"I've never been interested in politics. It's never been a calling of mine," Rodríguez Castro told the outlet over the course of several days in June in Havana. "But if at some point the revolution needs me to step up, I will do it." He said that he would never abandon the principles of Cuba's 1959 revolution or the nation's sovereignty.

Russia has unleashed another massive drone and missile attack wave on Ukraine's capital, just on the eve of the major annual NATO summit, which is in Ankara, Turkey this week.
Over a dozen people were killed, with heavy damage against residential structures observed. The death toll could rise, but "In total, 14 people have died and 117 have been injured in Kyiv," the office of the attorney general said on Monday morning. Rescue crews have been retrieving bodies from under rubble throughout Monday.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced that it used long-range weapons and drones to carry out a "massive" attack on Kiev and other cities, saying that military bases and energy facilities were successfully struck.

The Kyiv Independent reported that the first explosions were heard at about 1:40am local time, followed by more strikes at 2:10am and 3:15am.
Thousands of residents fled to underground shelters, it reported, as air raid sirens sounded across Ukraine. At least 15 buildings were damaged in Kyiv in the strikes, including four in the capital’s historic Podilskyi district, Tkachenko said.

Xbox Hit With 3,000 Layoffs After CEO Warns Business Is "Not Healthy"
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma issued a dire warning to staff on Monday: "Our business today is not healthy. We must reset Xbox."
Sharma's memo, first published on the Xbox website, announced cuts of 3,200 jobs tied to Microsoft's Xbox division, or equal to about 20% of staff, as deteriorating margins and disappointing Game Pass subscriptions have forced the unit into a major restructuring effort.
The 3,200-job reduction will be split into two waves: the first 1,600 layoffs will begin this week, with another 1,600 occurring over the rest of the fiscal year, according to the memo.
Last month, Sharma told employees in another memo that Xbox's "accountability margin," the metric Microsoft uses to reflect profit margin, had slipped to 3% and that annual revenue had tumbled to alarmingly low levels. "Going forward, this cannot continue," she wrote then.
The CEO said:
After careful consideration, I've made the difficult decision to reduce our team by approximately 3,200 throughout FY27. This will include approximately 1,600 role eliminations today, and in addition, four studios will leave XBOX to new management. Germany was once the industrial engine of Europe, but years of disastrous climate change policies, high energy costs, and left-wing economic mismanagement have battered its manufacturing base. Germany's top financial newspaper, Handelsblatt, reports that Porsche is preparing another round of deep job cuts at its main factories as the sports car maker grapples with weak demand.
The company is considering eliminating as many as 4,000 additional jobs at its Zuffenhausen plant, the outlet said, citing people familiar with the matter. These reductions would come on top of previously agreed cuts impacting 3,900 jobs.

