army recently in Estonia during Exercise Spring Storm to support NATO allies in a series of real-life scenarios.

The trials are part of the tri-service Project Vantage to rapidly test and deliver Maritime One-Way Effectors as the Royal Navy continues its move to a hybrid force, using uncrewed equipment alongside traditionally-crewed warships and units.

Personnel from 26 Royal Artillery and 744 Naval Air Squadron worked alongside the ship’s company of Patrick Blackett to deliver the trials.

The team successfully launched and flew the drone while the ship was underway, setting the conditions for further experimentation and potential future deployment across the fleet.

Working closely with our Army colleagues, this activity demonstrates how we are accelerating Atlantic Strike concepts into practical, deployable capabilities of the Fleet.

Lieutenant Commander David Burton, Maritime One Way Effectors capability sponsor

The trials demonstrate progress on capabilities backed by the Defence Investment Plan, which commits over £5 billion to drone and autonomous systems – including new classes of uncrewed naval vessels designed to operate alongside crewed warships as part of a fully integrated Hybrid Navy.

Minister for Defence Readiness and Industry Luke Pollard MP said: “Britain is serious about the transition to a Hybrid Navy with new, powerful drones at the heart of the Royal Navy.

“By bringing together Army and Navy expertise to field strike drones from a ship at sea, we are accelerating the capabilities our forces need to stay ahead of our adversaries.”

Lieutenant Commander David Burton, Maritime One Way Effectors capability sponsor, added: “This trial makes a significant step forward in delivering Maritime One-Way Effectors at pace.

“Under Project Vantage we are planning to integrate these capabilities into the Hybrid Navy, combining crewed platforms with uncrewed systems to expand reach, increase tempo and enhance lethality.

“Working closely with our Army colleagues, this activity demonstrates how we are accelerating Atlantic Strike concepts into practical, deployable capabilities of the Fleet.”

‘Take Us To Your Biggest Pedophile’ Demand Surprisingly Politically Informed Aliens

July 2, 2026

WASHINGTON—Displaying an uncanny comprehension of humanity’s power structures as they emerged from their interstellar spacecraft, a delegation of surprisingly politically informed aliens issued demands Tuesday to be taken to Earth’s biggest pedophile.

“People of Earth, you will bring us before the massive child molester in charge of managing your planet’s affairs at once!” said Grelahr Xoxneb of the Galgax Nebula, who added that through years of studying radio and television broadcasts, he and his fellow aliens had familiarized themselves with the human custom of appointing the most prolific child sex offenders to positions of authority.

“We understand that your people are ruled by those who have proven themselves most adept at preying upon the young of your species.

You will therefore grant us audience with whoever among you has engaged in the greatest sexual abuse of minors, that he might negotiate your planet’s terms of surrender.

And do not insult us by bringing us to a mere co-conspirator of your supreme molester! We obliterated the last planet who bade us speak to their equivalent of the one you call Dershowitz.”

At press time, security analysts expressed suspicion that talks with the aliens had failed after Mar-a-Lago was vaporized in a burst of green light.

Aerospace industry’s oversized presence at President Trump's Great American State Fair

Jul 03, 2026

WASHINGTON — The mainstream media has been transfixed on the sparse attendance at President Donald Trump’s Great American State Fair on the National Mall* this week, but the bigger story is the untold tens of millions of dollars corporations ponied up to get a seat at the head table.

*Laslo included (see: “Scorching heat and empty baptism pools: Inside Trump’s deserted American State Fair”) as he covers what his wire service, The LCB, clients want him to…

Everywhere you look at the event that stretches some 10 city blocks along the National Mall, you see a corporate logo.

It’s America, so what?

What particularly caught our eye are all the aerospace companies paying large (if mostly undisclosed) sums of money to show their support for the President as contractors jockey for a limited number of federal space contracts.

Of course, there are all the usual suspects, including Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and GE Aerospace.

But there are also new money millionaires — and “trillionaire,” on paper at least… — showcasing their aerospace acumen throughout the 16-day long event.

Of course, there’s Elon Musk’s SpaceX. But sponsors also include other next-gen space companies, like commercial space station construction company Axiom Space or artificial intelligence-fueled aerospace manufacturing consultants SAP.

