Elaine Chao is a nationalized Taiwanese who moved to the US as a child with her parents. Taiwan is under constant threat by CCP and have been since the Taiwanese retreated there to end a Chinese civil war.

Shipping empire is her fathers business.

Her father founded the Foremost Group, an American shipping company based in New York. Chao was raised in Queens, New York, and on Long Island. She received degrees from Mount Holyoke College and Harvard Business School.

Ms. Chao served in the Bush II and Trumps 1st administration. McConnell and Chao politically are more closely aligned with the Bush version of conservatism (not the Rino version; rather a traditionalist). This causes conflict at times with the America First/MAGA wing of the Republican party.

Nope, just lurking around. Anon thinks other Anons spend too much time believing/telling falsehoods; causing them to fail to keep their eyes on their desired destination.

Anon is neither pro or con Chao, but McConnell has failed us in his elder years due to his case of TDS.

VOICES FROM IRAN

Iran's costly farewell for supreme leader draws backlash

Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's funeral procession in Tehran on July 5, 2026.

The Islamic Republic's state funeral for Ali Khamenei has drawn criticism over its attendance, the extensive public resources devoted to the event and what many Iranians described as an unsuccessful attempt to project political strength, following the burial ceremony.

Images and videos from Tehran's prayer ground complex prompted widespread discussion among Iranians, with many saying attendance fell short despite an extensive state mobilization effort.

Messages sent to Iran International argued authorities relied on government employees, security forces, organized transportation, free meals and public holidays to maximize turnout, yet still failed to fill the designated venue.

For many, the relatively sparse gathering represented more than a logistical disappointment. They viewed it as evidence of a widening gap between the establishment and society, arguing the Islamic Republic could no longer convincingly stage large public displays of popular support.

Several citizens contrasted the official portrayal of the funeral as a demonstration of national unity with what they described as a subdued public response after nearly five decades of clerical rule. (cont. on site)

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said on Wednesday they had attacked 85 US military sites in Bahrain and Kuwait after accusing the United States of violating the ceasefire with airstrikes in southern Iran.

The IRGC said in a statement that the US strikes were aimed at overshadowing a funeral procession for slain Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Iraq, saying Washington viewed the turnout as a further sign of its defeat.

NATO chief says new US strikes on Iran were ‘absolutely necessary’

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said on Wednesday that new US attacks on Iran were “absolutely necessary” after Washington accused Tehran of violating the ceasefire.

The US military launched a new wave of strikes in Iran on Tuesday and revoked a license allowing Tehran to sell oil after three tankers were hit by projectiles in the Strait of Hormuz.

“When you have a ceasefire and Iran is basically violating the ceasefire, I think it is totally crucial that the US forcefully react,” Rutte told reporters before a NATO summit in Ankara.
