‘Life-threatening:’ four infants hospitalized over recalled baby formula
A fourth infant has been hospitalized with botulism following consumption of organic baby formula.
The Food and Drug Administration has announced a fourth infant has been hospitalized with botulism after consuming Nara Organics Powdered Infant Formula,
“Parents and Caregivers should stop using Nara Organics Whole Milk Organic Infant Formula immediately,” the FDA said Monday, adding that the agency is actively investigating the outbreak affecting infants in California, Pennsylvania and Washington.
The FDA also advised parents to keep any opened cans in case the child develops botulism and the FDA needs to test them.
Botulism is caused by the ingestion of Clostridium botulinum, a neurotoxin-producing bacteria often found in improperly stored or preserved foods, honey, and the environment.
In infants, symptoms include muscle weakness, drooping eyelids, difficulty swallowing or breathing. And if untreated, the ingestion could lead to paralysis and-or death.
In coordination with the Center for Disease Control and the Infant Botulism Treatment and Prevention Program (IBTPP), the FDA has collected unopened samples from implicated formula lot numbers for testing, with results expected in the coming weeks.
Separately, state officials collected opened formula cans from sick infants' homes, and CDPH testing detected Clostridium botulinum in an opened can of Nara Organics powdered infant formula from one affected infant's home.
Nara Organics Powdered Infant Formula follows ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula, recalled in late 2025 after causing 28 confirmed and 20 probable cases of botulism in children under the age of 1.
Critics blame the FDA for failing to recall the formula sooner, citing insufficient oversight due to recent staffing cuts by President Trump.
However, the Trump administration, which has previously defended staffing cuts across federal agencies to reduce waste and bureaucratic bloating, reported increased recalls in 2025 compared to those under Biden in 2024.

State Department condemns China's ICBM test launch
China conducted the test on Monday and the missile was launched from a submarine in the Pacific. China has defended the launch as part of routine training and said it complied with international law because the missile carried a dummy warhead.
The State Department this week condemned China for testing the launch of an unarmed intercontinental-range ballistic missile into the Pacific Ocean, stating the incident was of "great concern."
China conducted the test on Monday and the missile was launched from a submarine in the Pacific. China has defended the launch as part of routine training and said it complied with international law because the missile carried a dummy warhead.
"At a time when the United States is working harder than ever to prevent nuclear proliferation, China is doing the opposite," State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said in a statement. "Beijing’s rapid and opaque nuclear weapons buildup is of great concern to the region and the world.
"We continue to urge China to engage in meaningful arms control discussions and commit to a regularized notification arrangement for all intercontinental-range ballistic missile and space launches consistent with commitments made by all other P5 members," he added.
The statement refers to the P5, which are the permanent members of the United Nations' Security Council. The permanent members are the U.S., China, France, Russia and the United Kingdom.
China last conducted a missile test in the Pacific two years ago, firing a different ICBM in the first such incident since 1980, according to The Hill.
Australia, Japan and New Zealand also criticized China’s missile launch, which New Zealand claimed was fired into the South Pacific Nuclear Free Zone.

Australian alien arrested after investigation finds she illegally voted in two federal elections
Denise Nataly Migliore is accused of falsely claiming U.S. citizenship to cast ballots in the 2022 and 2024 elections.
An Australian alien has been arrested after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigation revealed that she illegally voted in two United States elections.
The United States Homeland Security Department announced Denise Nataly Migliore’s arrest in a press release on Tuesday. Migliore — who is a lawful permanent resident from Australia — is charged with intentionally making false U.S. citizenship claims in order to register to vote in a federal election, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
Migliore allegedly voted in the 2022 and 2024 elections. On June 11, she was indicted on charges of illegally voting in an election and making false statements in order to register to vote in the Eastern District of Louisiana.
Then, on July 1, Homeland Security Investigations arrested Migliore at the New Orleans’ federal courthouse.
“Our message to aliens who vote in American elections is clear: we will find you, arrest you, and you will face the consequences, including criminal charges and deportation,” Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement. “Only Americans should be electing American leaders.”
HSI and the FBI investigated the case.

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – DENISE NATALY MIGLIORE (“MIGLIORE”),age 51, a resident of Franklinton, Louisiana, originally from Sydney, Australia, was charged on June 11, 2026 in a four-count indictment for making false statements in order to register to vote, and illegal voting in an election, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1015(f) and Title 52, United States Code, Section 20511(2)(B), announced U.S. Attorney David I. Courcelle.
According to the indictment, on or about October 6, 2022, and on or about October 22, 2024, MIGLIORE, at the time a legal permanent resident, knowingly made false claims to U.S. citizenship in order to register to vote in in a Federal election. On or about November 8, 2022, and November 5, 2024, MIGLIORE cast a ballot, which was obtained by falsely certifying that she was a U.S. citizen and eligible to vote, when, in fact, she was not eligible to vote because she was not a citizen of the United States.
If convicted, MIGLIORE faces a maximum penalty of five (5) years in prison, followed by three (3) years of supervised release. MIGLIORE also faces a fine of up to $250,000, and a $100.00 mandatory special assessment fee.
U.S. Attorney David I. Courcelle reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
U.S. Attorney Courcelle praised the work of Homeland Security Investigations and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in investigating this case. Special Assistant United States Attorney Rick Veters of the General Crimes Unit is in charge of the prosecution.

Olympic Committee lifts suspension on Russian teams ahead of 2028 Summer games in Los Angeles
Russian athletes have been allowed to compete in the international sporting event as individual neutral athletes, but have been banned from competing under the Russian banner since 2023.
The International Olympic Committee announced Tuesday it has provisionally lifted the suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee as the qualification period for the 2028 Summer Olympics is underway.

The IOC said it has provisionally lifted the suspension after its legal affairs commission determined the body no longer counts regional sports organizations in Ukrainian territory as members.
The committee clarified that the reversal does not indicate a change in its stance toward Russia's war in Ukraine, despite Ukraine opposing the change.
"At a time of growing instability and division around the world, the IOC remains committed to promoting peace through sport among people and nations," the committee said in a news release. “The IOC stands in solidarity with the Olympic community of Ukraine, which the Olympic Movement has supported since the beginning of the war, and will continue to do so."
The IOC said it has not yet made a decision on whether it will allow Russia to display its flag or colors, play its anthem, or display any identification for the Olympic Games, but has decided not to hold any IOC events in Russia or invite Russian government or state officials to its events.
The move comes after the IOC decided in May to lift its recommended restrictions on Belarusian athletes’ participation in future Games.
