on the Death of Retired District Judge Rosemary M. Collyer With the death of District Judge Rosemary M. Collyer onJune 7, 2026, this Court lost a cherished colleague and dear friend. Judge Collyer was a trailblazer, a mentor, and a highly respected jurist.

During her tenure, she also served for seven years on the United States ==Foreign
Intelligence Surveillance Court==, including over three years as presiding judge. Prior to joining
this Court, Judge Collyer had a distinguished career that included serving as General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board, Chairman of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission, and the elected chair of Crowell & Moring LLP, the first woman to hold that position in a major Washington, D.C.-based law firm. Judge Collyer graduated with honors from Trinity College in Washington, D.C., and with honors from the University of Denver College of Law.
As a jurist, Judge Collyer was known for her sharp legal mind and commitment to justice.
On a personal level, Judge Collyer is remembered for her warmth, sense of humor, and friendship. On behalf of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, I extend our deepest condolences to Judge Collyer’s family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