At the very least, space seems to be en vogue in the nation’s capital these days, especially at the Department of War’s busy exhibit.

Of course, the military-industrial complex is selling the President — and the nation through him — on more than just aerospace, like the Army’s new AI-powered robotic dog, fighter jets, B-2 bombers, real K-9 soldiers, more fighter jets, next-gen aircraft carriers, etc.

While there are lots of innovative bells and amazing American whistles on display, just underneath the surface there’s a dangerous commingling of the billionaire and political classes.

As friend of Ask a Pol, NOTUS editor Dave Levinthal, wrote this week:

“During a three-hour fairgrounds tour, NOTUS spotted the presence of dozens of corporations and special interest groups representing a who’s who of influence peddlers, many with serious money behind their lobbying efforts.

“These companies and organizations collectively spent more than $152 million in 2025 on formal efforts to lobby the U.S. federal government, according to a NOTUS analysis of federal lobbying disclosure records and data compiled by nonpartisan research organization OpenSecrets.

“Their executives and political action committees have meanwhile donated many millions of dollars more this decade to political candidates’ campaigns, national party committees and super PACs…”

BONUS: Cool documentary alert!*

*gets a tad Reality TV for me — needless drama heaped on actual drama — but overall it’s an intimate look inside America’s elite Thunderbird program.

Like, did you know pilot’s are only in the elite squadron two years and each year half the team is replaced? So each year, half the squadron are freshmen.

On the Partnership Between the U.S. Government and Science in Figuring Out the Nature of UAP

July 2, 2026

Below is the transcript of an interview that I just had with Shannon Cake on Newsmax (which is accessible in video format here). Shannon’s comments and questions are marked by SC and my answers are marked by AL.

***

SC: President Trump is bringing that conversation to the White House, tapping Harvard astrophysicist Dr. Avi Loeb, who’s a regular guest on our program, to help advise the administration.

First of all, congratulations. Great to see you.

AL: Thanks for having me.

SC: So, you were chair of the Astronomy department and the director of the Institute for Theory and Computation at Harvard. You’ve spent years arguing that we should be taking the possibility of extraterrestrial technology seriously.

What’s the first thing you’re going to do once you get in to this white house circle?

AL: I was tasked by a representative of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (who works together with the Pentagon, the FBI and the White House) to establish a council of advisors.

I assembled about 15 scientists with expertise in physics, oceanography, statistics, data analysis and psychology. We have all the expertise needed to analyze the government data.

The first thing we did after meeting was to ask for more than 50 items of information from known incidents and potentially not only videos, but also materials if they exist.

First and foremost, I wanted to salute President Trump for the directive to declassify related information.

This will bring us to a better situation because there are two possibilities: first, some of these anomalous objects are human made, in which case they pose a national security threat because they hover over strategic assets.

The second possibility that some of them might be non-human-made would be the biggest discovery ever made in science.

Either way, I would feel that my time is not wasted because at the very least, we are helping the Pentagon fulfill its mission. As an American citizen, my obligation is to do the best I can to advise them on the best sensors to use.

Figuring out the nature of these unidentified objects is like a detective story. We are all excited about this mission. My team members are really looking forward to analyzing this data.

The fundamental question is: what does the data collected by the government tell us?

And if it’s not sufficiently conclusive, we can advise the government to collect new data with new sensors, and we will identify the critical items that need to be measured in order for us to figure out what some of these objects are.

Drove through here once and a local called it the asshole of the nation

Nevada’s Extraterrestrial Highway is the freakiest road trip you’ll ever take

03 July 2026 11:37am BST

Take a drive to the CIA’s Area 51 – a route with more UFO sightings and unexplained mysteries than anywhere else on Earth

Nevada’s historic silver mining town of Tonopah, bleached by the sun and seemingly forgotten by time, has recently seen an uptick in visitors. According to local lore, they’re arriving not from neighbouring states or even other countries, but from another planet entirely.

“People see UFOs all the time out here, and it’s happening more often,” says Marlena Dufour, matter-of-factly. “Look straight up and you might see bright lights trying to get your attention.

They can move incredibly fast and then – puff! – they disappear. They’re unlike anything a human could create.”