As the U.S. celebrated its 250th birthday, Planned Parenthood cheered the return of hundreds of millions of dollars in Medicaid funding as lawmakers failed to extend the law banning its federal funding.
The Republican-controlled Congress missed the deadline to extend the prohibition of Planned Parenthood’s Medicaid funding which expired on July 4.
The nation’s largest abortion provider originally lost this funding in July 2025 when President Trump signed the One, Big, Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) into law. Republican lawmakers originally intended to halt Planned Parenthood’s federal funding for 10 years, but eventually shortened it to only one year, which ended July 4.
Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley attempted to extend Planned Parenthood’s funding cut with an amendment to the budget resolution in April, but the Senate narrowly voted it down, according to Politico. Two Republican senators, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski, voted in opposition to the amendment.
Anti-abortion activist and president of Students for Life of America, Kristan Hawkins, called on Trump and the Republican-controlled Congress to take action and defund Planned Parenthood “for good,” during a June 27 speech at the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority Conference.
Hawkins warned in her remarks that if “the Senate fails to renew last year’s defunding of Planned Parenthood by July 4” then the organization “stands to gain more than $600 million of our taxpayer dollars.”
Republican Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, wants to work on a third reconciliation bill, and some Republicans on the Freedom Caucus are pushing for a provision on extending Planned Parenthood’s defunding, according to The Hill. However, Republican senators are wary of the idea considering Republicans hold a narrow majority in the Senate.
Some lawmakers are reluctant to start an abortion fight with the midterms approaching in November, the outlet reported.
However, Hawkins cautioned that Republicans should not take pro-lifers’ votes for granted in the coming election cycle.
“This week we started our week at Students for Life on the picket line in front of the RNC [Republican National Committee] headquarters here in town, not because we’re anyone’s enemy, because we wanted to remind the Party that we all belong to that we have to see a return on our investments,” she said in her June speech. “We want to keep this coalition together for November.”
Hawley and Johnson each did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comment.
Outgoing Republican Montana Sen. Steve Daines did not think it was likely for the defunding to be extended by July 4. He explained that a third reconciliation bill would be the only way to extend the defunding of Planned Parenthood, according to News Of The United States (NOTUS). Trump’s OBBBA was a reconciliation bill as well.
“Defunding Big Abortion is now the default expectation of the pro-life movement. When they return to D.C., Republicans must do all they can through reconciliation to once again block taxpayer dollars from Planned Parenthood and abortion businesses,” Marjorie Dannenfelser, the president of Susan B. Idaho Mother Charged With Murder After ER Doctor Diagnosed Twins With Post-Vaccine Reaction
Andrea Shaw Warned the Pediatrician About Family Vaccine History. The Doctor Dismissed Her. Eight Days Later, Dallas and Tyson Were Dead.
An Idaho mother now faces two counts of first-degree murder — and the emergency room doctor who treated her dying twins documented what she already knew: the children were suffering a post-vaccine reaction.
Andrea Shaw, 23, brought her 18-month-old fraternal twins, Dallas and Tyson, to a routine wellness visit on April 23, 2025. Before nurses administered the shots, Shaw and her mother-in-law warned the pediatrician that the twins' father's family had a history of adverse reactions to the flu vaccine. The pediatrician dismissed the warning and proceeded. The twins received the flu, Hepatitis A, and DTaP vaccines.
Within hours, the toddlers became lethargic. Their lips turned blue. The next morning, Shaw rushed them to the emergency room. The treating physician — after hearing that the twins had received three vaccines the day before — diagnosed them with "post-immunization reaction, initial encounter."
The babies went home. They remained sick for days. On the morning of May 1, Shaw found both children unresponsive in their shared bed. Police were called. Investigators immediately focused on the parents.
"They said that it wasn't medical and that they figured asphyxiation, and that I had supposedly had a postpartum overwhelming blackout and done it to my children," Shaw told CHD.TV.
Rather than investigating the vaccine reaction, the Payette Police Department opened an investigation into the mother.
More than a year later, a Payette County Grand Jury indicted Shaw on two counts of first-degree murder. She was arrested June 29, 2026 — three days after giving birth prematurely to another baby. Her husband is now caring for the newborn while she sits in the Ada County Jail on a $2 million bond.
Shaw's defense attorney, Joe Filicetti, told KTVB the case is medical, not criminal, and that a St. Luke's pediatrician diagnosed the twins with a post-vaccine reaction.
"They were looking at it as a vaccine death, and that's still what I believe it to be," Filicetti said.
That medical record has not been publicly released. It is the central dispute in this case — and the press has largely ignored it.
Nurse Angela Wulbrecht, a vaccine injury advocate who has supported the Shaw family throughout, told The Defender she was "shocked and heartbroken" by the arrest.
"Over the past year, I have had the privilege of walking alongside Andrea and her family after the unimaginable loss of her twin babies," Wulbrecht said. "I have witnessed a mother's profound grief, unwavering love for her children, and determination to seek answers."
The National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program has previously compensated families whose infants died from vaccine-induced causes. Peer-reviewed literature has documented a plausible association between vaccines and sudden infant death for decades. The medical establishment has suppressed that connection at every turn.
Andrea Shaw warned the doctor. The doctor dismissed her. The ER confirmed the reaction. Now the state wants to put her in prison.