Dufour is a Tonopah local who works at the Central Nevada Museum, which charts the town’s glory days when it was called “Queen of the Silver Camps” in 1900, with mining relics and atmospheric tin shacks scattered across Nevada’s dusty high desert outside Las Vegas.

In the fierce desert skies above this otherworldly landscape, says Dufour, unexplained craft appear often.

In search of my own close encounter, I’ve come to drive Nevada’s wonderfully weird Extraterrestrial Highway, a 98-mile stretch of road that has more reports of UFO sightings than any other route in America.

It’s also one of the most desolate highways in the country, cutting through the remote reaches of south-central Nevada and tracing the edge of Area 51, the hush-hush National Security Site and highly classified US air force facility, which many believe to be a top-secret laboratory for captured alien spacecraft.

Since State Route 375 was officially renamed the Extraterrestrial Highway in 1996, travellers like me have come armed with telescopes and hope, scanning the skies for a glimpse of something otherworldly – not to be confused with the military jets that zigzag through the air from the test ranges nearby.

Most leave America’s Alien Country with stories rather than hard evidence, Dufour warns me. “Unfortunately, it’s hard to capture UFOs on phones and cameras. That’s why we don’t have many videos or photographs of them.”

Yet earlier that day, I’d encountered plenty of purported proof at a pit stop along the highway.

Having set off from Las Vegas, I’d spent two hours driving through an apocalyptic-looking landscape punctuated by spiky Joshua trees, rocks carved with petroglyphs and Native American rock art, and the occasional ghost town surrendering to the elements.

I pulled into Rachel, a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it outpost of just 32 residents. Outside the Little A’Le’Inn motel and cosmic diner, a green Martian statue clutches a hand-carved sign reading “Earthlings welcome”.

Inside I grabbed a stool at the counter, where saucer burgers slathered in “secret alien sauce” were flying out of the kitchen’s atomic hatch.

My bottomless cup of coffee was served by a real-life resident alien – a friendly Briton with spaceship tattoos inked across his hands – in a mug stamped with the warning: “Area 51: Restricted Area”.

Around us, the walls are plastered with photographs that enthusiasts say show unidentified objects hovering over the desert.

The inn is about 10 miles from the fenced perimeter of Area 51, the military base the US government did not fully acknowledge the existence of until 2013. Even today, it’s not marked on maps.

I followed the winding road toward the back gate, where coils of barbed wire crown the fences, security cameras swivel overhead, and warning signs forbid photography – despite the site’s popularity with YouTubers.

Area 51 was established in 1955, selected in part for its exceptional isolation: a vast desert basin encircled by mountain ranges that obscure visibility and limit access from surrounding routes.

The dry lakebed at Groom Lake offered a naturally flat expanse suitable for testing classified aircraft during the Cold War, when experimental surveillance programmes were developed far from public eyes.

In this environment of enforced secrecy, speculation quickly took hold.

By the late 20th century, as only partial details of its operations were declassified, Area 51 had already assumed a far larger role in the public imagination, becoming associated with alleged crash retrievals, reverse-engineering of unknown technology and unexplained aerial phenomena.

Its mythology was further cemented in popular culture by The X-Files, which helped frame it as the archetypal locus of government secrecy and extraterrestrial possibility.

The tension between what is officially acknowledged and what remains undisclosed has ensured its status not simply as a military installation, but as one of the most persistent sites of modern American myth-making.

For those seeking to delve further, the fascinating National Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas hosts a permanent exhibition, Area 51: Myth or Reality, featuring “Russian Roswell” debris said to come from an alleged UFO crash site alongside documents and equipment linked to the development of radar-evading technology in the Nevada desert.

What happens behind the guarded gates remains cloaked in secrecy, but the mystery itself has become a kind of commodity.

It has brought a constellation of offbeat, alien-themed businesses to the route, such as the Alien Research Center in Hiko, a domed iron bunker not too far from the back gate of Area 51 which serves as a supply store for UFO hunters, stargazers and conspiracy theorists.

Another Hiko pit stop is the tongue-in-cheek E.T. Fresh Jerky, where a flying saucer appears to have crash-landed out front.

A word to the wise: stock up on plenty of food and water at these pit stops, and fill up the tank whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Petrol stations on the Extraterrestrial Highway appear less frequently than little green men. Driving north-west for almost two hours, I saw a grand total of seven cars.

There’s something exhilarating about having nothing but open road up ahead, the rear-view mirror filled with hulking mountain ranges. Pop The Good, the Bad and the Ugly soundtrack on the stereo, and it feels like starring in a widescreen Western.

Tonopah, just beyond the northern reaches of the highway, was once one of the richest towns in the West. As well as the Central Nevada Museum, the town is home to the Tonopah Historic Mining Park – another outdoor museum where you can dig further into the area’s mining past – and the historic Mizpah Hotel.

Built in 1907 during the heady boom years, when it once welcomed politicians and moustachioed prospectors seeking silver and gold, the 52-room hotel has been restored with bordello-chic interiors and an old-timey restaurant serving slabs of steak.

A more recent arrival is The World Famous Clown Motel. A neon Ronald McDonald sign flickers outside, and beside it lies Old Tonopah Cemetery, with crumbling headstones and weathered wooden crosses, like a scene from a Stephen King novel.

Vijay Mehar, the motel’s owner, showed me around the eerie clown museum, home to 6,000 clown figurines whose glassy eyes seemed to follow me around the room.

“America’s Scariest Motel”, as it proclaims itself, has become a magnet for thrill seekers who have seen the place on social media and “want to see scary things”, Mehar told me.

The 33 guest rooms embrace the clown theme to varying degrees of creepiness. My room is relatively restrained, decorated with bizarre paintings of Marilyn Monroe and Ronald Reagan in full jester regalia.

Next door, however, is a genuinely terrifying Chucky-themed room with demonic décor, while there’s also a Clownvis Presley suite for fans of The King.

That night, I take a paranormal tour of the historic cemetery, led by the motel’s resident ghost-hunter.

Clutching bleeping electromagnetic field meters said to detect ghosts, we explore the graves of miners who met their end in gunslinging shoot-outs or beneath the wheels of runaway steam trains, each tin plaque reading like the plot of a vintage pulp fiction novel.

We don’t see any ghosts, or UFOs. But what we do see is just as wonderful: above us, stars that shine so brightly it feels as though you could reach out and touch them – a dazzling reminder that Tonopah is also one of the country’s best stargazing spots.

This is a road trip that truly expands the mind, as all good adventures should.

Back on the Extraterrestrial Highway the next day, on my return drive through the lunar landscape, Las Vegas suddenly springs up without warning.

A chorus line of twinkling casino signs gives way to a replica of the Eiffel Tower. It occurs to me that in a state that’s built on surreal spectacle, Nevada’s Extraterrestrial Highway isn’t quite as strange as it sounds.

'I Would Baptise an Alien': How the Vatican Has Publicly Grappled With Extraterrestrial Life

03 July 2026, 5:12 PM BST

When Religion News Service revisited the alien question in June 2026, it found that the Vatican and other religious traditions have been discussing extraterrestrial life for centuries, with Catholic scholars and a US congressman among those openly treating it as a live theological issue.

The article, Religious groups are more prepared for aliens than you think, makes clear that the real surprise is not fear, but familiarity.

The news came after Steven Spielberg's film Disclosure Day used the possibility of alien contact to stage a familiar culture-war question about faith, God and human uniqueness.

In the film, a Catholic character worries that proof of life beyond Earth could push believers to 'stop believing in God,' but the RNS report argues that this dramatic instinct often misses how religious people have already processed the possibility.

Nothing is confirmed yet so everything should be taken with a grain of salt, but the paper's reporting suggests the Vatican has been far less rattled by the idea than pop culture likes to imply.

The Vatican And The Alien Question

For Catholics, the most famous line in the story remains the one that has refused to die.

A Vatican astronomer said he would baptise an alien 'if she asks,' and that offhand remark has become shorthand for a much deeper theological reality, namely that the Church has not treated extraterrestrial life as a contradiction of doctrine.

Diana Pasulka, a religious studies professor at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, told RNS that Catholics have long been interested in life beyond Earth, and even traced the idea back to a German Catholic cardinal in the 15th century.

Pasulka's argument is not that the Vatican has a neat alien doctrine tucked away in a drawer. It is that the institution has been thinking around the problem for ages.

That matters, because once you strip away the sci-fi packaging, the question is familiar territory for a Church that has spent centuries trying to reconcile mystery, cosmology and salvation.