The U.S. Supreme Court’s 7-2 decision on June 25 shielding Bayer, the maker of Roundup, from claims it failed to warn of the weedkiller’s cancer risk could do more than close the courthouse door on tens of thousands of lawsuits. It pushes the national fight over paraquat — linked for decades to Parkinson’s disease — back to the two institutions critics say have spent decades failing to act on it: the EPA and Congress.
The U.S. Supreme Court’s 7-2 decision on June 25 shielding the maker of Roundup from claims it failed to warn of the weedkiller’s cancer risk could do more than close the courthouse door on tens of thousands of lawsuits.
It pushes the national fight over a second herbicide — paraquat, linked for decades to Parkinson’s disease — back to the two institutions critics say have spent decades failing to act on it: the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Congress.
For much of the past decade, courts were the one venue where the makers of widely used pesticides could be forced to answer for hazards that federal regulators didn’t require them to disclose.
The decision on June 25 will largely remove that avenue — jury verdicts that a pesticide manufacturer failed to warn of health hazards, or failure-to-warn claims.
“It’s obviously a devastating loss for victims trying to go through the court process, given what we know about the failure of the regulatory system in the first place,” said Max Sano, senior policy and coalitions associate at Beyond Pesticides, a group seeking to ban toxic chemicals.
“An avenue to justice and accountability has now been shut,” said Geoff Horsfield, legislative director of the Environmental Working Group, which conducts research and advocacy.
The ruling comes in Monsanto Co. v. Durnell, a case that began far from the paraquat fight. John Durnell, a St. Louis resident, developed non-Hodgkin lymphoma after years of using Roundup in neighborhood beautification work and sued Monsanto in Missouri state court in 2019.
A 2023 jury awarded him $1.25 million. The Missouri Court of Appeals affirmed the verdict in February 2025 and the Missouri Supreme Court declined review.
In January, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to consider Monsanto’s claim that the main federal pesticide law bars failure-to-warn claims like Durnell’s when the EPA has not required a cancer warning.
Monsanto’s argument was that only harms approved by the EPA carry the force of law — so once the agency cleared Roundup without a cancer warning, no state jury could require the company to add one.
Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh, writing for the majority, accepted Monsanto’s argument that the federal pesticide law bars the claim.
Because the EPA had approved Roundup for sale without a cancer warning, he reasoned, a state jury could not require the company to carry one the agency never demanded — a warning, in the court’s words, “in addition to or different from” what federal law requires.
Durnell had argued that a state duty to warn doesn’t add anything “in addition to or different from” federal law; it enforces the same warning obligation the law already imposes, just through a jury rather than the agency.
In a dissenting opinion, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson wrote:
“In accepting Monsanto’s argument and holding that Durnell’s failure-to-warn claim is preempted, the Court misunderstands (the main federal pesticide law’s) requirements, misinterprets the scope of (its) preemption, and ultimately leaves Durnell without a remedy for the significant harms he has suffered.”

Football, like any other sports, relies on rules, which are the basis for fair, honest and transparent competition. Sometimes rules are open to interpretation. In this case not. A minimum automatic suspension of one match following a red card is not a discretionary option and does not require the decision of a competent body to be enacted. It is a principle embedded in regulations, which cannot be made subject to exceptions, let alone in the middle of a tournament where several other players have been in the same situation and regularly served their suspension.
When the certainty of rules is no longer guaranteed by its guardians, the integrity of the game is at stake and the credibility of a competition is undermined. Equally, such decision creates a precedent in the ongoing tournament, where similar situations will now require an equal treatment, to the detriment of the competition.
Football is the most loved sport in the world because it is a beautiful game and is trusted because it is played everywhere with the same laws. A tournament is never a pure standalone and, if the tournament in question is the World Cup, it has the power to drive positive or negative consequences on the game as a whole.

Speaking to Fox News, Netanyahu called Turkey “a regime infected by the Muslim Brotherhood, an extreme movement that hates America and chants ‘Death to America.'”
“I don’t think they should be given F-35s or engines for their fighter jets,” he insisted.
Last month, Trump seemed to indicate he would agree to sell Turkey F110 fighter jet engines and readmit the country to the F-35 program. Turkey needs the engines for its KAAN fifth-generation fighter jets, which it began developing after it was excluded from the F-35 program in 2019.
Netanyahu argued that such a move would “upset the balance of power in the Middle East, which is ultimately guaranteed by Israel’s air superiority and also America’s posture in the Middle East.” Israel has dozens of F-35s in its inventory.
He called Turkey “a great country” but lamented that it is ruled by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who, he said, openly threatens Israel with destruction and occupies half of Cyprus.
Reuters reported last month that the Trump administration has formally notified Congress of its intention to sell more than $700 million of jet engines to Turkey. The report cited two sources and a copy of the formal notification seen by the news agency.
Asked at the time if he was preparing to sell the engines and F-35s to Turkey, Trump said “I think so, look… I’m going to probably do something that’s going to make him [Erdogan] very happy.”
Pressed on what specifically needs to happen for the F-35 sale to go through, Trump punted the question to Vice President JD Vance.
“There are certain things that we have to certify that have happened in order to comply with American law. The president has asked us to do that… so they can get the F-35s… This is really a congressional thing,” Vance said before Trump chimed in, insisting that the issue would be sorted out.
Sale of the F-35 to Turkey would be seen as an important gesture to Ankara ahead of the pivotal NATO summit on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as to Erdogan, whom Trump considers a key ally. Aside from Israel, Greece is also opposed to such a sale.
The fighter jet, a top-of-the-line stealth plane, was originally developed by the US in partnership with other NATO countries under a program called the Joint Strike Fighter. However, the US booted Turkey from the development of the F-35 after Erdogan went ahead with purchases of the S-400 missile defense from Russia.

Operation ‘GLOBAL CHAIN’ took place on five continents and focused on trafficking for sexual exploitation, forced criminality, and forced begging
Europol supported a global operation against human trafficking conducted by 59 countries, resulting in the detection of 2 070 potential victims and the arrest of 1 024 suspects, 334 of which are suspected of human trafficking. As part of ongoing investigations, an additional 201 human trafficking suspects have also been detected. The crackdown, code-named ‘Operation GLOBAL CHAIN’, focused on trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, forced criminality, and forced begging, with a special focus on underage victims.
Total results of the operation
1 024 arrests (334 for human trafficking and 690 for other crimes);
2 070 victims and potential victims identified (1908 adults and 162 minors);
201 additional suspects identified;
465 new investigations opened;
80 cases of document fraud detected.
Investigative results indicate that the vast majority of victims are female and adult, with 64.2% trafficked for sexual exploitation (20.9% forced criminality, 11.3% forced labour, 1.5% forced begging, 2.1% other forms). The percentage of underage victims trafficked for sexual exploitation is even higher with 86.4% (6.2% forced labour, 3% forced begging, around 0.6% forced criminal activity such as pickpocketing, 3.8% other forms). In many of these cases, the safeguarding of victims can be challenging, as they are often exploited by family members.
Potential victims mostly from Latin America
The operation engaged over 40 000 officers from 59 different countries and involved law enforcement, border guards, labour inspectorates, and tax- and customs authorities. Potential victims were reported from 45 different countries, with a majority from Colombia, Argentina, Venezuela, Nepal, and Moldova. Many of the victims had been trafficked across borders, and even continents, demonstrating the global nature of human trafficking schemes.
In total, the deployed officers checked:

Okay, let's get this exactly right: it defines only Jews who believe in the religion are men - as full humans. And everyone else is some level of 'other', that must be pushed aside or, in extreme cases, destroyed.
But if you kill a non-Jew then you're guilty, but there is no penalty. God will punish you. And that is - how shall I put it? - a bit problematic. When you say something is a crime, but there's no punishment for committing it, then it's not really a crime. That's the Talmud.
The worst case, in my opinion, is the case of Maimonides, who decrees…that it is permissible to have sexual intercourse with a 3-year old girl. That age of consent is - problematic. And second of all, he decrees that if a Jew rapes a three-year-old non-Jewish girl, then she must be executed. Her, not him - because she tempted him to sin. And for this reason, you have to treat her like an animal that puts obstacles in a person's way. And he quotes some verse about a bull or something like that. And the rabbis know that these parts of the religion that are misanthropic, that are discriminatory to non-Jews, pose a problem for them. Because if they try to implement them - there are some rules that are very unpleasant, like that three-year-old-girl we were just talking about - if they try to implement them, there will be a pogrom.
So to avoid that situation, the Talmud defines two different states of reality. There's one called "Darkei Shalom" [Peaceful Ways]. In other words, "This is the actual religious law, this is how you are supposed to act." "However, since it would cause a huge mess, and people will die. So due to 'peaceful ways', you don't act that way." Now, until what point does the "peaceful ways" rule still apply? Just as long as the other situation does not exist, which is "When Israel is Mighty". That's when there is a Jewish regime. It is independent, and it is merciless, it can do what it likes. Under those circumstances - it's all over, you go back to the letter of the law.
No more "peaceful ways", no more nothing. Now when you think about Jewish history, lots of people talk about the Hasmonean Wars which was pretty much one of the only times that Jews wielded weapons and they think about what the Hasmoneans did to the Hellenized Jews [who assimilated Greek culture]. Which was to make them extinct, to destroy them. A small genocide. And I remind people of this frequently, every time Hanukah rolls around. But they didn't stop there.
They embarked on campaigns of looting and conquest and at the beginning, during their first 20 years, wherever they arrived, they would destroy the local temples. It was prohibited for a place that was under Jewish rule to have a pagan temple. That's what we're talking about. They also forced the Edomites to convert to Judaism on pain of death. It was a forced conversion. Something we learn the [Spanish] Inquisition did later on. They took people and told them: ;"Either you're dead, or you're converting to Judaism". And things only got worse from there.

The United States' largest Presbyterian denomination has voted to recognise the genocide in Gaza and impose an arms embargo and divest from Israel on Tuesday, adding to another major divestment vote that was conducted on Sunday.
The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA), also known as the PCUSA, voted to officially adopt a resolution that will have the institution identify Israel's war on Gaza as a genocide, lobby US Congress for an arms embargo against Israel and encourage its members to boycott Israeli products that contribute to its war.
The vote was 454-15.
"The overwhelming votes our church made this week…signal a major shift in public opinion on Palestine," Bob Ross, Steering Committee member of the Palestine Justice Network (PJN) of the Presbyterian Church, told The New Arab.
Ross notes that Presbyterians come from across the political divide and are located in every corner of the US, making it a politically and geographically diverse denomination.
"The General Assembly, which reflects this diversity, spoke in a unified voice against genocide and for measures that will hopefully contribute to the liberation of Palestine," Ross adds.
Reverend Addie Domske told The New Arab: "Though many individual Presbyterians have been naming the genocide since it began, the importance of the larger assembly coming together to clearly name what is happening to Palestinians, both in Gaza and the West Bank, allows our collective church to more effectively participate in the larger movement for Palestinian liberation, especially the BDS movement."
Commissioners also voted in favour of a resolution to affirm Kairos Palestine II: A Moment of Truth: Faith in a Time of Genocide, a November 2025 statement from Palestine's Christian community, calling for intensified international boycott, divestment and sanctions efforts against Israel. The vote was 447-21.
Divestment from Palantir and GE Aerospace
Tuesday's vote comes after the Church on Sunday unanimously voted to divest from the controversial tech company Palantir and GE Aerospace, which makes engines for fighter jets and helicopters used by the Israeli army in its war on the enclave.
"Economic measures, when taken by a critical mass of major institutions, can over time weaken Israel to the point where they will have no choice but to surrender to Palestinians' simple desires to be free from occupation, dispossession, apartheid, and genocide," Ross told The New Arab, noting the Church's Palestinian partners have been asking to divest since 2005.
"We'll continue to work in solidarity with our partners in Palestine until they achieve liberation and return."
The PCUSA notes GE Aerospace's role in Israel's war, as well as its role in manufacturing engines used by the Saudi Royal Air Force in its war on Yemen.
"The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) this week boldly chose to stand with our Palestinian siblings and divest from two companies who are grossly enabling the genocide in Gaza and who refuse to change their behaviour," Reverend Ron Shive, co-moderator of the PJN, told The New Arab.
The institution also highlighted Palantir's partnership with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in deporting people amid a nationwide crackdown on migrants, as well as aiding the Israeli military in helping to determine who to kill in Gaza.
The companies were chosen due to their role in human rights violations in the US, Palestine, India, Egypt, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia.