'When it comes to Catholics, aliens are simply not a problem for them,' she said.

Faith Traditions And Life Beyond Earth

The RNS report makes the same point about other religions, with Paul Gutjahr of Indiana University Bloomington arguing that the conversation has never belonged to Catholics alone.

He pointed to Cotton Mather, the prominent Puritan clergyman in Colonial-era Massachusetts, who was already speculating in the early 1700s that God was so vast that life elsewhere in the universe was almost inevitable.

Gutjahr put it plainly, saying the existence of life on other stars would be a sign of God's greatness, omnipotence and ubiquity.

>>24785289

There is something almost disarming about how ordinary that sounds once said aloud. The subject can look mad from the outside, all flashing lights and tinfoil hats, but in religious hands it quickly becomes a question about scale.

If the universe is this large, why would humanity be alone? RNS reports that Jewish thought entered the discussion as well, especially during the space race, when at least one rabbi wrote an academic article on extraterrestrial life.

Pasulka added that people who say they have seen UFOs often interpret those experiences through their own traditions. She said Orthodox Jews she has interviewed remain curious but unshaken, while some Muslims have described UFO encounters through the concept of jinn. In other words, the same sky, different vocabulary.

The harder issue is not whether aliens exist, but what their existence would mean for Christianity's central story.

If Jesus died for human sins, what happens if intelligent life exists elsewhere, and if so, are those beings saved in the same way? That is the theological knot lurking under the whole debate, and it is the bit that has always given the conversation its sting.

Gutjahr said Ellen G. White, co-founder of the Seventh-day Adventist tradition, addressed that problem in the 1880s.

Her view, as he described it, was that Earth is the only fallen planet, while life elsewhere did not share humanity's sin.

That means Earth becomes the lone stage for redemption, and the rest of the cosmos watches, so to speak, from the seats. 'We become like a visual aid to the entire universe,' Gutjahr said.

Tim Burchett, the Republican congressman from Tennessee, added a more literal political edge to the debate. Speaking to RNS in December 2024, he said he sees evidence of UFOs in the Bible, specifically in Ezekiel's description of a 'wheel within a wheel.'

He said that sounded to him like a 'traditional flying saucer,' which is the kind of line that tends to travel fast in Washington, even by Washington standards.

How Religion Handles The Alien Problem

The RNS story also notes that belief in intelligent life is not especially rare among religious Americans, even if it is less common than among the non-religious.

A 2021 Pew Research poll found that most Protestants and Catholics said their best guess was that intelligent life exists on other planets, while white evangelical Protestants were the most sceptical group, with only around 40% saying they thought it probably does.

Pew's findings were based on 10,417 US adults surveyed in June 2021.

That split helps explain why alien talk keeps surfacing in religious and political life. It is not just about flying saucers. It is about scripture, salvation, and whether human beings are the centre of the story or merely one chapter in a much longer one.

Burchett did not flinch when asked whether aliens would need their own version of Jesus. 'The Bible's pretty clear about there being one,' he said. 'Jesus died for them just like everybody else.'

Gutjahr said the sheer volume of historical examples surprised even him. He had expected to find a few scattered references and instead found something closer to a catalogue, spanning centuries, denominations and continents.

'It turns out that the whole freaking world has thought about life on other planets,' he said, laughing, and that may be the closest thing here to a final word.

@UAPWatchers

🚨Rep. Luna Says a UFO Announcement Is Coming Soon…

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna appeared on The Glenn Beck Program on July 2nd 2026.

Glenn Beck asked:

"Do you know something that has not been released? Do you know things that you feel the American people should know?"

Luna replied:

"There will be an announcement soon on one other kind of factor to all this, but it’s nothing that… I think it’ll just be kind of to give the assurance that people will understand the phenomenon is real."

She then added:

"For the most part everything that we have been able to discuss in a SCIF we can now talk about publicly. What I will say is, without a doubt, the phenomenon is real."

The important thing to note is that Luna didn't explicitly say the announcement would confirm aliens or non human intelligence.

She didn't reveal who would make it, what the "other factor" is, or when "soon" means. However, she clearly connected the coming announcement to providing further assurance that the UFO phenomenon itself is real.

Her statement that most of what lawmakers discussed inside a SCIF can now be discussed publicly is actually the most important part of this interview in my opinion.

If that's accurate, there should be far less justification for continued vagueness from Luna, Burchett, Burlison and the other lawmakers who received those briefings.

I see you

June 28, 2026

It’s time to say hello to the Elohim. “Hello!”

That’s all the Contact is. It’s simply saying hello. It’s not complicated. There is no need for complicated thinking.

Just: “Hello! I am here, at your service, spreading your love, receiving your love, being love.” That’s all.

Do you remember the Message? The power of one brain, of one being, is huge. But the power of many brains together is infinite. And that’s exactly what the Contact is about.

It’s like a shower of love coming from human beings all around the Earth. And if you pay attention, in return there is a shower of love coming from the sky.

We are living in a fantastic time. We can even say that we have already entered the Singularity. The number of discoveries made every day is incredible.

Every day, if you follow the news, especially scientific news, on the Internet or elsewhere, it is amazing. Especially in countries that give priority to science.

There is one country in particular. While almost every country on Earth gives priority to Mammon, the god of money, to capitalism, money, power, and the military… one country gives priority to science. And you are lucky, it is in Asia.

China.

China is now producing an incredible number of scientific discoveries. Before, it was America. Today America has become a dwarf by comparison. Last year, China produced ten times more scientific patents than America. Ten times more.

America invests in weapons. Their trains still look like trains from the Wild West. Almost like steam trains. “Choo-choo… choo-choo…” Railway stations in America look as if they belong to the last century. No… two centuries ago.

China has just tested a new train that travels as fast as an airplane, thanks to magnetic levitation. And we were so proud recently of trains traveling at 300 or 400 km/h. The new Chinese train travels at 700 km/h. The same speed as many airplanes. A train!

And it is the same in every field: Medicine, astronomy, genetics, everything.

So, today we can say that China has become one of humanity’s greatest hopes, while other countries continue clinging to military power.

They are Third World countries. You look at the streets of Los Angeles, New York, Washington… Full of homeless people. China? No. Everybody has food. Everybody has a place to sleep. This is happening now.

And the level of research… We are approaching the Singularity. Which means that, thanks to science, we are discovering everything. This week I was thrilled by a new discovery. Fantastic news. No media talked about it. Yet it completely supports our teaching. It is absolutely amazing.

A neuroscientist, a scientist who studies the brain, to his incredible surprise, met a man living a completely normal life. A family. A job. Everything perfectly normal. Then they scanned his head. No brain. No brain. Nothing. Not even a little. Nothing but fluid. And yet he lives a perfectly normal life.

What have I been teaching you? That the most important neurons are in the heart. Not in the head. The head is totally useless. It is like the hard drive of your computer.

It stores memories. The past. But this fortunate man, who has no brain, lives continuously in meditation. No emotional turmoil. No unnecessary reactions. Detachment. A real Buddha. And a happy man.

So, I hope one day it will be possible simply to remove the brain! We now have scientific evidence that we do not need a brain.

Wow!

For the first time, they have discovered a man living a completely normal life…without a brain.

Take a deep breath. Don’t think. Feel. Feel that perhaps this [head]… …is not what is essential. This [heart] is what is important: Love. Love comes from the neurons of the heart.

Supraconsciousness is in the heart, not in the brain. And we all possess it. But when we force ourselves to think, we no longer use the heart. When we spread love, the love of the Elohim, we use the heart.

>>24785340

So, when you want to communicate your love to the Elohim during the Sunday Contact…don’t think about the Elohim. Feel the Elohim. Feel them. They feel you. They don’t think about you.

The Elohim are like little children, constantly playing. They are not serious at all. When I was with them, I felt as though I were in a kindergarten. Always joking. Jumping. Playing. Dancing. Not solemn gods. And they created us in their image. So, we are the same.

Before, when I said this, nobody listened. But now we have found this man with no brain. He is not handicapped. He is not mentally impaired. He drives his car. He goes to work. He takes care of his family…without a brain.

So, stop using this [head]…and start using this. The heart. And that is exactly what you practice every day. The Happiness Academy is coming soon. What is the Happiness Academy?

Training the heart. Through meditation. Through being. Through meeting new people. Who are you? “Oh, I’m a teacher.” “I’m an engineer.” The real question is not: “Who are you?” The real question is: “Are you?”

This week we watched a fantastic movie. I recommend it to all of you. Its title is Detachment. It’s not new. Maybe ten years old. Fifteen? It perfectly describes the problem of humanity.

Where nobody is. People live their lives… Eight billion people on Earth. Eight billion! They live. But what is living? Wake up. Go to work. Come home. Sleep. Sleepwalkers. That’s a beautiful word: They live…but they do not exist.

The most beautiful part of the movie shows people living side by side in what I describe in Naha as “chicken houses”… or rabbit hutches. You see highways filled with cars. Everybody is going somewhere. But in reality…they are going nowhere.

They are like robots. They live…but nobody is.

That is why, when I meet people, I don’t ask: “How are you?” I ask: “Are you?” Is someone there? Is someone watching you?

In the movie, there is a teacher. His students never look at him. They don’t listen. For them, he doesn’t exist. Then he returns to his apartment. His wife is watching television…or looking at her phone.

She never even looks at him. He is completely alone. All the people on Earth….they live, but they do not exist. To exist, you need someone smiling at you. Eyes looking into your eyes. Someone breathing with you. A hand touching your hand.

I am here. You are here. We are. That is what human beings need.

And this man is so desperate that every day, when school finishes, he goes in front of the school. There is a fence, the most beautiful part of the movie, for me.

You know, a wire fence, like the ones around a chicken coop. He holds onto it with one finger and stays there for a long time. Then, one day, an awakened teacher comes. He stands in front of him.

He says nothing. He simply looks into his eyes. The man is so surprised that he asks: “Do you see me?” “Do you see me?” “Yes. I see you.” And that changed his life. Finally, somebody saw him. “Do you see me?” “I see you.”

It is so basic. No need for a brain. No need for thinking. I see you. You see me. We become one. Suddenly, I begin to exist because I see myself reflected in your eyes.

I recommend that you watch this movie. You can find it on the Internet. Again, the title is Detachment, which is part of the teaching of Buddha: Not being attached. Detachment.

You look at life and you feel.

Are you alive?

Are you alive?

Do you exist?

Can you see me?

“I can see you.”

And that is why we come to the Sunday morning meetings: To see each other. To feel each other. To feel that we exist. And the Elohim are looking at you. They feel you.

They are sending you a message saying: “We see you.” Do you see us? Do you see the Elohim? Simply look up and say: “Wow!” Do you remember the prayer? “Elohim, I know you are somewhere.

I cannot see you, but I feel you.” Do you remember it from the book? It is so important to say this prayer every day to stay connected.

I like English. There is an expression that beautifully describes something that requires no thinking because it simply is. They say: “It’s a no-brainer.” English is fantastic. “It’s a no-brainer.” It means you don’t need to think about it. It is clear.

So, stop using the brain. And use the heart.

Thank you.

June 29, 2026: FRANCE Finally REVEALS Its UFO Files, the RAELIANS Were PRESENT UK

July 3, 2026

On June 29, 2026, the French National Assembly held a historic public hearing dedicated to the UFO phenomenon.

For the first time, official French UFO files will be examined publicly, in a transparency initiative comparable to the one launched by the United States.

Members of Parliament Arnaud Saint-Martin and Pierre Henry paved the way, allowing France to join the global movement toward truth already embraced by Russia, China, Japan, and other major powers.

This growing interest aligns with the worldwide success of Steven Spielberg’s film Disclosure Day, which has opened the public’s mind to the possibility of an advanced extraterrestrial presence.

But to conduct an honest scientific study, France cannot ignore the most famous case in its history: Raël’s testimony, which took place on December 13, 1973, at Puy de Lassolas, in Auvergne. A close encounter of the third kind in which Yahweh, representative of the Elohim, explained to Raël the scientific origin of life on Earth and the role of ancient traditions.

This unique message offers a coherent vision: if an advanced civilization is visiting us, it is not to perform aerobatics in the sky, but to deliver a message, help humanity progress, and propose a diplomatic solution: the construction of an Extraterrestrial Embassy, a neutral place for an official meeting.

To discover this global project, a major international conference will take place on July 11, live on Zoom and YouTube Live.
